2014

Wheeland's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[9]

Bring Fiscal Discipline to State Government

  • Excerpt: "As our Representative, Jeff will work to eliminate wasteful spending and use common sense to fund local schools, senior programs, and public safety needs. He’ll work tireless to make sure our communities - instead of just Philadelphia and Pittsburgh - see economic benefits from the money we send to Harrisburg."

Economic Security for Families through Job Creation and Economic Growth

  • Excerpt: "Jeff is a successful small businessman who has grown and expanded a small retail and manufacturing business started by his family in 1967. He knows how to help create the kind of good-paying jobs that provide economic security for our families because he has actually done it."

Combat the Drugs and Violence Threatening Our Communities

  • Excerpt: "As our State Representative, Jeff will work with the Attorney General and other members of the legislature to implement the programs and laws that will get illegal drugs out of our communities. He'll also ensure local law enforcement has the tools they need to protect our families, our homes, and our children."

Protect Taxpayers - Not the Politicians

  • Excerpt: "Jeff will reject the partisan political games that have infected government and caused the gridlock that hurts taxpayers and enriches career politicians. He’ll fight for more open and transparent government to rebuild the public’s trust - and he’ll never vote himself a pay raise."

Ensure a Quality Education for Every Child

  • Excerpt: "That’s why he’ll fight for real property tax reform, fewer mandates on our local schools, public pension reform, and other initiatives that protect seniors and homeowners while ensuring education dollars are spent on children in the classroom."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Pennsylvania

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Pennsylvania scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
