Chapter 1: Three trouble making mages
Chapter Text
He ran his whole life, running was his thing. Fleeing from the corrupt Talongaurd, fleeing from dire situations that would’ve costed him his life. It was simple; run when the going gets tough. So why wasn’t he running now? Well that’s easy, he’s got a group of people to look out for him or at least that what he thought.
The group was in the midst of fighting not one, not two but three heavily armed mages. Toa and Hyrja was doing most of the heavy fighting like always and Felix did what he usually does in this kind of situation; he casted detect magic on all three of them. “Guys be careful one of them has Lust magic” Felix relayed, his entire party with the exception of the two fighting in the front lines glanced back at him with puzzled looks on their faces. “Lust magic? That’s a thing?” Caprice excitedly asked. “Yea” the only human in the party sighed “it’s a type of forbidden magic, so be careful” he added his tone as serious as ever. “Well if you say so” the Tiefling shrugged.
“These two were easy to defeat, who would’ve thought that if you bum rush mages they’d become useless” Hyrja breathed heavily as she tied up the two male mages she and Toa took down. “Now where’d that lady mage go?” She asked herself looking around for the last mage. Spotting the last mage, Hyrja froze “FELIX BEHIND YOU!” She yelled running after Felix, Toa following close behind her.
One minute he was on a road and then the next he was in the middle of the woods. A sharp pain in his side made his body go slack. “What the fuck…?” Felix mumbled through the numbing that was traveling through out his body. “You’re a mage…what’s with the dagger…” he sheepishly asked. The mage behind him chuckled “I could ask you the same thing, all Talongaurd have daggers even though they’re mages correct; so why can’t I have one”. The wizard froze at the mention of the Talongaurd. “Y-you’re not part of the military are you?” He nervously asked. The woman behind him pressed up further against him, snaking her arms around his waist pulling Felix closer towards her. The woman placed her head in the crook of his neck inhaling his sent “Me a part of the military? You’ve got it wrong I too am wanted by them simply because of my magic” the woman’s hands shone with a dark rose-pink color. She slowly brought her hands to her captives neck; the dark rose-pink in her hands disappearing slowly as if it was being absorbed.
Felix’s body burned, it was as if someone lit him on fire. He tried to scream but a hand covered his mouth muffling his cries. “Now, now, we don’t want your friends to know where we are right this second. You’ll get your chance to see them again scout’s honor and all that” she whispered softly. The woman released her hold on her captive; without the mage holding him up, Felix dropped to the forest floor with a soft thud. A barely audible groan escaped from his lips. The woman bent down patting his hatted-head. “I’ll take this back thank you~” she graciously replied. The mage gripped the handle of her dagger and slowly—almost torturously—pulled it from Felix’s side. Before he could scream out in pain, once again she placed her hand on his mouth muffling his cries of agony. After wiping the blood off of the blade she placed it back in its holster. The mage leaned forward placing her hands on Felix’s chest engulfing them in darkness. The woman stood up, stepping over the wizards body and disappeared down the road leaving him bleeding out in a small patch of grass unable to move on his own. Felix watched her walk away then everything faded to black.
Chapter 2: His Blue Bird, Her Human Summoner
Chapter Text
The sky was clear, like most days in Coravachia. The grass was green and beautiful and…bloody…wait, bloody? Oh right, Felix was attacked and now he’s bleeding out on a bed of grass next to the dirt road with red crimson blood staining his hands and his shirt. After waking up from passing out, Felix tried to put pressure on the wound in his side but whatever that mage did to him made him extremely weak; the blood loss was a factor as well.
A little Blue Bird carefully crawled out from Felix’s coat; onto his chest after being summoned by a familiar whistle. “Beatrice…go find the others…bring them back here…” Felix all but whispered but the blue bird understood what was said. Beatrice gave her human a nod, giving him a slight nuzzle to the cheek before flying off.
It didn’t take long for her to find everyone else. Beatrice flew down, perching on top of Caprice’s left horn chirping to get their attention. “Beatrice? What is she doing here?” Hyrja asked walking up to Caprice. The dwarf extended her finger to the Blue Bird who happily jumped onto it. “I dunno Hyrja, did Felix send her?” Caprice answered with a question of his own. “Well she is his bird, he had to have sent her who else would’ve if it wasn’t Felix” Iris inquired. “Beatrice, do you know where Felix is?” Toa spoke up causing the Blue Bird to tweet and fly off in the directing she came. “Follow that bird!” Caprice exclaimed. Everyone nodded and followed the blue and orange bellied bird.
The group followed Beatrice at a hastily pace. Walking turned into speed walking and speed walking turned into full on running once they saw a body. A body wearing a Burgundy hat. A body that was wearing Felix’s exact outfit. And there was blood. A shit ton of blood. “FELIX!!” Toa yelled running as fast as he could to the human limp on the bloodied grass. The Goliath placed his maul gently on the ground and scooped the passed out Felix into his arms. “Felix! Wake up come on!” Toa cried desperately to the unmoving and unresponsive human in his arms. “Toa, darling, lean down and allow me to heal him” Iris’s words were soft and comforting. Toa didn’t only lean down, he got onto his knees. Iris smiled and placed a paw on Felix’s chest. A Sandy Golden light radiated from the Tabaxi’s black paw surrounding the wound in Felix’s side causing it to close up.
Even though he was finally healed and out of the danger zone, Felix was still unmoving and unresponsive in Toa’s arms. “Isn’t he supposed to wake up” Caprice surmised. “I dunno Caprichie, he lost a lot of blood he is just a human” Hyrja shrugged patting her Tiefling friend on the back. “Well his bird hasn’t disappeared so we know he’s not dead” Lufti mentioned; motioning to the Blue Bird standing on her summoners forehead. “Hyrja and Lufti have a good point, the Blue Bird hasn’t faded away into nothingness and he has lost a fair amount of blood, Felix not waking up isn’t abnormal but I’m worried about what that mage might’ve done to him” Iris added. The group nodded in understanding. Toa picked his maul up off the ground securing it to his side. “I’m worried about that too, but we have to keep moving standing here won’t get us any closer to where we want to be” he paused for a moment taking a minute to glance down at the man limp in his arms covered in his own drying blood. “Felix will wake up soon, but for now we have to keep moving”. Everyone looked at Toa and nodded. “You’re right big guy, let’s get going Felix will wake up I’ve got faith” Caprice sighed and begun his trudge down the dirt road; everyone following suit behind him. Toa a bit further back but still close.
