The term "erected" in the context of the Bible often refers to the construction or setting up of structures, altars, monuments, or other significant objects. Altars and Monuments

Monuments or memorial stones were also erected to commemorate significant events or divine encounters. In Genesis 28:18, Jacob set up a stone pillar at Bethel after his dream of the ladder reaching to heaven, marking the place where God spoke to him. This act of erecting a stone served as a lasting reminder of God's promise and presence.

Tabernacle and Temple

The erection of the Tabernacle and later the Temple represents significant moments in Israel's history. The Tabernacle, a portable sanctuary, was erected according to the detailed instructions given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai. Exodus 40:17 states, "So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year." This structure served as the central place of worship and the dwelling place of God's presence among His people during their wilderness journey.

King Solomon later erected the Temple in Jerusalem, a permanent structure that replaced the Tabernacle. The construction of the Temple is detailed in 1 Kings 6, where Solomon followed the divine blueprint given to his father, David. The Temple became the focal point of Israelite worship and the symbol of God's covenant with His people.

Pillars and Asherah Poles

In contrast to the altars and temples erected for the worship of Yahweh, the Bible also records the erection of pillars and Asherah poles associated with idolatry. These were often condemned by the prophets and reformers in Israel. For instance, in 2 Kings 23:14 , King Josiah "smashed the sacred pillars to pieces, cut down the Asherah poles, and covered the sites with human bones" as part of his reforms to restore true worship.
