Barret Eugene "Barry" Hansen (born April 2, 1941) better known as Dr. Demento, is an American radio broadcaster and record collector specializing in novelty songs, comedy, and strange or unusual recordings dating from the early days of phonograph records to the present. Hansen created the Demento persona in 1970 while working at Los Angeles station KPPC-FM. He played "Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus on the radio, and DJ "The Obscene" Steven Clean said that Hansen had to be "demented" to play it, and the name stuck. His weekly show went into syndication in 1974] and was syndicated by the Westwood One Radio Network from 1978 to 1992. Broadcast syndication of the show ended on June 6, 2010, but the show continues to be produced weekly in an online version.

Rhino's three-disc box set The Remains of Tom Lehrer presents 75 tracks from the satirist's four decade career. The first disc concentrates on Lehrer's studio output, including pieces from his 1953 debut Songs by Tom Lehrer and his 1959 album More of Tom Lehrer, as well as a 1996 version of "I Got It from Agnes" and "That's Mathematics," a previously unreleased track from 1993. Disc two gathers his '59 performances at MIT and Harvard, captured on the albums Tom Lehrer Revisited and An Evening Wasted With Tom Lehrer (which offered many of the same selections as their studio predecessors). The third disc is a mix of live and studio tracks, including the material from the album That Was the Year That Was, songs written for PBS's The Electric Company in 1971-72, orchestral versions of songs conducted by Richard Hayman in 1960, and four new songs, including "Selling Out" and "(I'm Spending Hanukkah) In Santa Monica." Song-by-song notes by Lehrer, rare photos, and an essay by Dr. Demento add an extra depth to The Remains of Tom Lehrer making it the ultimate collection of his irreverent social commentary.

The Barron Knights are a British humorous pop group, originally formed in 1959, they became the Barron Knights on 5th October 1960. Although the Barron Knights undoubtedly had their own style and produced regular `beat group recordings' in their own right, it was their production of comedy parodies that brought them the greatest success. In fact, their catalogue of recordings - although impressive - does not reflect their success as stage entertainers. By adapting their act to each new wave of emerging performers they were able to survive longer than their more conventional contemporaries, and even today can still be regularly found in cabaret or performing a seaside summer season.

Released in 1957 on the Beacon label run by the legendary producer Joe Davis - it was one of the first albums which captured the audience’s attention by means of double entendres in the songs. The release became one of the most eccentric and scandalous albums of its time and remains one of the most sought-after gems in the history of discography. It was unusual at the time for women to sing such explicit songs, and it may have helped bring the album into the spotlight and make it attractive to a wider audience. Despite many controversies and scandals due to its provocative title and its immediately recognizable raunchy cover, the album managed to find its fans and become one of the best-selling albums on the label.

As bizarre and eclectic set of singles as you would imagine from the woman dubbed "London's Vice Queen" by the News Of The World and jailed in 1973, this fascinating CD includes all her a and b sides plus several unissued numbers. The CD concentrates on her musical career with the likes of Jimmy Webb, Marc Bolan and others, and includes detailed notes plus loads of great pictures and cuttings, and a discography. The sixties have never swung quite like this before!

Woodschtick And More (or simply known as Woodschtick) is a 1971 comedy album by The Credibility Gap. At the time, the Credibility Gap consisted of Richard Beebe, David L. Lander and Harry Shearer, with writing help from Michael McKean, Christopher Ross, and Morgan Upton. McKean also wrote the musical theme to Woodschtick that appears within the album. In later years, The Credibility Gap would be Lander, Shearer, and McKean, which would later move Shearer and McKean to form Spinal Tap with Christopher Guest. McKean would also be Lenny of Lenny & Squiggy fame in the American television show, Laverne & Shirley. The album was released by Capitol and is meant to be a parody of the Woodstock music festival. It is an unofficial CD pressing.
