Work Text:
As D'Argencourt ends the session, the gym is filled with the sounds of people starting to put their sabers away and removing their fencing masks. Kagami begins to walk away, but just as she begins to leave, Adrien stops her by grabbing her wrist as he asks, "Hey Kagami, I was wondering if you might happen to be free after this?"
Kagami looks at him inquisitively, as she says, "I'm sorry Adrien, but I promised Marinette that she and I could hang out today."
Adrien sighs as he looks downwards, saying, "Oh, that's alright." as he begins to turn away. However, Kagami grabs his arm, stopping him in place, and says "But Marinette and I didn't make any specific plans for today, so if it doesn't ruin whatever you were going to ask me, and if Marinette is alright with it, all three of us could do something."
Adrien smiles at the idea of getting to spend time with both Kagami and Marinette, "That would be amazing, Kagami. Thank you."
Kagami takes out her phone to call Marinette, "Would be it alright for Adrien to join us today?"
Marinette looks hesitant for a moment before putting on a slightly fake grin, "Sure! Of course! It would be wonderful for me, and you and Adrien, to spend time together."
Kagami notices Marinette's hesitation and thinks for a moment that maybe Marinette would rather just spend time alone with Adrien, rather than her being there as well. She whispers on the phone, so as to not catch Adrien's attention, "If you would prefer, I could say that something has come up for me and allow you to be alone with Adrien."
Marinette vehemently denies, "Of course, I want you to be here! The whole reason for today was planning for me and you to hang out. We're gonna have a wonderful time today and we won't let any boys get between us."
Kagami smiles, ending the phone call with Marinette, and turning back to Adrien. "Marinette agreed that all three of us could spend the day together, Adrien."
Adrien smiles, "That's awesome Kagami. I'm really glad I get to hang out with you guys, it's always awesome being with you guys."
"So, what were you going to ask me about a little while earlier. Adrien pauses for a moment before saying, "Oh, well today, the movie theater is screening the movie that my mother starred in, and I really want to go watch it in the theatre, but I would prefer to not be alone while doing so, so if it's all right with the two of you, I'd like for us to go to the movies."
Kagami blushes slightly at the idea of sitting in a dark movie theater with Adrien, but feels slightly hesitant at the idea that the romantic nature of watching movies together will be awkward with both Kagami and Marinette there, before she recalls that Marinette said that today was going to be about the two of them having fun together not letting any boys get in their way, and smiles at the thought of how caring Marinette is to her.
Marinette paces around her room beginning to catastrophize to herself. "Oh no, what if when we're all together Adrien starts getting romantic with Kagami and I'm just awkwardly in the way of the two of them!"
Tikki chimes in with, "But Marinette, you told her that today was about you and her."
Marinette smiles "That's right Tikki! Today is about making sure that Kagami is happy and has fun so I can't let myself get wrapped up in my own thoughts and worries."
Tikki interrupts, "That wasn't quite what I meant Marinette," but she goes unheard as Marinette begins planning her outfit and thinking about how the rest of the day is going to go. Tikki sighs as she shakes her head, sigh, these three really are very oblivious to their feelings.
As Kagami and Adrien leave the gym, Kagami asks, "Adrien, what time is the showing at? Also, beyond the three of us going to the movies, would you like to accompany us for the rest of the day as well? I'm planning on heading over to Marinette's right now, now that fencing is over."
Adrien pauses for a moment, "Well, I wouldn't want to intrude, you and Marinette were probably planning on having some sort of girls day together, and I'm really happy that you guys want to go watch the movie with me, but I would hate to impose on the rest of your guys' day."
Kagami thinks about how much Marinette enjoys being around Adrien for a moment before insisting, "No no, you would not be imposing at all. In fact, I believe that if anything, I would be the one imposing since you two very rarely ever get any alone time together. If you would want, I could leave the two of you alone until it's time for the movie."
Adrien looks at Kagami confusedly, "Why would we not want you there, especially because today was originally you and Marinette hanging out? There's no way that I would want to ruin your guys' plans for the day, it's already enough that you guys are willing to go to the movies with me, plus you're also just as busy as me, and I'm sure that it took a lot of planning for the two of you to be able to set aside this day."
Kagami smiles at Adrienne 's consideration. She grabs his arm and starts dragging him, "Well, let us not waste any time then, Marinette awaits!"
Marinette pauses as she hears her mother yell up, "Marinette, they're here!"
Marinette shouts back, "They're?"
Sabine replies, "Why, Kagami and Adrien of course."
Marinette freezes for a moment at the realization that Adrien is going be coming up into her room. Marinette begins to fly around the room, taking down all the posters of his face that she has around her room, just barely getting everything out of sight as the trap door into her room opens, with Kagami ascending and Adrien following behind her.
