Charles Metzner
Charles Miller Metzner (1912-2009) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Metzner was nominated by President Dwight Eisenhower on April 15, 1959, to a seat vacated by John William Clancy; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 9, 1959, and received his commission on September 10th. Metzner was succeeded in this position by Leonard Sand. He assumed senior status on September 30, 1977, and served in that position until his death on November 30, 2009.
Of the 165 judges nominated by President Eisenhower to the federal bench, as of July 2009, Metzner was the last remaining judge.
