Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Allen's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Jobs and Economic Growth: We need more people in DC that understand what it’s like to be a business owner . . . to make a payroll and set a budget. We also need somebody that is an advocate for our communities and is prepared to roll up their sleeves and get things done. I am that leader.
  • Strong Schools: Our schools form the bedrock of our communities. They are more than books, computers and Friday night football games. Our schools are an economic engine for our communities and educated citizens drive our economy. They train our workforce and ensure that we have a quality of life that is essential for young families that want to stay in their communities to grow and thrive.
  • Firearms Laws: I firmly support the 2nd Amendment right of citizens to keep and bear arms. I do not believe firearm laws will create a safer America or Kansas. The key is responsible gun ownership and providing educational programs. Hunting and fishing are a great source of Agritourism that create economic prosperity in many areas.
  • Responsible Tax Reform: It’s time for responsible, common sense tax reform. With a tax code that is too complicated for most Americans to understand, we must simplify it. We cannot export the failed tax policies of Governor Brownback to the entire U.S. This failed experiment has been devastating for KS and we can stop it from becoming national policy.
  • Immigration: As part of comprehensive immigration reform, we first need to secure our borders. Next we should provide a path to legal status for those immigrants who have been here, working hard and obeying our laws. Doing so will not only keep families together, but help to bring in revenue to allow us to reduce the tax burden on Kansas’ families.
