Adam's Heart

Chapter 10: A Rescue

Summary:

Eden finds out that her husband is still alive, so she goes down to Hell herself to go rescue him.

Chapter Text

Eden was laying in her bed, forced there by Sera after the exorcists had returned from the extermination two weeks ago, but this time...without Adam. She knew what had happened, because she felt it.

At first it was small shit, like a few punches here and there, but then she felt the agonizing pain in her stomach, which caused her to let out a blood curling scream in the middle of the streets of Heaven after she had left their home to go to him.

Winners were worried about her and one of them, Molly, ran to get help. It had only gotten worse, when she felt the multiple stabs in her back, much like her husband was receiving.

When it was over, Sera and Emily had rushed to her side in worry. They managed to haul her off, and calm everyone down. They got her to a healer, who found nothing wrong with her. That is how they figured out it wasn't HER who was hurt. It was Adam. It only solicited when Lute and a small amount of the others had returned from Hell without Adam. Lute also had his halo with her, along with her missing an arm.

Eden was beyond devested and begged for them to go back for his body, but Sera had forbidden it and then banished her to her home, bedridden her for the time being.

It pissed Eden off to no end, since she had to find out from Adam's son, Abel that they were hosting a meeting because one of Charlie's sinners had somehow made it up to Heaven, which angered Eden even more.

But then after two weeks, something strange happened.

The feeling of her other half...it came back. Sure, it felt darker, but she knew it was still Adam.

This gave her some hope that he was still alive. So, despite what Sera ordered, she jumped out of her bed and quickly got dressed, before rushing out of her house, heading towards the courthouse.

Once there, she slammed open the doors, shocking everyone inside. "Eden!" Sera shouts in a stern tone. "We are having a meeting right now, you can't just-"

"Adam's alive!" Eden blurts out, shocking everyone in the room. "I can still the other half of his soul! He's alive!" She exclaims as she looks around the room to grander their reaction. She had expected them to seem happy about this news, because it means their first man was alive and they could get him back. But Emily, and Abel seemed happy to hear this news.

Lute was frowning, looking like she wanted to believe it, but because she saw how Adam had died, she couldn't allow herself to hope he was still alive. Sera on the other hand, was frowning, as if this news of Adam being alive, angered her.

"Eden, it's been two weeks, you're probably just imagining it." Sera said in a soft but stern tone, almost as if she was speaking to a child, which annoyed Eden.

"I have spent YEARS feeling Adam's other half of his soul, I KNOW when it's him." Eden said in a harsh tone as she narrowed her eyes on Sera. "We have to go get him! If he stays down, there any longer then-"

"Eden!" Sera shouts, her voice echoing throughout the courtroom, causing Eden to flinch and wrap herself in her wings. Sera sighed, calming herself down. "Eden, look. I'm sorry, but we can't send angels down there to look for someone that might not be alive." Eden frowned in anger, upset that Sera wasn't listening to her. "Also, we have much more pressing matters to attend to." Sera said as she gestured towards the redeemed sinner. "As you can see, the princess of Hell managed to redeem one of the sinners in her hotel. So, we are suggesting if we should look into making a deal to redeem sinners."

Eden's eyes widened in horror at this, because that would mean, her killer could also get redeemed if he knew she was up in Heaven. This thought terrified her. "You can't be serious?" She asked as Lute flew down to her.

"That's what I was asking, but none of them are listening to me." Lute said with a frown.

"Sera, what about the victims of sinners? Do you know how they will react if they see their abuser on the streets of Heaven?" Eden asked in a harsh tone, causing Emily to frown.

"Look, we understand that. That's why we were just suggesting it. And I would like if we got back to that, instead of talking about a man that is dead and who is NEVER returning." Sera said in a stern tone, causing Eden to growl in anger.

"Don't talk down to me like I'm a child, Sera! I know he's alive down there, and what...you want to just leave him down there to suffer after all the shit he's done for Heaven!?"  Eden shouts pissed that Sera wanted to leave her husband down in Hell, despite everything he's done for Heaven.

