Work Text:
Huyang had no worries when Ahsoka announced that she would be leaving on a mission with Hera and leaving the ship and him in Sabine’s care. Despite how often he disparaged the young padawan, he did not think she was irresponsible or incapable of maintaining things around the place. Especially when she also had Ezra, joined at her hip and always ready to help her.
There was also the fact that Huyang, being a droid, didn’t have feelings, and couldn’t feel afraid. Although, somehow, the noises that he had been hearing on the ship, made him feel something he was sure he would define as fright if he had been able to feel such an emotion.
The first time was when he was re-organizing his parts in his workroom. At first he thought it was the moving shelves creaking. But he heard the noises even when they weren’t moving.
“Oooohhh. OHHH!” He heard echoing in the room around him. But when he looked around, there was no one to be seen.
However, the sound never returned. So he just chalked it up to his hearing being off. He’d have to make the proper adjustments to his audio sensors later.
But then when he was preparing dinner for Sabine and Ezra last night, he heard the noises again.
“Ohhhh OHHH!” He heard echoing in the room around him.
And just like before, no one was around. It sounded like a woman moaning. But there was no woman around to moan. So it couldn’t be. It simply couldn’t be. But yet, he was hearing it.
“Oh! Oh! Oh Gods yes!” He heard the voice shouting.
Huyang began to hold his hands to himself in worry as he looks around the room, desperately searching for the source of the sounds. But he couldn’t see anyone around.
He had no idea what this could mean. Well, he did have one idea. But it seemed impossible. Well, not too impossible. Force ghosts existed. But other types of ghosts? Surely those were just myths. Children's fables thought up by children themselves. There was no way that ghosts could actually be haunting the ship.
Then he heard a high pitched shriek and the caf pot suddenly shattered into a million pieces on the floor out of thin air.
And for the first time in his life, Huyang screamed. And he fled the ship.
When he returned. He found Sabine and Ezra in the cockpit, smiling and delightedly chatting with each other like there wasn’t something terrible happening on board this ship. No, instead Sabine was just sitting on the arm of Ezra’s chair and giggling at something he said while placing her hand on his bicep.
Truly despicable behavior. Not in line with Jedi protocol in the slightest. If there were ghosts haunting the ship, why couldn’t they haunt those two reckless teenagers turned reckless adults instead of him. What did he ever do to deserve this?
That was a question he found himself asking again as he was working on fixing the ship’s piloting controls, and he heard the spooky moans filling the room once again.
Huyang pulled himself out from under the ship’s control panel.
“Spirits? Are you there?” He nervously asks.
“YES!” The female voice shouts. “Oh yes!”
The spirits! They answered him. Huyang quickly scrambled to his knees, as if he were in prayer as he clasped his hands together and reached out to the disembodied voice as he saw his tools begin to shake on the ground, despite him not touching them.
“Oh spirits! I don’t know why you haunt this ship, or make yourself known to me but please, tell me how I may help you find peace and leave this place be!” Huyang pledges.
“YES!” He hears the woman’s voice shout again.
“Uh… no offense but that does not answer my question-” Huyang starts then flinches as one of the windows in the cockpit suddenly smashes as the loud cries of a man and woman together grow louder as they echo throughout the room.
“Oh I’m so sorry if I have angered you spirits!” Huyang prays. “Please forgive me for not understanding what you are trying to tell me! Please, say it again!”
“Yes!” The woman’s voice shouts.
“Good! Tell me what you want then?” Huyang asks.
“More! Give me more!” The woman’s voice shouts.
“More?” Huyang asks. “More what?”
“Oh! Ohhhh!” Both the man and woman moan.
No more words came from either of the spirits. But instruments on the ship’s console started breaking all around him. The poor droid was too frightened to mourn the amount of work he would now be subjected to do from the damage these spirits were causing.
But then a different fear crept in. If these spirits could now mangle metal objects and tools, then what could they do to him?! With that horrifying thought he fled the room.
Huyang paced the training area of the ship as he thought about what to do about these troublesome spirits. Part of him felt like he should tell Sabine and Ezra about them. But he knew the two of them would never believe him. However, he knew that Ahsoka would and thankfully she was coming home today.
“Hello Huyang!” Ahsoka says as she and Hera enter the ship. “How have things been while I’ve been away?”
“Oh Lady Tano it is awful! Truly awful what has happened!” Huyang exclaims.
“What? Something’s happened?” Ahsoka asks. “Are Sabine and Ezra alright?”
“Yes! Lady Wren and Master Bridger are fine! A fact that shocks me considering the circumstances.” Huyang says.
“Which are?” Ahsoka asks.
“That we are being haunted by ghosts!” Huyang explains.
Ahsoka and Hera look at each other then look back at Huyang.
“Ghosts?” Ahsoka asks.
“Like Force ghosts?” Hera asks.
“No! Scary ghosts! Like the ones from all those stories the younglings would tell each other around a campfire!” Huyang exclaims.
“And why do you think such spirits are haunting you?” Ahsoka asks.
“Because I hear things!” Huyang exclaims. “Horrible things. Spooky moans all throughout the ship, things breaking out of nowhere! I’ve had to perform so many repairs all over the ship and the worst part is that Lady Wren and Master Bridger don’t seem to be affected by it at all! The two of them are just running around giggling and chatting away while I’m running around the ship, horrified at being broken by some invisible force!”
Ahsoka and Hera couldn’t contain their laughter anymore and exploded into a fit of giggles.
“Why are the two of you laughing? This is not funny!” Huyang protests.
“Oh but it is!” Hera says and wipes tears from her eyes.
“Huyang… Are Sabine and Ezra ever around when these incidents occur?” Ahsoka asks.
“Well…no. But I don’t see what that has anything to do with it?” Huyang replies.
“Huyang…” Ahsoka says with another short laugh. “Those noises you’re hearing…they’re not haunting. They’re horny!”
Hera and Ahsoka laugh again and Huyang seems even more confused.
“Horny? Who on this ship would be-” Huyang starts and as if on cue, Sabine and Ezra stumble out of her bunk area, giggling as he hugs her around the waist to try to keep her upright as he buries his face in her neck.
“That was great Ez…But next time…give me more.” Sabine moans softly and Huyang shudders as he recognizes that as the moaning woman’s voice.
“As much as you want love.” Ezra says and his low moan allowed Huyang to place it as the male voice he had been hearing.
“Just try not to break anything with the Force this time, cyar'ika?” Sabine suggests.
“I’ll do my best.” Ezra promises and Sabine giggles as Ezra places another quick peck on her lips.
“Found your ghosts.” Ahsoka tells Huyang with a smirk and she and Hera laugh as he sulks off.
