Yep, I used the good!Bi-Han model to make an older Grandmaster, the dad of Lin Kuei brothers.

This is a gif that started the whole series :P

Yes, I made Bi-Han the medic, partially because his ice-powers are useful with first aid and partially because I find this possibility hillarious. I mean, a medic that is so done with everyone and will put you in ice if you won't listen? Yep. You don't mess with medics! Also for sure not paid enough to deal with idiots in love :D

Again, on tumblr this part is posted as two gifs. In old/Mythologies timeline, Bi-Han and Kuai Liang had youngest sister. Here is just add Frost as such.
Kuai Liang and Smoke knew from experience that if Bi-Han use his ice powers, the temperature will drastically drop and they wanted to avoid it. Johnny thought by "bad idea" they meant Bi-Han won't agree and/or will be angry, so he went to Lin Kuei Grandmaster (aka dad of Lin Kuei bros) to ask for help. Grandmaster agreed because it looked like his middle sons are slacking in their training, so he told Bi-Han to have fun :P

We all know Shang Tsung would take tropic island over any old, cold fortress in the middle of nowhere.

Sareena is so used to team up with Bi-Han, she sometimes forgets they aren't on the same side in Johnny's film XD

A protective uncle Liu Kang who knows well Bi-Han (aro ace) is concerned about the news of Sub-Zero dating Shang Tsung. He of course assume it is some sorcerer's trick while Titan Shang Tsung of course won't accept losing to his younger self. Grandmaster knows very well this whole dating is a fake but as a king of trolls, he "forgot" to mention that part to Liu Kang... Poor Shang Tsung, for once is not guilty of anything yet still is roasted by Fire Lord and his own Titan self XD

Is mom angry about the fake date drama or her sons hiding from her or is it just Bi-Han's older brother instinct to mess with his siblings? A good question indeed.

Bi-Han is angry at Kuai Liang not for the burned film set but for losing a chance to eliminate "problem" once and for good. Tomas didn't want say who were the bullies because he knows the moment he points at someone, the body of said person won't be found... and he is not wrong, Lin Kuei are trained since childhood to do their job well XD

Yeah, I too wish to know what is up with Liu Kang and never addressing or interacting with Tomas in similar way he treats Bi-Han and Kuai Liang. Anyway, here, some good brothers & supportive Lin Kuei stuff before the expansion story will put fandom on fire again XD

Sindel wanted Shao to be part of Johnny’s movie so he could learn and appreciate Earthrealm’s culture. He did, and now she regrets her choice XD

The first time Johnny (jokingly) told Bi-Han to use the best Lin Kuei’s knots, so Bi-Han did that. It’s not his fault Johnny or anyone else on the set could not untied poor Kenshi without his help. Sub-Zero’s patience is tested once again🤣.

I only wanted to make (another) joke about fire alarms but somehow it went much more serious than I planned. Tomas doesn’t want bother his older brother because Sub-Zero, as the eldest and heir, is already way too busy with his Lin Kuei duties and helping on the film set. He is not afraid of Bi-Han or his reaction to Madam Bo’s opinion on the matter, but I like to think there is some self-doubt on his part, that he is burden to the much more battle-experienced brothers. So he would rather not admit he still has not full control over smoke powers. You can see that as tie-in to “Favorite brother” when Madam Bo is already complaing that someone set fire alarm again and prequel to “Smoke’s Fall” in which Tomas’ life was put in danger due to not mastering fully his powers.

Dark Sub-Zero has a lot to say about Liu Kang’s timeline in regard to his brothers and clan. As I have this theory of mine why Liu Kang made Kuai Liang a pyromancer, I like to think this would be Dark Bi-Han’s conclusion too - cryomancers don’t listen to gods XD

Shang Tsung may not be able to sweet-talk Bi-Han into cooperation but he for sure will bother Bi-Han for as long as needed to take that damn photo. To Kuai Liang's horror Shang Tsung and Bi-Han are in fact friends.

Johnny’s movie has some production problems - after a trip to Outworld, he is not fazed anymore by danger. A haunted mansion? Piece of cake! But the filming crew for sure takes an issue with it. Especially with all the weird characters and creatures from various timelines that just show up without any warning. And so a new subplot arise :)

Tomas was telling Cyrax about his experiences on movie set and how good everything look there, including the soulstealer from "Brothers between filming - Scenography(3)". Sektor, like always, is hard to impress 🤣

takes place while filming the prologue, when Damashi approaches Shang Tsung. It was either film the scene during bad weather or ask Rain to provide the rain. Shang Tsung opted for bad weather to not give Rain a chance (and satisfaction) to “accidentally” drown him 🤣 Also, if my editing skills are not enough to tell, this colorful thing is an umbrella.

Do you sometimes wonder what kind of movie director Johnny is? I like to think he is pretty okay, as he knows very well how hard the actor’s job is, but also he may get carried out with his demands. You know, as there is a great pressure on him, since this is his first time behind camera and there are plenty of problems to solve due to the nature of this project. So, Bi-Han & Lin Kuei are here to remind him to chill down and stop pushing everyone to their limits. I already established Bi-Han as the medic on the set, so maybe he and Kuai Liang refuse to make another take of the climbing scene & fighting Nitara because Tomas’ life was already put in danger? Or maybe he is angry about pushing Tanya to film her scene with Mileena (even if she is there for that 100%), because she hurt her rib(s), as was seen in “Medic”? Or maybe Bi-Han is simply done with Johnny’s (over)enthusiasm? Who knows with Sub-Zero XD

Plus bonus, as Jax told so Johnny this was a bad idea to push Bi-Han (the medic) but of course Cage did not listen to reason XD

Yes, all animals somehow always find their way to Bi-Han and yes, he must pet every cat he sees, even if they are in the middle of filming… though if he does that because he likes cats so much or to piss of Johnny is up to debate XDDD As a bonus, I added the two scenes as separate pieces, with no text for the petting scene.

