Chapter 26

Notes:

Sorry for lack of chapters. This story I don't touch unless I'm mentally low. So I guess you could say that when a new chapter comes out I'm not doing so good. Which is true! Anyway I hope you enjoy. I also do commission stories now so if interested feel free to reach out to me.

Chapter Text

Mackenzie laid on his bed. He looked to the ceiling. An early silence filled the room. He didn't know what to do. What to feel. He felt lost. “Am I really that broken, I can't even feel correctly…” he closed his eyes. Taking a moment to just breathe slow and heavy breaths. Exactly how his therapist instructed him. Clear his mind and let the moment pass. As he did this he waited. Waited for this uncertain emotional confusion to pass. But the more he waited the more it lingered. “It doesn't work…” he told himself as he stopped the instructed breathing exercise. He just laid there letting the feeling fester.

Bluey was distracted for the day. Mackenzie's words echoing in her head. Was he worth the pain? But of course he is! He's her best friend, her boyfriend, her true love. And yet that seed of doubt was planted. Bluey sat in bed pondering when chilli noticed bluey as she walked by. She entered the bedroom. “Hey bluey, how are you?” She softly said as she sat on the bed beside her.

“Not that good.” Bluey admitted. “Mum, would you do anything for Dad? To help him and keep him safe.” She suddenly asked.

“Of course I would, sweetie.” Chilli gently smiled.

“Even if doing it could cause you pain?” Chilli's smile faltered on hearing that.

“Well to answer your question. Yes I would. When you love someone unconditionally you would withstand anything for them. Your dad for me is someone I would die for.” Chilli was honest and heartfelt in her words. “I'm assuming Mackenzie said something to you.”

“He said if he's worth suffering pain for. I say of course but now I have feelings of doubt in me.”

“Don't.” Chilli said as she placed her paw on blueys lap. “I've watched you grow from such a precious young pup to the wonderful young woman that you are. And in that time I saw how you were with him. You love him just as I love Bandit. There's nothing to question. Nothing to doubt. No matter how much he will try to push you away I know in my heart you will always be there for him. And that makes me so proud of you.”

Bluey smiled hearing that. She wrapped her arms around chilli in a big hug. “Thanks mum.”

Chilli smiled, hugging back and rubbing blueys back. “Oh of course bluey. And remember me and your dad are always here for you.” Chilli kissed the top of Bluey's head.

“I think I'll call him.” Bluey smiled.

Mackenzie was alone still in his room. He hasn't bothered leaving it since getting home. He sulked as sadness enveloped him. He felt lonely. He knows his parents are there and they love him yet he feels alone. “Why do I feel like this? I shouldn't feel like this!” He said in frustration to himself. He laid flat on his back looking to the ceiling. “I should be doing something. Anything. Yet here I am in bed doing nothing… just, existing, wasting away.” He turned to his side. “And then they wonder why I tried to end it. What good could I do in life if I'm sitting around doing nothing. Even if I had something I just don't have the motivation for it. I'm tired of everything.” He looked up towards his window. The afternoon sun, shining. “I wish bluey was here… who am I kidding, I'm going to lose her too and it'll be my fault…” suddenly his phone rang. He turned around and reached for it seeing who was calling. He picked up. “Bluey?”

“Hey Mackenzie, I wanted to call you. To talk to you. I… I miss you.” She softly said.

Mackenzie felt a bang in his heart. “You miss me?” He said with a shaky tone.

“Yeah and I thought about what you said and I have my answer. I would. No matter what happens, no matter how bad it gets. No matter how much I could get hurt. I won't leave you. I'm by your side. Always.” there was confidence in her voice. Mackenzie didn't just hear what she said. He felt it and it brought tears to his eyes. He felt guilty, sure but he felt loved.

“Thank you Bluey, I… I needed to hear that.” His voice shook like crazy as tears fell. “I

love you…”

“I love you too…”
