Chapter Text
A few weeks had passed and the weird dreams slipped away like a distant memory. Luckily Soobin’s dreams now consisted of his normal everyday life or some weird version of it like before. This also meant that his sleep schedule had returned to normal and he actually felt refreshed. Well as normal as it can get for a uni student who waited until the last minute to do every assignment and study for every test. This includes last night where he stayed up til 1am to study for a test he definitely failed.
Soobin walks towards the back of the library where he sees his friends in their usual spot, sitting and chatting amongst themselves. As he gets closer he can hear whispers arguing about something which made him shoot other students an apologetic smile as he went to his seat.
“You guys are whispering so loud I’m surprised you didn’t notice other people staring at you” Soobin commented as he pulled out his lunch and laptop before he sat down. Since he had spent the night studying he did not finish the homework for his afternoon classes. Thank god for self-pick schedules in college.
“We were talking about this new kid in Beomgyu’s class” Kai filled Soobin in. Apparently he was some tall lanky kid with pinkish hair. Taehyun had met him and said he was rude whereas Beomgyu said he wasn’t rude just blunt like him so he needed him to join their friend group. “Beomgyu invited him to come hang out with us”
“I don’t get why it is such a big deal to invite him to hang out with us, he is in my group anyways so it’s school related. I’m telling you, he isn’t as rude as you're thinking, maybe he is just scared. It is his first day. I’m sure we can all benefit from gaining one friend. Look there he is!” Beomgyu got up waving his arms so the newer student could see him.
Soobin turned around, furrowing his brows as he looked at the kid walking their way. Why did this new student look so familiar? His hair was definitely more orange to peach in terms of colour and stood out, maybe Soobin had seen him around campus. There weren’t many people with that hair colour after all. He was also dressed in baggy black pants and a cut off tank top.
“Guys this is Yeonjun! Yeonjun this is everyone else” Beomgyu smiled sitting down. Soobin had never seen Taehyun so annoyed before as he stared. Usually Taehyun was the first to welcome someone new and make them feel included. Yeonjun must have really pissed off Tae for him to act like this.
“Uh I’m Soobin” Soobin smiled, “The one by Beomgyu is Taehyun” he pointed to the man who just stared at Yeonjun.
“And I'm Hueningkai” the other one smiled, looking at Yeonjun.
“I’m Yeonjun. It's nice to meet you all. Beomgyu told me a bit about you all while we were in class.” Yeonjun smiled, staring at everyone before pulling all his stuff out of his bag.
Beomgyu and Yeonjun got to work right away on whatever project they had. While they did that Kai and Soobin went back and forth from doing Soobin’s homework to playing a game on Kai’s laptop. Taehyun had moved to sit closer to his friends staring at Yeonjun from time to time. Occasionally Soobin would look up and see Yeonjun staring at him which freaked him out for some reason. Yeonjun made Soobin feel uneasy but he couldn’t pinpoint why. Before they all knew it Yeonjun was off leaving for his next class along with Kai.
“I don’t think he’s that bad” Soobin said as he packed up his stuff
‘Yeah you would say that’ taehyun muttered leaving
“Dude did I miss something? You don’t get it either right?” Soobin asked Beomgyu as they left for their class.
“I don’t know but it feels fishy. He is brand new and Taehyun is acting like he took his first born or something. Maybe it's a middle school or high school thing.” Bemogyu hummed as he thought
“Unlikely Taehyun has always been class president and such. He has never had a problem in school from what he’s told us” Soobin thought as he sat in his seat.
“I will get to the bottom of this, Oh look Yeonjun has this class too!” Beomgyu smiles, waving over Yeonjun who had just walked into class. “I guess we will see for ourselves” Beomgyu nodded to Soobin who could only stare as the other man walked over and took a seat next to him.
“Hi again” Yeonjun smiled at Soobin.
Soobin felt that uneasy feeling in his chest. He would get down to the bottom of how he knew Yeonjun because this felt like more than just a stranger you’ve seen once or twice, especially if his first day was today.
