Bill remembers meeting Harry Potter, fresh from his muggles house the day before the Quidditch world cup. His youngest brother's best friend, who was a head shorter then Ginny and far too skinny, dressed in a ragged worn down shirt that clung onto his bony shoulders and jeans that were rolled too many times to be comfortable.
Bill shared a look with Fred who was scowling at the fireplace from his spot behind Harry, George was smiling a strained smile as they joked about something. The twins had mentioned how they didn't think the muggles treated him well, he could see their point.
Harry was brave, and already far more powerful then anyone Bill had ever met.
He didn't meet him very often after that.
His wedding jumped out at him, Harry creeping around the house under polyjuice, Fleur had insisted he be there, not that Bill wouldn't have wanted him there. Fleur and Viktor had both approached Harry and they'd gotten lost chatting for nearly a half hour before getting pulled away for other conversations. And then he was gone. Disappearing with Ron and Hermione into the warzone.
The next time he'd seen any of them in person had been after they escaped the Malfoy Manor. Ron had already been lost to them, Harry had apologized for failing to protect him. Bill didn't blame him, it had been Ron's choice to leave his friends behind.
It was during that short two weeks of Harry staying at Shell Cottage to recover that Fleur told Bill she wanted Harry to be their first childs Godfather. So they sat him down, told him they had a daughter on the wayy and they'd like him to be the Godfather. Harry had cried. He told them he was Edward Lupin's Godfather already and he didn't understand why they'd want him.
He left a week later, promising to be there for the welcoming ceremony for their daughter.
The war raged on, the Goblins sent Bill a letter telling him about the break-in and escape, letting him know that when the war was over they'd be willing to work it out with Harry.
They welcomed Victoire Apolline Weasley.
The war ended. Hermione having to orphan herself to protect her parents and Harry already being a Weasley in all but name were welcomed into the Weasley family with open arms.
The first time Bill saw Harry after the war had been nearly a month since the battle. Fred and George had approached Bill before dinner and asked him to help teach Harry how to control his magic.
Bill will always remember the feeling of stepping into Harry's room that day. The candles were blazing, the air was crackling with defensive and paranoid magic that roiled almost visible as it snapped around the space. Harry had tucked himself into the farthest vorner of the room, messy black hair made messier with his shaking hands buried in it, his face buried in his knees as he rocked in place taking deep breaths trying to calm himself.
He looked so small, Bill's protective older sibling instincts lashed to the forefront as he rushed over to the younger man to calm his panic and make a game plan.
Bill had flinched when those haunted killing curse green eyes that glowed with power and darkened with fear had looked up at him, the scar that was once small, looking like the Sowilo rune, always raised and irritated in a way that made Bill's fingers itch and magic snap in a constant want to take him aside and scan it for lingering dark magic, was now a massive cracking black scar that spidered across half of his face reminiscent of a leafless tree in winter.
"Do you know what happens to your magic when you die with no blood family left?"
"It rejoins the world magic, in the ley lines."
"What if you come back?"
Bill had sat and held his littlest brother until well after dinner time. His magic slowly working around Harry's, guiding it in more productive ways to expend itself that wouldn't risk violent reactions. He could hear the twins making excuses for the two of them the whole time.
Bill brought back Harry to Shell Cottage at Fleur's insistence. Wanting to help in anyway he'd allow them.
He'd sat with Harry through his whole Gringotts negotiations, and his discovery of exactly who he was. Bill was the first wix to welcome Hadrian Peverall-Black to the world. He also helped him find reliable mind-healers with the Goblins help setting up a contract.
Bill spent months building rune complexes to help redirect Hadrian's magic in productive ways. Sitting for hours talking about runes and tattoos with Charlie, Charlie had his own magical tattoos, he'd know best how they effect magic.
The day Bill had sat Hadrian down to carve and cast runes into his skin Luna Lovegood and her husband had shown up. When Bill finished with Hadrian's first arm, his magic exhausted and tingling where it was mixing with Hadrian's, Luna had tattooed a Pheonix who sat on Hadrian's wrist pulse point, a massive Basilisk that coiled around the length of his arm, resting it massive head right above what was clearly a giant puncture scar, and an Acromantula on his collarbone, all still for the moment but Bill knew they'd move.
Rolf Scamander had carried his exhausted wife home and said they'd probably be back when Bill was ready to do the other arm. Hadrian had traced his fingers over the runes and creatures rhythmically, unable to activate the runes until Samhain, by then they'd all be done, but he thanked Bill profusely for all he was doing to help.
Luna'd shown up to do many tattoos for Hadrian before Samhain, but the ones she did on the day Bill was activating the runes had clearly been painful in every way. Bill had kindly averted his gaze from the two as Hadrian cried.
Hadrian improved by leaps and bounds afterwards, he'd stepped up to actually accepting an apprenticeship at St. Mungos, and finished his masteries
Bill gave him an apprenticeship to learn about Curse-breaking at his request because the Unspeakables had given him a license without training him.
The first time Victoire falls sick Hadrian wants to take her to St. Mungos and is shocked to learn she wouldn't be allowed in, neither would Bill, Fleur, or Teddy if Andromeda tried to take him, so they had private healers they contracted.
Hadrian brings Hermione into the fold and the two have already begun their plots to change the classification of creatures as well as Hermione's rise to power, her goals to be the first muggleborn Minister. Her fiance Viktor Krum and her best friend Hadrian Peverall-Black are both far too happy to sponser her ascent.
Hadrian makes plans to move back to Grimmauld place shortly after his apprenticeship under Bill ends, and Bill is looking into taking on a part Troll apprentice that the Goblins told him the year prior had been wokring to accomplish several masteries just to work with him.
Bill decides Hermione and Charlie would be great Godparents for Dominique, when she arrived.