Madam Bo is helping Johnny with direction for actors and filming the scene. But you know… she is a Lin Kuei, and it is Johnny’s fault for not taking that part into account when he asked for her help. Bi-Han on another hand knows better than to disobey his grandma XDDD Also, Sub-Zero is not on purpose dangerous here, he is just not used to fake fighting.

Well, Tomas is a fan of Johnny Cage’s movies and so he accidently dragged his brothers into Hollywood’s nonsense. Harumi (and kid Hanzo) joined the mess!

Shang Tsung and Kuai Liang finally found a common ground with their dislike for Liu Kang’s original timeline he came from. Shang Tsung hates his Titan self, Kuai Liang despite the cryomancer version of him (he may be a bit insecured seeing how cryomancer Kuai Liang immediately took a liking to Bi-Han). No personal prejudice here though, nope, not at all XD

Johnny had problems with production of the movie, which is why Liu Kang’s Champions get involved with filming. Kung Lao and Raiden needed a bit reassurance as none of them have any experience with acting and filming fighting scenes. Bi-Han is (not) helping much XD

And yep, in the previous part Madam Bo is the one screaming at Bi-Han to show no mercy to Raiden while filming their scene in her inn. Her idea of safe may be a bit different than Kung Lao and Raiden's XD

If there was one person to call Sektor and Cyrax the “Ketchup and Mustard”, of course it would be Johnny! And of course I needed to bring the joke to my AU XD I’m a bit here inspired by MK9/previous timeline(s) in regard to Cyrax not being a fan of Johnny Cage (or his movies). She may or may not smack Cage for his stupid remark… Bi-Han for sure is not paid enough for dealing with this nonsense XD

When I started this half-serious, half-crackish AU series, I had no idea where NRS was planning to take this new timeline. With female Cyrax and female Sektor I faced a dilemma, should I ignore those two characters in favor of their male counterparts or include them and ignore the original versions. So I decided to cheat XD Instead of picking one version over the other, I will include female Sektor & Cyrax while mentioning their male versions as their respective brothers. If Lin Kuei could pass the Sub-Zero title between a few generations of the same family, I’m sure “Cyrax” and “Sektor” names may work the same.

My choice comes down to two reasons. One, I’m too used to male Sektor and Cyrax to erase them but at the same time I don’t wanna cross out female versions without giving those characters a fair chance. Two, as I have concerns and fears in regard to gender bending Cyrax and Sektor, lately it feels to me that NRS badly wants to establish Scorpion Kuai Liang as heterosexual man. Now, Hanzo loving deeply his wife was always part of his character however as A) I see cryomancers as naturally aro ace people and B) NRS took away from me cryomancer Kuai Liang, I decided to be petty as possible and do everything in my power to not make current Kuai Liang a straight man XDDD Which is why I’m throwing male Cyrax into the mix and switching any potential past(?) romantic tension between Scorpion and female Cyrax into a very disappointed and protective sister upset his friend picked some Japanese girl over her brother. Not sorry about that at all 🤣

Of course, is Kuai Liang bisexual or demisexual is up to debate, the same as his potentially romantic relationship with "male Cyrax". I mean, they were close but the sister could get the wrong impression about Scorpion and her brother...

Johnny’s problems with movie production started with "Haunted Mansion". Now, Liu Kang is gathering his Champions once again, this time to help Cage in his fight to make the "Mortal Kombat" film and sneak some awarness about Outworld into pop culture. Raiden of course is not sure about his "mission" and needs Madam Bo's support, while Kung Lao is more than ready to leave their village at once.

I'm fixing a plothole - since Bi-Han did not betray Liu Kang in my AU and he simply plays such role in Johnny's movie, then putting Lin Kuei into bad light would not benefit his clan or Fire Lord's plans to spread awarnesse about Outworld and Mortal Kombat Tournament. Liu Kang picked this name for Johnny’s movies specifically; the assassin, ruthless clan from previous timelines was always feared so no worry about tarnishing its good reputation, while Bi-Han, Tomas and Kuai Liang’s family name is kept a secret, as was intended. Which is why everyone refer to them using the fake term "Lin Kuei" (and so do I, in my BTS AU). Johnny, Kung Lao, Raiden and Kenshi had no idea what is their clan’s real name, nor specific data was given to them for safety’s sake. Liu Kang’s Champions aren’t even sure if the “Bi-Han”, “Tomas” and “Kuai Liang” are their real names and not something made up for the time of filming.