"Hi Kagami! —and Adrien too! What a surprise!"
"There's a surprise?" asks Adrien.
"Well, I knew that Kagami was coming, but I didn't know that you were bringing Adrien along."
Kagami looks abashed, "My apologies, Marinette. I had thought that our previous conversation had implied that."
Marinette hurries to assure her. "No no no don't apologize; I can see what you mean. Anyway, I'm so glad that both of you are here it's been a while since I've been able to hang out with either of you, let alone both of you! I'm really happy to be able to spend the day with both of you," she earnestly says, putting a hand onto each of their shoulders.
Kagami and Adrien both blush slightly at the earnestness Marinette displays, happy to be the target of her affections.
Marinette turns around and walks deeper into her room, motioning for the two to follow her. She sits down and gestures for the other two to take a seat as well. "So, it's been forever since the three of us have been able to catch up, what have you guys been up to?"
Adrien begins, "Same old same old, you know how it is, photo shoots, modeling, being busy with everything that my father has me doing."
Marinette nods, "I do know how it is," thinking of his schedule that she has memorized.
Adrien looks at her a little bit quizzically and Kagami face palms at her blunder.
Marinette blushes and hurries the conversation along by turning to Kagami.
Kagami continues, "Similarly busy for me, what with all the training that my mother has me doing as well as my extracurriculars in school."
Adrien nods understandingly
Marinette looks between the two of them and wonders, "Beyond the fact that you guys have your normal schedules happening, has anything interesting or fun been happening lately for you?"
Kagami and Adrien both take a moment to think about it.
"Not that I can think of honestly…" mutters Adrien.
"Well, today I get to spend the day with you," smiles Kagami, as she looks at Marinette with adoring eyes.
Marinette flushes slightly as Adrien agrees with her and has both of their attention directly focused on her.
"Well, that's sweet of you to say, and I'm happy to be able to spend time with you guys as well. We really should make plans more often!"
"Absolutely!" "I will endeavor to prioritize you both more."
"Well," Marinette says, pointing her thumb at herself as she stands, "as your guys' best friend, it's my duty to ensure that today you have the most fun possible!"
Adrien and Kagami share a look as they smile at Marinette's enthusiasm. Marinette turns to the two of them as she prompts, "So is there anything specific that you guys want to do first?"
Kagami and Adrien both take a moment to think but neither come up with anything in particular.
"I'm happy just to be able to spend the day with the two of you," smiles Adrien.
Kagami and Marinette both blush at that, before Kagami continues with, "I see how you are Agreste, first you flirt with two girls, and then you take them both to the movies, keeping both of their hopes up." She jokes, however, underneath her joke there lies a bit of sincerity, as her insecurities slip out.
Marinette flushes as she retorts, "He is not flirting— Sorry, what was that about the movies?"
Adrien looks over to Kagami as she flinches "Ah, I see that I forgot to mention that."
"So, what did you mean by 'the movies'?"
Adrien takes over, saying, "I'm the one who brought it up earlier when Kagami called you after fencing practice. It was because I had invited her to the movies."
Marinette flinches as she feels her heart crack slightly. Kagami quickly takes over, "What he meant to say, is that he earlier, he invited us both to go to the movies with him today. They're screening Solitude."
Marinette nods in understanding, "Of course Adrien I'd love to mo to the govies— I mean go to the movies with you, with both of you!" she insists, seeing that Kagami was withdrawing into her shell slightly. Marinette then moves the conversation forward by asking, "So, when do we have to be ready by?"
Kagami and Adrien check the time and realize that the movie begins in just over an hour. Marinette nods her head, "Alright, well let's get ready! We want to make sure that we look our best, and also that we don't attract too much attention." Adrien nods in understanding.
Marinette walks up to the ticket counter holding Kagami and Adrien's hands and gestures, "We would like three tickets for Solitude please."
As Adrien goes to grab movie food and snacks Kagami stands with Marinette and admires his outfit.
"You did a really good job dressing him."
"Well, I wanted to make sure that he can look his best and also not have to worry about being harassed by random fans."
Kagami shoots Marinette a sly glance, causing Marinette to blush.
"Well, you would know best about how sufficiently camouflage him then, wouldn't you."
Adrien walks back to them holding a popcorn bucket as he says, "Shall we?"
Marinette and Kagami smile, "We shall!" "We shall."
The trio head into the theater. Marinette makes to sit off to the side so Adrien and Kagami can sit next to each other. However, once she sits down Kagami and Adrien both sit on either side of her. Marinette shoots Kagami worried glance that Kagami responds to with a nod of encouragement. Marinette smiles gratefully. The movie begins rolling and the theatre quiets down.
As the movie plays the trio enjoy it in comfortable silence, happy they can share this experience together, and especially with Adrien.
