A Way to Repay (You)

Summary:

Secret Santa gift for Nick / nicksies_ !!!

Blaze first met Aaron in person after he saved him from having to fight someone, and Blaze thought that was worth repaying.

Or… A story about how Blaaron first met in Phoenix Drop High!

Work Text:

“Why can’t you just do what you’re told you mangy mutt!” The purple haired werewolf yelled as he began to slowly move closer to Blaze.

Blaze felt his ears twitch as he did…
What should he do?

Blaze knew how to fight, pretty well actually, but he had just gotten off a suspension for fighting… Plus this guy looked much stronger than him… And he had a friend right next to him.

He could just give him what he wanted, but he didn’t want to let this jerk win! It wouldn’t be fair! That money was his!

Out of all his years at Phoenix Drop High, this junior year had been the weirdest.

With the alpha also being the omega, and not afraid of confrontation to boot, people weren’t exactly haggling him for his lunch money. So the werewolves who liked to pick fights just went after anyone they thought they could take instead.

Today Blaze was one of those werewolves.

Blaze sighed.
Even if it meant getting suspended again… He had to defend himself. Blaze prepared to fight the guy back when the purple haired werewolf was punched in the side of the head.

He fell on the floor and looked up at the one who punched him before him and his buddy quickly ran off. Blaze was a bit surprised… And impressed.

He turned to see the face of his savior.
Aaron.

Aaron Lycan.
He was the current alpha male AND omega of their school and a human all at once! He was also very quiet and seemed to talk to nobody unless he had to, besides the alpha female. Some people said it was because he was a spoiled rich kid, others said he was just weird.

He was interesting for sure… It seemed like the school could never go a day without making up a new rumor about him. It made it hard to know what was true and what wasn’t…

But what Blaze did know for sure was that he helped him, and he was his alpha.

Regardless of the omega status, he was worthy of respect for those things.

“Oh wow! That was quite a powerful punch! Took that guy right out!” Blaze exclaimed as he did a few air punches and smiled brightly.

Aaron looked at him, he was confused for a moment before humming an acknowledgment and nodding.

“Hey, man— I mean, alpha! I was thinking of going to the park after school! You wanna come with?” Blaze asked, his tail slowly beginning to sway back and forth. It’d be nice to get to know more about Aaron. He did intrigue Blaze.

“I could even get you some food as a thank you!” Blaze smiled at Aaron. “And we could—“

“Sorry buddy, I'm good.” Aaron said, simply turning around and walking away. He walked for a minute before he stopped and turned his head back towards Blaze, “…Thanks.” Aaron said softly before continuing to walk away.

“Hey! Wait!” Blaze called out after him, but he didn’t exactly commit to following after him, so Aaron just continued to walk away.

Blaze’s eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

Blaze was out in the courtyard eating his lunch, but he could not stop going back to Aaron.

Aaron helped him, and Blaze considered it his duty to repay him for that! He WOULD find a way to repay him… But how…?

He thought for a moment before he realized it… His other alpha! They have been getting pretty close lately… Which was odd because they used to be so aggressive… Regardless, she might have an idea.

He wondered if she had first lunch too…
Well, he was about to find out!

Blaze immediately sniffed the air until he picked up on Aph’s scent.

And off he was to find her!

Blaze found Aphmau pretty quickly, she was with a group of girls.

“Um… Excuse me, alpha? Can I talk to you?” Blaze asked, he was a tad nervous. Alpha Aphmau had been pretty hostile with Aaron. Knowing how strong Aaron was, he was a bit scared of her for that.

“Huh? Oh uh sure.” Aphmau responded with a slightly confused look on her face. “Be right back guys.”

The two walked just outside the cafeteria to talk.

“So what’s up?” Aphmau tilted her head in confusion.

“Well, um my name is Blaze and I know you’re really close with Aaron and I wanted to ask some questions!” Blaze said, still a bit nervous.

“Questions? About Aaron? Like what?” Aphmau asked, still very confused.

Blaze took a deep breath. “Well, he helped me out so I wanted to thank him with a present… What does he like?”

Aphmau was a bit taken aback by the answer. “He… Helped you?”

Blaze nodded.

“Huh…” Aphmau said in surprise before shaking her head. “So a gift for Aaron? Well, he likes oatmeal cookies a lot?”

“H-He does?” Blaze perked up.

Aphmau nodded.

“That's perfect! I help my mom make those all the time!” Blaze yelled happily. “Thank you so much alpha!”

Blaze then began running off.

“Ugh! My name is Aphmau!” Aph called out after him.

The next day at school, Blaze came with a tiny little ziploc of oatmeal cookies. Now he just had to find Aaron.

Rumors claimed that he loved to hang around outside, but with how crowded it was out there and how much of a quiet person he was, he had a hard time believing that. His instincts told him to check somewhere quiet… Like the music room!

Blaze cracked open the door to the music room and immediately heard the beautiful playing of a guitar. His ears twitched as he sensed the music coming from behind the middle door.

He slowly walked up to the door and sat with his back to it. He closed his eyes and listened.

“You're a good player.” Blaze said softly, as his head swayed back and forth to the music.

The person was silent for a minute before he responded.

“…Thanks.”

Blaze smiled at the sound of the voice.
That was Aaron all right.

“I made you something.” Blaze said.

There was a bit more silence. “For me? You don’t know me…”

“I don’t… But I know that you helped me.” Blaze said, turning around and sliding the cookies under the door.

“A birdy told me you like these.” Blaze smiled, as he got up and began to walk away. He stopped at the door. “Thanks for helping me.”

And just like that, he left the room.

Aaron picked up the bag of cookies and stared at them for a second.

He had never had anyone do something like this for him before… It was an amazing feeling.

A slight smile began to find its way onto Aaron’s lips.

“You’re welcome…”