Also, Liu Kang and Madam Bo are the "good cop and bad cop" type of duo. He is asking nicely to drop the subject, while she is the reason why they did stop asking XD

Destressing myself before new MK but also after watching Sektor Gameplay Trailer. For AU, I guess Bi-Han may refer to the drama involving his brother & Cyrax and the whole romantic stuff going on the film set... Sektor is not impressed either 🤣

I made Madam Bo the grandmother of Lin Kuei brothers, so I guess she may be a cryoamcer too. Inspired by Raiden's line how she is feels cold, when she was pretending to be dead during test. Also, it seems I either present her as very supportive or absolute troll when it comes to Kung Lao and Raiden. I guess, this is cryomancer gene of her XD

in this AU, Lin Kuei are helping Cage to make the movie about Mortal Kombat Tournament & Earthrealm's struggles to keep peace with other realms. However Sub-Zero and his family are still first and foremost Earthrealm's Protector and its first line of defense. Duty always calls unexpectedly, and so sometimes Sub-Zero is unavailable for filming the scenes while Sektor is usually taking his place then.

In the previous part, Sektor explained that Bi-Han was called to do his duty thus won’t be available for filming. Kuai Liang did not know about this, and once he learned Sub-Zero went on mission without him, he tried to catch up with his older brother… to no avail. The next part will explain the reason behind Kuai Liang’s distress.

though Bi-Han is the heir to the Lin Kuei Grandmaster title, he takes an active part in defending the Earthrealm and is sent on mission whenever the situation demands the best. Which is why Kuai Liang is so stressed, because in such case he should be there to protect his brother but he was left behind on film set, so he could have fun/normalcy/time with Harumi he wanted. Thus he is consumed by guilt, because in Lin Kuei life, one never be sure if your family and friends will come back alive from mission. Thankfully, Tomas is there to calm him down, a bit at least.

I have this idea Bi-Han got injured while keeping his comrades safe because the attack on the realm was much worse than the latest ones. Which is why Liu Kang is talking with recovering Sub-Zero, to learn about the enemy as much as possible. Kuai Liang's presence would not make anything better during the mission and maybe it was a good thing his brothers were not there, so Bi-Han could focus on the job and not worry for Tomas & Kuai Liang's safety.

The comrades in question? Sektor's brother & Hydro of course!

Also, yes, Kuai Liang's nightmare is some sort of past-life vague memory about Bi-Han's death and his resurrection as Noob Saibot. If NRS won't give me some emotional Lin Kuei brotherhood, I WILL DO IT MYSELF.

Did you notice what a mistake Liu Kang did here? If not, the next part will explain :)

See? Liu Kang picked the worst reason for Bi-Han not coming back yet to film set, as his brothers know well he would not use the "I'm tired after mission" argument ever XD Also a reference to Kuai Liang's nightmare from part #5. Whatever the injury of Sub-Zero is, Bi-Han came back to home, so everything will be okay somehow.

I'm almost done with this subplot (for now at least), the next part will be a little bonus and then focus will switch on other matters, including ongoing Kuai Liang's dating issues and gathering champions for Johnny's film crew!

I would not be myself if I didn't add Shang Tsung and his weird friendship with Bi-Han to the mix. I think this subplot could happen before the fake dating storyline, as Kuai Liang here (still?) thinks Shang Tsung is not capable of caring for anyone beside himself.

I said there will be a new subplot and here we are. This time focus will be on Liu Kang and his decision to involve himself, "Lin Kuei" and his Champions with Johnny's movie. And of course, his concerns about Shang Tsung.

Johnny is facing problems with production of the movie, so Liu Kang decided to help. He is not sure though what to do with Shang Tsung - adding him to Johnny’s film crew will allow him to keep an eye on the sorcerer but at the same time, it won’t be an easy - or nice - task at all. Titan Raiden with their fellow Titan friends is here to help by pointing out to whom Liu Kang should turn for advice: their original timeline’s Bi-Han.

Liu Kang did as Titan Raiden adviced - he contacted with Titan Sub-Zero brothers. Bi-Han currently is busy with their own timeline's problems but Kuai Liang will pass the message soon.

I would not be myself, if I didn’t bring this joke back. Let’s say Bi-Han is not impressed by Liu Kang’s timeline, with special complaint for the way Lin Kuei is treated. But since his brother asked, he will help the other Titan.

I like to think Titan Bi-Hans get along well no matter if they are "good" or "evil". Which is a funny contrast to Shang Tsungs, because you put two Shang Tsungs in one place and there will be murder attempt XD

It looks like Liu Kang took Titan Bi-Han's advice to the heart and decided to enlist Lin Kuei brothers. Or more precisely, enlist Bi-Han but he wouldn't agree so Liu Kang needs a plan how to get Tomas and Kuai Liang first so they could bully their older and stubborn brother to join the film crew/actors. And who is better to help with said plan than their own father?

Liu Kang needs Lin Kuei brothers' help (or more precisely, one brother but more about that soon 🙂). However, enlisting them won’t be so easy. Well, almost, as Tomas is way more eager to join Johnny Cage’s film crew/actors than his brothers. Since one already agreed, now Liu Kang just needs to find a way to enlist Kuai Liang and Bi-Han.

Side notes: the already recruited Champions are Kung Lao and Raiden, as seen in “Gathering the actors”. And the “Brothers between filming - Scenography(3)” mentioned that the Lin Kuei brothers watched Johnny Cage’s movies. It looks like Tomas had (or still has?) a big crush on the actor and poor Bi-Han and Kuai Liang were dragged into watching the movies with him XD

Also, I kinda mixed the actors with film crew as one and the same, sorry for that. I guess we could assume Lin Kuei bros were supposed to help with scenography & effects but ended as actors at some point...?

