Work Text:
“Our flight is canceled today.”
Wonwoo let out a low hum of reply. Wearing casual clothes and sitting comfortably on the blue sofa in their shared apartment, his fingers kept stroking Mingyu’s silky dark locks, eyes didn’t leave the kakaotalk group chat exclusive for work-related matters, until he hit the send button of his own confirmation. Finally, he let his whole attention shift to his roommate slash business partner, who made himself cozy lying down on the sofa and let his head rest on his thigh. He was currently staring at him with sparkling eyes.
(Ah, those shirt and pants, this puppy is wearing his clothes again.)
Wonwoo didn’t stop the helpless amusement trickling out of his voice. “I see you’re pleased with this turn of events.”
The younger man grinned, showing off a pair of fangs that many fans come to adore—himself included.
“Nothing can be helped since the weather decided to be less friendly. Besides, we have more time alone today,” Mingyu said, nuzzling his head further into Wonwoo’s abdomen.
“True.” He caressed that sharp jawline, gliding down to the younger man’s chin, and tickled the spot much like stroking an adorable pup. “We’ll have an even tighter schedule with this delay, though,” he reminded him gently.
A hum from Mingyu this time. “I don’t mind. We’ll work hard as usual.”
A tranquility filled the room for a while, until Mingyu suddenly spoke again,
“Hyung, have you seen my latest magazine shoots?” He asked, reaching out to hold Wonwoo’s hand, which the older man gladly reciprocated. Their fingers were entwined now, pale skin against healthy tan that created such striking contrast.
When the younger man saw a nod, he continued,
“What do you think of them? They came out well, right?”
“… Min-ah, are you fishing for compliments now?”
Mingyu pouted—a devastating image which made him even more adorable in Wonwoo’s eyes.
(It had been like that since forever, and the members never missed the opportunity to tease him relentlessly whenever they caught Wonwoo going moon-eyed at the taller man.)
“I want to hear you praise me more,” the 27-year-old man shamelessly said, still pouting. He squeezed their interlocked fingers and carried on, “You rarely praise me in front of others too.”
Now Wonwoo could hear the sulk that was undisguised. Yet, his attention was split. Mingyu’s eyes were fixed on him, mesmerizing, captivating. Those healthy, lush pink lips sticking out and his cheeks puffed out.
So Wonwoo let his free hand rest on Mingyu’s jawline. The pad of his thumb pressed on the seam of Mingyu’s lips. He bowed his head, ensuring the younger man’s focus didn’t stray for a second as he opened his mouth,
“My Min-ah always looks so good in whatever he does, in whatever he wears,” he declared honestly. In flash, Wonwoo caught how Mingyu’s eyes widened in return, lips parting in surprise, and the way his expression conveyed astonishment. Then, happiness bloomed in those sparkling brown orbs, ears bleeding red in what Wonwoo knew as embarrassment, but the pleased smile on his face was enough to serve as a telltale of his genuine feeling.
He licked Wonwoo’s thumb that was caught between his lips, grinning widely like a cheeky brat he was. Really, this puppy of his. However, Wonwoo was not done yet.
“But Min-ah, do you know the reason why I rarely praise you in public?”
Mingyu blinked. Then he tilted his head confusedly. “No?”
“This expression—” Wonwoo lowered his gaze, pressing his thumb a bit further inside Mingyu’s parted lips, peering down at the younger man with heavy lids. “—your bright eyes, along with this beautiful smile, it isn’t easy to restrain myself from kissing the living daylight out of you whenever you’re like this.”
And he slid his thumb out, tenderly caressing Mingyu’s warm cheek with knuckles before leaning back and smiling lightly at his stunned roommate.
“Wha— Wonwoo-hyung!” Mingyu cried out, wide-eyed and cheeks flaming. He quickly sat up, pressing their bodies flush together, and shook their entwined hands. “Hyung, you’re teasing me again!”
“I’m not,” the 28-year-old man denied, chuckling all the way. “Min-ah, I have good self-control, but my eyes keep giving it away. You see how many times our members tease me—which I don’t mind, by the way.”
For a while, there was only silence following. Then the weight beside him disappeared. Before Wonwoo could think of anything, Mingyu suddenly sat on his lap, crowding his personal space with an intent that could not be misunderstood.
“We’re home now, hyung,” the younger man uttered in small voice, putting his hands on those broad shoulders while crimson blush adorned his cheeks. There was a shy, bashful smile on his handsome face. “It’s just the two of us here… so there’s no need to hold back.”
And Wonwoo couldn’t stop the soft, fond gaze that overflowed from his eyes—all for the man in front of him. His soulmate, his North Star.
His Kim Mingyu.
“Then, Min-ah, I’ll take that as a permission.”