Eventually, at some point during the movie Marinette notices that Kagami has ended up resting her head against Marinette's shoulder. Marinette smiles adoringly at Kagami being so relaxed. Marinette and Adrien also end up holding hands as they watch Emilie shine emotionally on the screen.
Soon enough, the movie comes to an end. As people trail out of the theater, the three continue to sit there for a moment longer enjoying their peaceful moment of affection they have together. Eventually, they have to get up and leave.
"Thank you both again for coming with me today," thanks Adrien as they exit the room.
"Of course, Adrien. We'll always be here for you," assures Marinette. Kagami nods in agreement.
As the three of them exit the theater Marinette asks
"Do either of you have anything that you want to do now?" asks Marinette as they exit the theatre building.
Getting a shake of the head from both of them, Marinette smiles and says, "André was spotted nearby, and since we still have time left, I was thinking that we could get some ice cream together!" Kagami and Adrien smile in agreement.
As they walk to André's cart, Adrien says, "Thank you both again, for sharing that with me, I know that she would have loved you both too."
Marinette tears up and Kagami nods solemnly as Marinette brings the three of them into a big hug.
Finally, they see André's ice cream cart in the distance, and they excitedly make their way towards it.
André smiles as they approach before beginning to suggest flavors, "Which flavors for these two?" he says, gesturing at Kagami and Adrien, "Orange and peppermint, a perfect pairing that's always a success; nothing can turn it into a mess. And for you two," he pauses to look between Adrien and Marinette, "blackberry and peppermint, an explosive mix that's a fact but often times it's the opposites that attract." He pauses, finally looking at Kagami and Marinette, "Orange and blackberry, quite unusual it's true not the most obvious but it works for you two. So, what will it be?"
"You pick. I don't really get what he's saying anyway." Acquiesces Kagami.
"Yeah, you pick, Marinette. We trust you."
"Can't you find a blend for the three of us?" worries Marinette.
"I can, but too many flavors mixed together may throw off the delicate balance." warns André.
Marinette looks indecisively between Kagami and Adrien and André.
Alright, come on Marinette, you're a baker's daughter, you just need to logic your way into faking you know emotions deeply.
"Alright André, I know what we should get."
"Oh? The little miss has a glint in her eyes that tells me we should all await a surprise!"
Marinette takes a deep breath before beginning, "We should go with a blend of all three, have the bottom scoop be peppermint, the middle scoop be blackberry, and finally, the top scoop be orange."
"Ooo, a strong combination for a group who work to keep each other in the loop." considers André. "And why do you suggest such a mix little miss? Can you defend you decision in the end?"
"Well, just like you said André, Orange and peppermint, a perfect pairing that's always a success; nothing can turn it into a mess, blackberry and peppermint, an explosive mix that's a fact but often times it's the opposites that attract, orange and blackberry, quite unusual it's true not the most obvious but it works for us two. So, when we consider orange and peppermint: This combo is like a refreshing breeze on a hot summer day. The citrusy zing of orange wonderfully complements the cool, minty freshness of peppermint. It's a playful and invigorating mix. You could think of it as a frosty winter meeting a sunny citrus grove. Peppermint and blackberry: With this combination, we have the cool, sharp notes of peppermint blending with the sweet, earthy taste of blackberries. It's a blend of summer and winter – like walking through a berry bush with a cool minty breeze. This pairing is both sophisticated and refreshing. And with blackberry and orange: This is like a fruit basket of flavors. Theres the tangy, robust taste of blackberries which perfectly complements the sweet, zesty flavor of orange. It's a classic combination that's both fruity and vibrant, like a sunny day in a lush berry field. And so, when you stack them in the order I told you, you get a vibrant start with the orange, a smooth transition with the blackberry, and a refreshing, minty finish." rambles Marinette.
"A most thought through solution! I wish you all a peaceful resolution." Cheers André
Marinette takes a deep breath and lets out a sigh as André begins to make their ice cream cones finally.
"Wow Marinette, that was amazing," breathes Adrien.
"Truly, Marinette, you are an incredible problem solver," praises Kagami.
Marinette blushes under their compliments. "Well, I am the daughter of a pair of amazing bakers, so I would hope I would be able to manage some flavor mixing," giggles Marinette.
The three of them continue to walk around as they eat their ice cream, bumping shoulders and laughing together as they enjoy the moment, both the company and the ice cream. Once they finish their ice cream and they wonder what they should do now.
"I should probably be heading home soon now, since it's getting late and Father will probably be expecting me to be back sometime soon," sighs Adrien.
Marinette and Kagami are both unenthusiastic at the prospect but nod understandingly. As Adrien turns to walk away, however, Kagami turns to Marinette and whispers in her ear. Marinette blushes and giggles but nods. They both walk forward to grab him and turn him around and then they both kiss him on both of his cheeks at the same time.