Grandmaster already asked Tomas to help Fire Lord and he agreed - partially to do his duty and partially because he longs for some normality Lin Kuei can't provide. Now is time to enlist Kuai Liang by mentioning Harumi will visit Liu Kang on movie set... but first he and Tomas must find a way to change Bi-Han's mind. Which won't be an easy task XD

The younger brothers are united in the common goal - joining Cage’s film crew. But their dad made it clear, they won’t be allowed to do so if Bi-Han won’t join with them. So it is a battle of will between desperate Scorpion and Smoke and stubborn Bi-Han XD

Kuai Liang and Tomas failed to change Bi-Han's mind about joining Cage's crew, so Liu Kang has no other choice than to settle the matter with Sub-Zero personally.

Also:

- the reason why Tomas doesn't want Cyrax to know about his crush (on Cage) is simple - Cyrax is gonna tell that to her brother who despite Cage XD

- the reason why so much scenes happens in this room (beside the fact my source material is limited) comes down to this: Lin Kuei brothers are staying at Liu Kang's home, as additional guards as the matters between realms & titans weren't settled yet. Lin Kuei brothers just declared this little room *their* common space and meet there to talk about current problems/events/etc.

Since Kuai Liang and Tomas failed to change Bi-Han’s mind, Liu Kang had no other choice than to explain why he needed Sub-Zero on film set - to keep Shang Tsung(s) distracted from causing any problems. It would be easier if he just did that from the start, but Liu Kang hoped to not burden Sub-Zero with knowledge of how in the past timelines, his incarnation was always one way or another connected to Shang Tsung. Presenting “babysitting” the sorcerer as a mission is what finally made Sub-Zero agree to join Cage’s film crew (to Kuai Liang and Tomas’ joy).

This mission to keep Shang Tsung distracted is part of the reason for the whole Fake Dating storyline, with special focus on “Multitasking” that explains why Bi-Han picked Shang Tsung from all possible cast to fake date for one day.

And so, the Lin Kuei brothers joined Cage’s film crew :) Now only Johnny has to hear about the news…

This is my 100th posted part of Behind the Scenes AU! Thank you all for support :) Bi-Han is angry do nothing new here, but does he complain about my writing skills, Cage's movie and NRS? Who knows...? XD

(After watching cutscenes of MK Khaos Reigns, I like to think it is aimed at NRS XDD)

Liu Kang recruited Lin Kuei brothers to be part of Johnny’s film crew. Now it is time for him to solve problems of Kenshi (conflict with Yakuza) and Johnny (production of movie).

Well, it turned more serious than usual, but it felt right to acknowledge Kenshi's doubts and struggles. If only he knew how untrue is his statement about Liu Kang not understanding...

The previous part was more serious, so of course this one couldn’t be with Johnny and his reaction to Lin Kuei. The current arc takes place before production of Cage’s movie has started (but after his original film crew resigned from the job) so Johnny knows the ninjas just as the “secret weapon” Liu Kang use only in dire situation so of course the presence of Bi-Han and Kuai Liang is something to be wary of if Fire Lord brought them with him

Like I said last time, seeing Bi-Han and Kuai Liang is a reason to be concerned, as Liu Kang brings his ninjas only when dealing with the worst matters.

Liu Kang of course took care of Kenshi’s family and put them in one of places where no Yakuza will be able to hurt them (the other would be “Lin Kuei” Temple but that could be more freaky experience for Suchin and kid Takeda). Also, Fire Lord has a plan how to solve Kenshi’s problem in a way Yakuza will be stopped without turning whole cities into chaos and bloodshed, but will he or Johnny like it? Well, that is to be seen!

Also: Takeda is back to be Kenshi’s son because I said so. Geras is living at Liu Kang’s Temple and not beyond time all alone. The man deserves to have a cozy place and good friends to live with!

Special Forces got a special mention XD I guess the main idea behind Liu Kang’s plan is to bring Yakuza down not by murdering everyone but by destroying them with legal means. Kenshi, as a former Yakuza, has the knowledge and intel that Special Forces will need for their operations. Also, Yakuza is Japan crime organization and remember who was asked to visit “Lin Kuei” on film set? Yep. Harumi’s family. Who as I like to imagine is a powerful Japanese clan / high social circles, so by the pretex of visiting friends working on film set, Liu Kang is putting all the needed pieces together (though let’s be honest, Grandmaster is behind this plan as much as Liu Kang XD)

Johnny has a serious concers about said plan…

One of the things I really like about Johnny is that, he cares way more than he shows. He is kind of a heart of the group, no matter which timeline, so of course he is there too. Not liking the idea of Kenshi being used as a bait for Yakuza - while Kenshi will do everything to destroy the crime organization and restore his clan back. Bi-Han on another hand is already done with Cage and they did not even film any scene together yet XDDD

I have no idea from where Liu Kang will get the money to sponsor the movie, but maybe he had a hidden stash just for this occasion or Special Forces will pay for that🤣 One way or another, Liu Kang’s plan is already put into motion, now he just needs to make everyone to agree to take some calculated risk.

Also, who will be better to play Mileena and Kitana than the princesses themselves?

Sorry for the change of colors in dialogue, but this part I made way before the rest and I did not feel like reediting the whole thing ;/ Liu Kang mentioned in “Seeking advice, p. 1” that Johnny asked him for a help with making the movie (as he was facing serious problems at that time). It seems Fire Lord is finally ready to get involved with that matters.