"What Adam had done, Eden, is sin so many times, I'm surprised he even made it up in Heaven, along with convincing us Angels of the court to go along with the exterminations in the first place." Sera said in a stern tone as she narrowed her eyes on Eden. "If I must say, Hell is where he belongs."

Eden's eyes widened in anger at this, pissed that Sera would say that about Adam. She scoffed and she spun around and stormed out of the court room, pissed off that no one was believing her that Adam was still alive, and wouldn't go looking for him.

"If they won't do it, then I fucking will." She murmured under her breath, and she rushed out of the courthouse and flew to the area where Adam normally opens the portal to Hell. She was going to get her husband back, no matter the cost.

---------------------------

As Eden steps through the portal to Hell, she wasn't wearing her exorcist uniform, and was hiding her wings and halo, worried that a sinner might attack her with an angelic weapon, now that they know angels can be killed, she didn't want to risk it.

She looked around the place that she appeared in. It looked like a battlefield with all the destruction and shattered debris. She then looked over to see a hill, that the hotel sat. Its huge sign blazed with bold, luminous letters that cut through the darkness and casted eerie shadows.

She was about to take a step when she heard a sharp whistle. She turned around to see a handful of demons nearby, and they were apparently making crude gestures and leering at her, their eyes glinting with malicious amusement.

One of the demons spoke, his voice, slimy and dripping with lust. "Hey there, gorgeous! Why don't you come over here and give us a show?" He licked his lips as his gaze lingered on Eden in a way that made in shudder in disgust.

"I'm married fuck stains!" She shouts as she glared at them, which caused them to all burst out laughing.

"Well, sweetheart. I don't see your husband anywhere near you, now do I?" Another demon taunts, making Eden glare harder.

"That doesn't mean I will cheat on him! I would rather fuck a cheese grinder than you fuckers!" She shouts, causing them to laugh harder.

"Oh, look here! We got ourselves a feisty one! Just how I like 'em!" One of them said in a lustful tone, making Eden cringed in disgust.

She looks around and notices that none of them had any angelic steel on them or near them. This made her smirk. "Oh, I see you idiots don't have any angelic steel on you."

This caused them to pause in confusion. "Yeah, why does that matter?" One of them asked.

Eden smirked as she raised her arm, the palm of her hand started glowing with her divine power, shocking them. "Oh, shit! She's an angel!" One of them shout in horror, realizing they have done fucked up.

Eden chuckled darkly at this, knowing she had them corner. "Now, if you don't want to be mush on the sidewalk, let me leave." She said in a dark tone, causing them to nod their heads. They were surprised that an angel would allow them to live, but they didn't complain. They rushed off, away from her.

Eden sighed in relief as she lowered her arm. Sure, she wanted to kill those fuckers, but she didn't need to draw attention to herself and have the stupid hotel crew on her ass.

But...it was too late.

"You could have killed them but didn't." She heard a familiar voice speak and glanced behind her and sneered at the person behind her. "Hi, I'm Charlie Morningstar, the Princess of Hell." She introduced herself as she stuck out her hand with a smile. "I run the hotel up there." She uses her other hand to point up to the hotel.

Eden sneered at her with a scoff. "I know who you are. We met at the meeting." She said in a blunt tone, shocking Charlie.

"O-Oh! Your...Your Adam's wife!" She exclaims looking rather surprised to see her down in Hell. "What are you doing down here?" She asked.

Eden frowned as she crossed her arms. "I don't need to tell you."

Charlie frowned at this, getting suspicious as to why Eden was down there in Hell. "I kind of do. I am the Princess after all." She said in a stern tone, causing Eden to scoff.

Charlie's eyes then widened in horror assuming why Eden was down there, was for her husband's corpse, which of course...was eaten by the cannibals that she had convinced to join her cause. Many of the exorcist have been eaten or buried, but Adam's body was so desired, that many of the cannibals fought over his body, tearing it to shreds. So, of course, Charlie is horrified that Eden is down there for his body. Because she'll have to somehow break it to her that they didn't have his body.

