Esther M. Morgenstern
Esther M. Morgenstern was a judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. She assumed office in 2006. She left office on December 31, 2023.
Morgenstern (Democratic Party, Republican Party, Conservative Party) ran for re-election for judge of the New York Supreme Court 2nd Judicial District. She won in the general election on November 5, 2019.
In 2003, she began serving on the Queens County Integrated Domestic Violence Court.[1][2]
Education
Morgenstern received her B.A. from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 1980 and her J.D. from the Cardozo School of Law in 1984.[1]
Career
Morgenstern began her career in 1984 as a law assistant for Torras Greenberg. The following year, she worked as an attorney with Yisraeli and Yerushalmi. In 1986 and 1987, she was a law assistant to an acting supreme court justice and, in 1987 to 1988, she was the senior law assistant to an acting justice. She was elevated to associate law assistant in 1988 and became a principal law clerk in 1990.
Morgenstern began her judicial career in 1996 when she was elected to the New York City Civil Court. She served on assignment to the New York City Criminal Court from 1996 to 2002. She was an acting supreme court justice of the Queens County Supreme Court (2002-2005) and the Kings County Family Court (2002-2004). She was elected to the Queens County Integrated Domestic Violence Court in 2003 and to the Supreme Court of Kings County in 2006.[1]