I think saving the realms will turn out much easier than making together the movie 🤣

Bonus to part 5, as of course Lin Kuei must criticize everything 🤣 As Kuai Liang is the one using rope the most, it feels right to let him complain this time.

There is a reason why Kuai Liang doesn’t like Shang Tsung and won’t believe there is anything good about the bastard. Almost dying on film set kinda has that effect on people 🤣 The only reason Bi-Han did not run to help his brother is the fact that Tomas was already there so he could deal with a very smug (still not really socialized with the crew) Shang Tsung. Was that an accident? Or did the sorcerer tried to grab Sub-Zero’s attention and what could work better than putting his brother’s life in danger? The idiot has no idea how to interact with other people without lies and violence it seems 🤣🤣🤣

I feel like they filmed this specific scene a lot time before they got it right🤣

According to intro dialogues, Bi-Han/Noob is not too familiar with pop culture, so if he - and Kuai Liang - know pokemon, then it is all because of Tomas.

Chronology-wise, this takes place after “Lin Kuei Life - when duty calls” mini arc, in which Bi-Han got injured on a mission and needed to stay away from the film set for a while… Of course he sneaked out from Lin Kuei hospital at the first occasion 🤣 But if medics can’t catch him, well, it is their fault not his! Also, Sub-Zero is a medic on film set which makes it even more funnier to learn he is the worst patient himself. But who can’t blame him? There are too many things going on for him to sit and rest at home.

Also, Cyrax and Sektor can’t be in the same room and not arguing.

Either the movie will be the best cinematic piece of art or a reason for Johnny’s heart attack 🤣 Of course cryomancer members of Lin Kuei help with filming fighting scenes. Who is better for Bi-Han to freeze than them?

Bi-Han, as the eldest sibling, is always very helpful 🤣 On serious note, Cyrax is a protective sister, Sektor a supporting friend and Bi-Han, my absolutely fav aro-ace, done with other people’s problems. Officially, Kuai Liang could not date anyone before his older brother did (which is the reason behind Fake Dating mini arc, as he desperately wanted to ask Harumi at least once on date and Sub-Zero agreed to fake date for a day). So, this is not like he and Cyrax’s brother were officially a couple, nonetheless they for sure had a very close relationship - something Cyrax is perfectly aware of. The next part will explain more about the nature of Kuai Liang’s relationship with Cyrax’s brother.

Oh, and also, Harumi is visiting Kuai Liang on film set more and more often, while Lin Kuei - as promised - provide the safety.

I really like to imagine Bi-Han is the last person who would want to know any details from people’s romantic & sexual life but also like, the one who knows a lot more than he should. I guess the AU’s version of him likes to collect other people’s secrets too 🤣 On serious note, it shows that Kuai Liang can and will come to his older brother when dealing with personal problems (even if Bi-Han doesn’t want get involved). Which is why Sub-Zero is fully aware that Kuai Liang and Cyrax’s brother are close not because they fell in love with each other, but because they are in the same situation - their chance to be with people they actually love are very slim. I guess those two are friends with benefits who bonded over a common struggle, because misery loves company and both are very miserable indeed.

Kuai Liang is in love with Harumi for years, but she is a heiress to the Shirai Clan, so of course her parents won’t see him as a good material for boyfriend/husband. He lives far away from Japan and may be killed at any time due to his Lin Kuei duties. He does not even officially exist in the “normal” modern world. There is little Scorpion can do about it, and he knows way too well that for him - and Harumi - duty to clan/family comes before personal feelings. There is a realistic part of him that has already accepted he may never be with Harumi - but give him a chance and he will go to great lengths to just see her again… like begging Bi-Han to cheat on Lin Kuei clan’s rules by fake dating anyone for a day.

With Cyrax’s brother (male Cyrax) the situation comes down to the fact that he likes Sektor’s brother (male Sektor) but the man is an emotionally withdrawn person and one really really bad at getting the clue and/or not interested in a romantic relationship. They like each other, but it is hard for them to communicate - maybe both want different things or there are other issues that get in the way? Who knows?

Well, Bi-Han may know, as he and Sektor’s brothers are very similar introverts and good pals but he ain’t here to get dragged into another emotional mess. Let him be at peace, please.

One way or another, if “male Cyrax” was there, he would personally ask Harumi to do him a favor and date Kuai Liang even if just for a day XD

Also, what female Cyrax described sounds more like cheating, but A) I did not want turn the “dating problems” into much worse issue than breaking up to not insult Kuai Liang’s character and B) Cyrax assuming Scorpion lost interest in her brother instead of cheating on him kinda shows that despite all the conflict, she still doesn’t consider Kuai the worst scum. Just a selfish bastard whose ass should be kicked.

The Dating Issues mini arc was as much a chance to humanize Kuai Liang (and his struggle between duty and pursuing a happy life with Harumi) as it was a chance for Sektor and Bi-Han making fun of their respective brothers 🤣

I came to the point I needed names for the male Sektor and Cyrax who are part of this AU as brothers of their female counterparts. So I decided to use shortened versions of original names:

Tor for male Sektor
Rax for male Cyrax

Bi-Han and Tomas are supportive older brothers unless they are not 🤣 Chronology-wise, it takes place between part 1 when Cyrax learned about Harumi and part 2, in which Bi-Han has enough of drama and of course is solving Kuai Liang’s problems. Somehow this became repeating theme of their interaction (while Tomas actually does not share willingly his problems with any brother… ).