"Oh, are you...here for Adam's...body?" She struggled to get the words out, making Eden glare at her in suspicious. "Look, um...how about this. We have...some things of Adam still, that we could totally give you back! But the at the hotel." She said in a nervous tone.

Eden's eyes widened in horror. Sure, it was tempting to collect her husband's things, but what would they have that belonged to her husband that Lute didn't take with her? They couldn't have his guitar, since that was his divine power, if he dies, it goes away along with him. They obviously didn't have his halo, since Lute took that with her. "W-What do you guys have?" She asked, wanting to make sure Charlie wasn't leading her into a trap. Because she knew how much Charlie and her crew hates Heaven right now, along with her husband, so there is no say that she isn't going to take her anger out on her.

"Well, we saved his wings for you." Charlie answered, shocking Eden even more. "Look, please just come to the hotel. I'm sure you'll love it." She pleaded with Eden, though it was clear she wanted nothing to do with her or her hotel.

"Alastor is going to be there." Eden said in a stern tone, full well knowing her killer is going to be at the hotel.

"No, I promise, he's not there! In fact, we haven't seen him since the fight!" Charlie exclaims in a desperate tone, she seriously wanted Eden at her hotel. She was hoping she could show her that redemption works and that her husband was the bad guy. She hoped she could free her from his clutches.

"Oh, what do we have here?" They heard someone speak and they turn their heads up and were surprised to see Lucifer flying above them. "Well, aren't you a sight for swore eyes. An angel in Hell after the bullshit that happened?" He asked in a mocking tone as he flew down to them, getting right between them.

Eden narrowed her eyes on Lucifer as she took a step back away from him. "And I'm assuming your Lucifer?" she asked in a harsh tone.

Lucifer chuckled as he took his hat off to bow to her. "In the flesh, my lady." He said in a flirting tone before putting his hat back on. "I assume you are Adam's...wife." He asked in an annoyed tone, making Eden frown. Lucifer's eyes scanned over her body, almost as if he was checking her out, which caused Eden to scoff in disgust as she spread her wings out and wrapped them around her body. "Oh, they look just like Adam's, but...smaller." Lucifer comments as he eyed her wings. He then looked away from her and back at his daughter. "What is she doing here, Charlie? Does she know what happened to Adam?" HE asked as he gestures at Eden.

"She's here for Adam's body, dad." Charlie answered, causing Lucifer to suck in some air, as he knew this was going to be hard to break it to her.

He then turned back to Eden. "Well...we have his wings, but his body...was eaten by cannibals, much like the rest of the exorcists." He said, causing Eden's eyes to widen in horror.

"WHAT!? You allowed their bodies to get EATEN instead of at LEAST offering them proper burels!" She shouts in anger as her wings spread out to show her anger. She couldn't believe that these monsters did that to her husband and their girls.

"Well, murderers don't really get the privilege of a proper burial, now do they?" Lucifer asked in a smug tone, causing Eden to sneer at him.

"The exterminations was approved by YOU! So, you don't get to punishment them by not offering them proper burials." She growled out in anger.

"She's right, dad!" Charlie exclaims as she gets between them, worried that another fight might break out. "You DID approve of the exterminations, and we can at least offer them proper burials." She said in a soft tone, causing her father to back down.

"I suppose you're right, sweetheart." He said, making Eden roll her eyes at how quick he was to switch up his tone. "I suppose, you would want us to bury Adam's wings." Lucifer asked Eden, who crossed her arms and nodded her head.

"I would love that, but that's not why I showed up." She said, confusing them.

"Oh, so why did you show up?" Lucifer asked this time, as he narrowed his eyes on her.

Eden frowned, she knew she didn't WANT to tell him why she was down there in Hell, but she knew he wouldn't leave her alone if she didn't tell him, and he wouldn't let her go. "If I remember, Adam told you how him and I are connected by our souls, right?" She asked.