Adrien's face turns completely red as he stands there and stutters for a moment.
Both girls blush slightly as they giggle at his expression.
"I had a really great time today with you guys, we should all do something like this again soon," smiles Adrien.
"All three of us?" Marinette shyly asks, as she looks from Adrien to Kagami.
Adrien pauses for a moment as he asks, "If that's alright with you both…"
Kagami steps forward and grabs both of their hands as she nods decisively and says, "With all three of us."
The three of them take a moment to stand there, holding each other's hands, basking in their moment of happiness.
Regrettably, Adrien's phone buzzes, shattering the idyllic scene, and he lets go of both of them as he sighs, "I really do have to go now I guess, see you guys again soon hopefully!" he smiles, waving as he walks away.
Marinette and Kagami both nod in agreement. As Adrien leaves, Kagami decides to tease him, while waving goodbye, she holds up her and Marinette's interlocked hands and calls out, "Looks like I get to have Marinette all to myself now!"
Marinette squeaks and blushes, covering her face with her other hand.
"Hey! That's not fair. You can't hoard her all to yourself," calls out Adrien, smiling.
Marinette whines quietly, "Stop teasing me you guys!"
However, Adrien and Kagami both just laugh, "We can't help it if your just so easy to tease." "Especially since you are so adorable when your embarrassed, Marinette."
Marinette blushes again before tightening her grip on Kagami's hand and dragging her away with her.
Adrien waves one last final time goodbye to them, shouting back, "Don't have too much fun without me! Don't do anything I wouldn't do!"
Kagami smiles mischievously as she calls back, "Do not worry Adrien! We will only be doing things that you wish you could be doing as well!"
Marinette squeaks again, face burning, and starts walking away, pulling Kagami faster.
Adrien sighs as he watches the two of them walk away, I really am so lucky to have such amazing girls be such good friends of mine.
Later in the night. the two girls sit in Marinette's room.
"It's not fair that the both of you teamed up against me," giggles Marinette.
"You were just so easy to tease that it made you even more irresistible," grins Kagami.
Marinette quiets down, asking Kagami, "Was everything that happened today really alright?"
"What do you mean, Marinette?"
"I'm just wondering about, I mean, we both know that we both like Adrien, and we both had a lot of fun today and it seemed like he did too, but I worry that something might change or ruin everything," worries Marinette.
"I wasn't really able to tell if he was just having fun or if he was interested in either one of us, and both of you insisted that the three of us should do it again, and I'm just wondering if it's really alright for us to sort of be sharing like this. I don't want you to sacrifice your feelings or anything. I don't want anybody to get hurt."
Kagami gets more solemn, "I believe that there was nothing wrong about anything that happened today, Marinette. We all had fun, there was no harm done, and we were all happy. No one was doing anything they didn't want to do."
"But is it really alright for us to be like, sharing Adrien, almost, like this."
"Marinette, you know that if I wasn't okay with something I would let you or both of you know. You know that I don't hesitate, especially over important matters. So do not worry about things that do not need to be worried about." She pinkens, "And besides, it is not just Adrien, I find myself wanting as well," she admits softly, gently caressing Marinette's hand.
Marinette squeaks again and asks, "So when you were— when you and Adrien, so when you when you and Adrien were teasing me, you were serious?" she rambles, as her mind overloads.
"Yes," Kagami laughs gently.
"When I said the three of us, I meant it. I told you that I don't hesitate, and this is me not hesitating. We are both aware of each other's affections for Adrien, and I felt that you deserve to know that I find my affections for you to also be increasingly growing. Beyond what is strictly considered friendship." Confesses Kagami.
Marinette's blush deepens and she sits there holding Kagami's hand. She sits there thinking over everything. Kagami begins to feel slightly nervous, but the comforting grasp of Marinette's hand keeps her grounded.
"I feel it too, I've thought for a while that you were admirable, and pretty, and cute, and cool, and I'm really glad we were able to become good friends in spite of us liking the same boy." Admits Marinette
"So where do we go from here?" asks Marinette.
"Exactly what we said we would do earlier. The three of us will hang out again sometime soon and maybe we could even call it a date," Kagami replies.
Marinette smiles back and says softly, "Awesome, it's a date then." She giggles.
Kagami smiles back adoringly, and takes her hand out from Marinette’s, to bring her into a soft embrace.
Meanwhile, elsewhere; "Plagg, do you think Kagami was serious?"
"I don’t know, kit, she's a very straightforward girl."
"But they aren't really doing 'things that I wish I could be doing', right?"
"Who knows, guess you'll just have to wait and find out later, hehehehe, but you should know that Pigtails is more daring than you give her credit for." Plagg says mischievously as he flies away,
"What is that supposed to mean? …Plagg? PLAGG??"