In Bi-Han’s defense he does talk about his problems with his mom! And Sektor or Hydro… sometimes. It occured to me that Kuai Liang always tell Bi-Han and Tomas about his problems and concerns, while Bi-Han and Tomas just don’t talk much about their problems (though in case of Tomas, he avoids it because his brothers’ the first solution is usually a murder 🤣). So yeah. Sub-Zero is concerned how his younger brother deals with what is happening on film set while Sektor calls Bi-Han out, as he is not better in that matter.

The universal hardship of being the oldest kid and like, Bi-Han’s One Fear aka the Mother’s Wrath 🤣 Something that Kuai Liang and Tomas fear too… maybe even more than Bi-Han because we all know he is mom’s favorite XD

Lin Kuei Grandmaster and Liu Kang’s plan is put into motion. Like the Fire Lord told Johnny and Cage, the production of movie is a nice cover up for Special Forces and their work to take down Yakuza. And Shirai Family is here to help. Liu Kang also promised Lin Kuei will provide safety to everyone involved with Johnny’s movie, so here they are - ready for the special guest’s visit.

Johnny wants to know the backstory of Shirai Family and Lin Kuei so he could add it to his movie series 🤣 Kenshi, as Japanese citizen and part of old clan himself, is of course aware of Shirai Family and they political & high class status. Johnny, Kung Lao, Raiden and Kenshi are here as the welcoming committee :)

Oh, we all know Harumi will enjoy her time here! Meeting Liu Kang’s Champions & Outworld allies and spending time together with Kuai Liang :) Also, her visit (this one or future one) will push Kuai Liang into asking Bi-Han to fake date someone so Scorpion could officially ask Harumi out.

Harumi soon will be coming back to Japan so Kuai Liang asked Bi-Han for help that started the whole Fake Date arc. Due to Harumi’s social status and being the heiress to powerful and old Shirai Family, their date is not typical one, with all the present people - including Tomas - chaperoning the young in love. Though let’s be real here, Tomas is here to annoy his little brother as much as possible because this is what older brothers do 🤣 Bi-Han is not here as he is providing safety on film set (or more precisely speaking, keeping Shang Tsung distracted from causing problems).

Shirai Family’s visit comes to end, so it is time to say goodbye. Hopefully, Harumi will visit Kuai Liang and his friends on film set soon again :)

Look, I won’t lie, I low-key hate Tomas’ MK1 ending for the way he and Kuai Liang see Hanzo, as this gifted student enrolled in Shirai Ryu for their “noble cause” while showing little concerns for the boy itself. I have a lot to say about that and maybe will explain once I will sit down to write my (for now) final part of “Bi-Han & Kuai Liang. Good brother? Evil brother? Nah, just different reactions to trauma” (that I may or may not post it on ao3 at some point) but my negative reaction comes down to this: Tomas who struggled so much to became Lin Kuei (fighter) should not look down on young students for not being “good enough” to be new members of Shirai Ruy. Kuai Liang should not either, but his intro dialogues made me think he would not be the best teacher - which frankly is more about Lin Kuei arrogance than him being a bad person, just to be clear here. So I decided to A) give more focus on Tomas and his relationship with adoptive dad and B) let him be the voice of reason to the “badass” warriors like Scorpion and Harumi. So yeah, the problem is not in student (this poor kid trying hard) but in teachers with too big expectations and too little patience.

Here comes my headcanon/feeling that Bi-Han is naturally left-handed. Poor Kung Lao and Raiden, they look so stressed here during the filming but who can blame them?

Looks like Bi-Han will always recognize Shang Tsung, no matter what form he takes. But also, c'mon, we all know Johnny would use his shapeshifting skills to fill the background with extras. Poor Raiden though, he is trying his best, while Bi-Han and Shang Tsung don’t even care they are on film set. Also, this may be see as missing scene how Sub Zero and sorcerer actually became sort of friends without Kuai Liang’s notice (he was pretty surprised about that in “Since when you two are friends?!”)

I swear, this is one of scenes that took forever to film, mainly because Bi-Han of course needed to pick on Shang Tsung (and then they became friends which freaked out Kuai Liang) and Johnny hates them all for who knows how many failed shots 🤣 I bet there is so little Bi-Han in the movie after the meeting with Shang Tsung, because Johnny was done with them both.

Here and there I said Tomas had a crush on Johnny before he even met Cage in person (resulting in Lin Kuei bros watching all Cage’s movies together at some point). But since Special Forces are involved with production of the movie, Johnny met Sonya and of course they became a couple. Bi-Han is checking on Tomas to make sure there won’t be another dating crisis as it happened with Kuai Liang dating Harumi to Cyrax’s distress. So he is making sure the news won’t catch Smoke by surprise while offering some movie night, as they did in the past. You know, watching movies, eating ice cream, being just brothers not bound by the duty at least for a few hours.