They nodded their heads. "Yes, he mentioned something about that, and I feel so sorry for you." Charlie said in a soft tone, making Eden pissed.

"I don't need your pity, especially since I am happy in my marriage." Eden growled out in anger and annoyance.

"How can you be happy when you don't have control over your actions?" Lucifer asked with a frown. "Everything you do, it's all Adam. Your hatred towards sinners, Adam. Your love for a certain type of music. Adam. Your love for ribs, Adam. Everything about you is all just...Adam."

Eden frowned at this. "Look, do you want to hear why I am here, or are you planning to spew some bullshit about free will to me?" She asked in a harsh tone, causing them to shut up. "Thank you. Now anyway, as I was saying. Adam and I are connected because we share the same soul, so when he died, his part of his soul SHOULD have gone back to me." She explains.

"Ah, so in other words...Adam is alive inside you?" Charlie asked, cutting Eden off. "Man, now I feel even MORE sorry for you." She said, causing Eden to growl in anger.

"Charlie, sweetheart, let her explain." Lucifer said in a soft tone, knowing the angel was close to attacking his daughter, and he wanted to know why she was down there in Hell, so he didn't want to kill her.

"Your daughter got it half right." Eden said, confusing them. "All two weeks I didn't feel the other half of his soul return, so I thought it was lost forever, that was until...I felt it, but not in me, but in Hell." She explains, shocking them.

"Wait, so you're telling me, Adam is still alive down here!?" Charlie asked in horror. Sure, the man had tried to murder her and all her friends, succussing in killing one of them, but she was one who NEVER likes violence, even when it was on her worse enemy.

Lucifer smirked, finding this news quite musing. Because it means, Adam was in HIS territory now and he could do whatever he wanted to him. Eden noticed this smirk and got a feeling what the king of Hell was planning. So, she decided to act quickly. "Yes, but since I am half of his other soul, I can feel when it's pure or not. And his soul is still pure." She lied to them, hoping they fell for it, since it's a believable lie.

Lucifer frowned at this, as his eyes scanned over her body. He couldn't see any sign of her turning into a sinner, so it proved to him that she was right. Adam's soul was still pure, meaning he still belonged to Heaven.

"So, I can track him down by using my soul, so if you please, I would like to get to doing that." Eden said as she tried to leave.

"Hold up now!" Lucifer says, stopping her from leaving, which caused her to groan in annoyance. "This is still MY territory, and I can't have you just roaming around Hell looking for Adam. I'm going with you." He said in a stern tone, causing Eden to frown.

"I-I am too!" Charlie shouts, stepping forward. "If Adam is still alive, I must take accountably!" She explains, causing Eden to relax slightly, happy to know that at least she was taking accountable for what they did to her husband.

"Look, I appreciate the offer and all...but if I do find him, I don't think he would want to see me hanging around you." Eden said as she pointed at Lucifer, who frowned.

"What, he has issues with you hanging out with other males?" He asked as he crossed his arms.

Eden and his daughter stared at him with deadpanned expression. "Dad, you did steal both of Adam's wives. So, of course he's not going to appreciate seeing his third wife near you." Charlie said.

"Oh, come on, he's the one who claimed I couldn't seduce her like the last two! Which I can totally prove wrong~" He flirted with Eden, wiggling his eyebrows, making the angel cringe in disgust.

"Do you get some sick pleasure at stealing other men's wives, or is it just Adam?" She asked in a blunt tone. "Because it makes me feel like you are jealous and want him to yourself."

Charlie's eyes widened before she snickered, finding what she said funny. While Lucifer's eyes widened in horror. "I HAVE ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR THAT PIECE OF SHIT!" He shouts, flaming sparking out of his mouth.

"Could've fooled me by the way you said you'll fuck him, according to Lute." Eden said in a blunt tone, as she turned to walk out of the alley.

"That was a mistake! I didn't mean to say that!" He shouts as he chased after her, waving his apple cane in the air.

"So...are we going to the hotel first? Because I think I should inform Vaggie where I am going." Charlie said in a worried tone, making Eden groan in annoyance.

