“You’re kidding, right?” Rodney asked. “Dracula?”
John had the nerve to look confused. “What’s wrong with Dracula?”
“Oh, I dunno, everything?” Rodney glanced at the DVD case in John’s hand and shuddered. “We are not watching that for team movie night.”
“Why not?”
“Vampires.”
“What have you got against vampires?”
“Oh, maybe the fact that I live in a galaxy that’s actually populated with a race of life-sucking monsters?” This seemed obvious, and yet. “Why would I wanna watch a movie about blood-sucking monsters?”
Shrugging, John tossed Dracula back to the bedside table. He snuggled close to Rodney’s side and kissed his cheek. “Because vampires are cool.”
“Oh, great. Can’t we watch something else cool, something that doesn’t involve vampires?”
“I don’t exactly have my complete monster movie collection on Atlantis, Rodney.” With a contented sigh, John curled even closer. He hooked one leg across Rodney’s and pressed another kiss to his cheek, then one to his neck. “It’s vampires, or nothing.”
Rodney glared at him, even though this snuggling was seriously distracting him from his rant. “Seriously? You’ve been smuggling movies onto Atlantis since we reestablished contact with Earth. Are you seriously telling me you don’t have any other monster movies?”
“I guess there’s always The Giant Gila Monster. Or Alien.”
“Anything other than vampires.” Realizing something, Rodney paused. “Whoa, hang on. This is all part of some twisted scheme!”
“Scheme?” John asked innocently.
“Yeah, so that I’ll get scared and cuddle with you! That’s a classic. And a waste of time.”
“Cuddling is not a waste of time.”
“No, but you don’t need to scare me with vampires to get me to cuddle with you.” Rodney rested his head on John’s shoulder and smiled. “Obviously.”
Chuckling, John kissed his head. “Okay, that’s a good point. No vampires needed.”