Also, of course Bi-Han knows all the secrets of other people - is it part of his duty or just hobby, who knows? XD

I swear, if Mortal Kombat decided even be realistic and let use their characters a brain for a second or just let them go into attorney argumenting how Titan Havik’s doing is the antithesis of chaos, he would be fucked up within the moment Sub-Zero step into Chaosrealm and talk other Haviks into murdering this hypocrite and traitor. But then there would not be a game 🤣
On serious note, this may be seen as another Lin Kuei mission keeping Bi-Han away from film set. Also my AU’s lore has a different name for Sub-Zero’s clan while “Lin Kuei” is used only for Cage’s movies, I decided that non-Earthrealm characters will call Lin Kuei warriors as Ghosts. I suspect each realm has their own name for Liu Kang’s special Earthrealm Defenders, and Ghosts is a nice reference to Lin Kuei’s name that, according to MK wiki, means Forest Demons. Demons though sounds too evil for good-natured Liu Kang while Ghosts still have the supernatural ring to it.

It looks like Liu Kang may not be the one sending Bi-Han to trash Titan Havik but a favor made to other Havik.🤣 Anyway, I like this Bi-Han/Noob & Havik more than what happened in Kaos Reigns…

Bi-Han is multitasking again 🤣 Lin Kuei are living in isolation but since Tomas was adopted, watching movie together became sort of tradition. Bi-Han and Tomas though decided to include Shang Tsung (so Kuai Liang invited Harumi) while poor Cyrax is trying to figure out what the hell is going on. As Shang Tsung already complained that no one likes him and Bi-Han is enlisted to keep an eye on the sorcerer, this is a win-win solution. Also, Tomas is the empathic, nice guy who knows very well what it’s to be the outsider in a close-knit group, as his adoption into Lin Kuei wasn’t easy.

Sektor is pretty amused by the chaos brought by Tomas and Bi-Han.

Johnny is of course doing a research for his movie(s), you know, to flesh out the “characters” 🤣 On serious note, I decided to extend the AU’s worldbuilding by explaining how Harumi, a heir to the prestigue Japanese clan, met Kuai Liang and his family that, officially, do not exist in “normal” world.

This scene could happen after Harumi and Kuai Liang’s first date mini arc.

Well, that for sure is an epic story with a twist and we all know Johnny is loving every bit of it! 🤣 Harumi’s family was attacked by vampires when she was a kid/young teenager and of course seeing Kuai Liang in fight against those monster was an instant infatuation. But since Lin Kuei live in isolation and, in my opinion, MK1 made both Sub-Zero and Scorpion not really good at social interaction and both have this arrogant attitude (though backed up by their great fighting skills), I like to imagine the good impression was quickly destroyed by some tactless Kuai Liang’s remark. Nothing mean on purpose, but still something that pushed Harumi to hit him in the face. I guess, either she was saved from Bi-Han’s fury because he was busy reseting his younger brother’s nose or he found it funny. Either way, it was a pretty impressive sight which is why Grandmaster and his wife remembers very fondly Harumi and like her enough to allow Kuai Liang date her against Lin Kuei rules.

Picking up a right movie for a bunch of traumatized or messed up people is not an easy task, as Tomas just learned 🤣 This is additional part to “Movie night” and may be seen as post “How you ever know stuff like that” in which Bi-Han was cheering Tomas up after the news of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade dating (as Tomas had a serious crush on the actor). As in, brotherly bonding time inspired Smoke to organize movie night for his Lin Kuei family and guests - Shang Tsung is invited so Bi-Han could take part in their fun AND keep an eye on the sorcerer, while Harumi was invited by Kuai Liang since there will be already an outsider (Tsung). Now, Tomas must figure out which movie will be the best while Sub-Zero tells him what TO NOT pick. Here some notes behind Sub-Zero’s warning:

- As was established in “How Harumi met Kuai Liang, part 2”, in her youth she witnessed a Vaeternian attack on her family and people. She’s not afraid of vampires, but some horror movies may trigger her and Bi-Han and Tomas want to avoid that.
- Bi-Han in general is okay with all horror genres but he is not a fan of vampires. Not because of his experiences with Vaerernians, but because he thinks vampires are way overrated.
- Tomas thinks vampires are cool mainly because his experiences with Vaeternians are very very limited. Nitara met on film set may be in fact the first Vaeternian he actually met in person. He is in general a big fan of horrors despite his own traumatic childhood. In some way, it actually helps him to deal with trauma.
- Shang Tsung is not allowed to watch any zombie/mutants/gore experiments to NOT GIVE him any more dangerous ideas. Liu Kang would otherwise have a very serious and long talk with both brothers.
- (Sektor and Shang Tsung would definitely enjoy the dark and fucked up experiments type of horror).
- Kuai Liang, like his brothers, is pretty okay with watching horrors, but he definitely prefers if the monster is something material and killable. Any horror dealing with paranormal and/or haunted places (especially if something like an evil ghost/dead is creeping in the shadows at the end of the movie) may actually freak him out. As was already mentioned in “Lin Kuei Life - when duty calls” mini arc, Kuai Liang has this nightmare about Bi-Han coming on mission and coming back as someone else (the trauma of past-life Bi-Han’s death and his resurrection as Noob Saibot). Which is why paranormal horrors affect him much more than others. Bi-Han is mindful of this, because Kuai Liang is always clingy after a freak out.

- Sektor and Cyrax are like the most normal of the bunch, so no need to worry about their eventual traumas.

Of course Johnny would do Halloween Party on film set for his friends and co-workers :) Bi-Han decided to go as Noob Saibot and Liu Kang is just disturbed because of memories from past timelines.