"Fine, only because I know little Luci here would probably just-" Eden couldn't finish her sentence as she found herself in the middle of the hotel. "Teleport us to the hotel." She finished her sentence with a frown.

Everyone in the hotel, who were sitting on the couch looked over at them and Vaggie jumped from her spot, summoning her spear to point at Eden as she glared at her. "What in the HELL is she doing here, Charlie!?" She demanded.

Charlie rushed over to get between her girlfriend and Eden. "She's here to look for Adam. According to her, since they share the same soul, she can feel that he's still alive down here." She explained, causing everyone else to react as Eden expected.

"WHAT!? ARE YOU FUCKEN KIDDING ME!?" Cherri shouts in pure rage as she tossed her drink to the floor, causing it to shatter.

"How is the fucker still alive!? I mean, Niffty stabbed him...how many times!?" Husk asked with a huff as he crossed his arms.

"57 times!" Niffty answered which creeped them all out.

"Look, we don't really know how he's still alive, but Eden is here to bring him back up to Heaven and-" Charlie tries to calm everyone down, but it only gets worse.

"WHAT!? HOW IS THAT FUCKER ALLOWED BACK UP IN HEAVEN AFTER THE SHIT HE DID TO US!?" Cherri asked in pure rage before putting her focus on Eden. "You do know what your little HUSBAND did to us, right!?" She asked with a sneer, causing Eden to sneer right back at her.

"If you are referring to the exterminations, let's not forget that Vag-gie here is an ex-exorcist, who killed sinners as well." Eden said in a harsh tone as she gestured over to Vaggie, who frowned at the way she pronounced her name.

"Yes, but she turned a new leaf, and didn't kill our friend!" Angel shouts as he crossed the upper set of his arms.

"Yes, that friend who was aiming to blast my husband to obliteration." Eden retorted in a sarcastic tone.

"You can't possibly be defending that asshole right now, when he's nothing but a controlling asshole to you!" Vaggie shouts as she narrowed her eyes on her.

"Vaggie, when have you EVER seen my husband "control" me?" Eden asked in a harsh tone, wanting to know why she thinks her husband was controlling her.

"He um...I heard him once tell you that your song list sucked and ordered you to listen to his!" Vaggie says in a smug tone, as if she just won the argument. Everyone in the hotel stared at her in disbelief, before even they could tell that was a bullshit reason to believe someone was controlling.

"Vaggie, please remember that I am practically the other half of Adam's soul. So, in other words, I am just a female version of him. Everyone he likes, I like. Everything he dislikes, I dislike. He was never controlling me, he was RECCREMENDING me something he likes, which by default, I like." Eden explains in a sharp tone.

"She...has a point." Husk points out and everyone looked over at him in shock. "I mean, as she said. She's practically the female version of Adm. She has the other half of his soul, so it wasn't like he was controlling her. If he recommended something to her, she went along with it, because she truly liked it." He explains.

Eden lips twitched a bit, trying to hold back a smile, happy that at least this cat sinner gets it. "Anyway, the only sin my husband had committed, was cussing, which if I'm pretty honest, is petty as fuck. There are far worse sins out there, and they worry about words?" She muttered with a frown.

Cherri grumbled as she clutched the bomb in her hand. She was still heartbroken by Sir Pentious's death, that this angel was starting to piss her off. "Pentious is still dead because of him!" She shouts.

"Well, if this makes you feel any better. He's alive up in Heaven." Eden said shocking them all.

"Wait...really?" Charlie whispered as tears started to well up in her eyes. "He got into Heaven.

Eden nodded her head, shocking them. "I was surprised as well. Before I left Heaven, they were hosting a meeting to come to an agreement to do with him. I don't know what they agreed to, but seeing as he's not down here, it appears he's allowed to stay up in Heaven."

This caused Charlie to shout in excitement as Cherri sighed in relief. "So, now that is out of the way...may I go look for my husband?" Eden asked in a harsh tone as she narrowed her eyes at all of them.
