|Rick Krajewski is a West Philadelphia neighbor, criminal justice organizer, educator and artist running for State Representative in the 188th State House District. Rick is running to champion our West Philly values in Harrisburg by putting people before profit and fighting for the future we all deserve. As a working class multi-racial Black man raised by a single mother, Rick knows courage and community are fundamental for us to thrive. As an organizer, he knows it takes people power to transform systems for the better.
As a West Philadelphian, Rick has worked for criminal justice reform and access to public education. Since 2016, Rick has been an organizer with Reclaim Philadelphia, fighting to put working class people at the forefront. In the 2017 general election, Rick led a team of 200 volunteers in our neighborhoods to elect Larry Krasner, the most progressive District Attorney in the country on historic platform of ending mass incarceration, ending cash bail, and fighting corruption in the police department and within the DA's office itself.
- Home is a human right and every person should have safe, accessible, sustainable, and permanently affordable housing. Our community is threatened by a racist housing system that concentrates poverty for the profit of big developers. Homelessness is a moral crisis that we have the resources to solve. We need bold leadership to make Pennsylvania a national model for a housing system that prioritizes people over profit, a model that will stand up against practices that create intergenerational poverty, and ensures that homes are safe and affordable.
- Philadelphia has become a national leader in criminal justice reform. With the election of Larry Krasner as District Attorney, the decarceration movement has pushed a transformation that's led to our jail population being its lowest in 20 years. The system has been criminalizing poverty, profiling black and brown communities, and creating a feedback system that never lets go of people with a criminal record. We are finally undoing the harm caused by the "tough on crime" era of our past. This is a historic moment for our city and country, but there is more that must be done. We must continue to win big in the areas of sentencing reform, diversion programs, and holistics approaches to violence in our communities.
- Pennsylvanians need a Green New Deal. A Green New Deal is the path to realize our basic human rights: to clean air, clean water, clean infrastructure, healthy food, renewable natural resources, and a stable and livable climate. The Green New Deal is not a specific policy, but a recognition that our three crises are inseparable, and a commitment to addressing them all at once. We can do this by creating jobs and empowering workers, halting climate change, reversing environmental injustice, caring for the natural world, and investing in public goods and services that working people need to thrive.
My full platform can be found here - https://rickforwestphilly.com/issues. In addition to supporting or championing all of those issues, there are three areas that have become clear points of focus based on the organizing I've done in the district and conversations with people in our community: education, housing, and safety. Everyone is distressed about the state of our schools in West Philadelphia. My earliest experience of local engagement was volunteer teaching at a public school that was failing, at which point it became charterized. Developers are pressuring West Philly homeowners into selling their houses to throw up condos, while renters are dealing with rising rent costs, all of which leads to rapid gentrification and displacement. People are feeling unsafe in their communities because of an epidemic of gun violence, violence that is the result of systemic poverty compounded by mass incarceration and a lack of mental health services.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