It seems Kuai Liang and General Shao get along well when Shang Tsung is around XDD Of course the sorcerer will annoy everyone over the (script) fact that Bi-Han picked him and not Liu Kang. Kuai Liang and Shao are not amused, while Shang Tsung has the greatest fun of his life. Bi-Han is not paid enough for dealing with them all.

Author’s note: Johnny is divorced, so of course he knows the best how much lawyers cost…

Liu Kang promised Johnny to ask Sindel for help, and so here he is with his Champions.

This may be one of the longest arc done for this AU, so in advance I must say I won’t post each part one after another. Some are already done, for some in-between scenes I need to find the right animations. So sorry in advance :)

This is the reason why Liu Kang asked Bi-Han to keep an eye on Shang Tsung and not his brothers or Lin Kuei friends XD Just imagine being Bi-Han, who just recovered from the last mission to come back on film set only to see everyone at each other’s throat. All because Shang Tsung decided to be menace on purpose (either out of boredom or as revenge as Kuai Liang did not believe he was worried about Sub-Zero’s safety). Bi-Han seriously is not paid enough!

Set after Lin Kuei Duty mini arc but before Lin Kuei movie night.

(The real reason for putting all blame on Tsung’s shapeshifting abilities was to avoid turning Cyrax into an angry/jealous woman, as sadly her and Harumi cutscenes are revolving around conflict and I don’t want those ladies to fight over dating issues. So yeah, Tsung to the rescue— or more likely, to mess with people for amusement XD)

A sequel to “I really can’t leave you and him unsupervised…?”. Kuai Liang and Tomas (and Harumi) have a small talk about how the Grandmaster will be disappointed by their failure of keeping an eye on Shang Tsung during Bi-Han’s absence. Of course, Kuai Liang is the most worry about mom’s reaction and the consequences XD

Author’s note: In this AU, there are plenty of timelines and so characters from alternative versions are regularly “invading” the film set. Including Dark Sub-Zero himself, who came here mainly to critique Liu Kang for how Tomas is treated. But those characters (Titans) have their own universes to worry about, so sometimes their subordinates come too, more to consult stuff with their bosses than to mess with Liu Kang’s timeline. As happened with the Lin Kuei Shang Tsung who wants to see *his* Sub-Zero, but for understandable reasons, everyone is concerned when another Shang Tsung shows up.

Despite Li Mei’s best effort to kick him from Liu Kang’s timeline, Lin Kuei Shang Tsung stayed long enough to take part in Shang Tsungs dispute over who is the best between them, as was seen in “Losers. I’m Lin Kuei (+ bonus)”

This may be seen as a sequel to “I really can’t leave you and him unsupervised…?” or just another incident with Shang Tsung using his shapeshift skills to mess with people on film set. One way or another, Liu Kang is having a disciplinary conversation with Shang Tsung… or more like trying and failing, as Shang Tsung is too busy arguing with Bi-Han to let Liu Kang say anything, even less to pay attention to the Fire Lord. Liu Kang should be angry for being stuck between Sub-Zero and Shang Tsung but in all truth? He is way too amused by those two arguing (you can even see he is smiling!).

Shang Tsung is responsible for the mess, Bi-Han and Liu Kang know it. No doubt here. But I like how it is very Shang Tsung-thing to put a blame on his other self (mortal) AND to pretend to be the other Shang Tsung to put the other in trouble (Titan).

Finally the not-so-mini arc focused on Outworld characters has begun for good! The majority of parts I have in mind for this story is already done, but I may break the streak with some other “one-shots” if editing the missing parts will take more time than it should. Anyway, this arc is both the chance to let characters to shine and to estabilish some worldbuilding on which the idea is based on.

For context, Liu Kang promised Johnny to ask Sindel for a help in making the movie. And so the Fire Lord’s Champions have another chance to visit Sun Do. Of course Johnny would like to hire Shao to play the bad guy role XD

Liu Kang always relies on King Jarrod’s friendship when he and Sindel have hard matters to discuss. Too bad the political conflict between Osh-Tekk and Naknadans keeps him out of capitol city. The first obstacle on the way!

I’m not sure if I will show the majority of Liu Kang and Sindel’s talk about the Cage’s movie, as to not bore everyone with details, when there is much more about relationship between various characters to focus on. The main argument for Mileena and Kitana to join /aid Earthrealm film crew is a chance to see Earthrealm and learn about this foreign culture outside the Mortal Kombat Tournament (what from political point allows to build a better alliance between both realms). However will Sindel accept it or not is to be seen soon :)

Anyway, Sindel is not fond of Shang Tsung, be it mortal one or Titan.

I have skipped the audience scene between Liu Kang and Sindel - maybe one day I will work on this in greater detail. For now, Liu Kang presented to the Queen and her Court what the movie is (as in, Earthrealm’s way to honor great heroes and important events among other things). Sindel will announce her decision during the Welcome Feast that night, so Liu Kang is using the given time to find allies to help him convice Sindel to his idea. Allies whose opinion Sindel holds in great respect and so he chose Liu Mei.

Of course for Outworlders, cinema/movies is some unknow yet awesome magic.

In my defense, Sindel could be pretty nasty in the story mode, so my version too can - and will - bite even those she considers to be her friends. In this case, this attitude is born from her fears about Mileena’s sickness and the not so good political situation. If Jerrod was there, he and Li Mei could advocate for Liu Kang’s idea. However as Sindel is right now under a great pressure, she is lashing out to not show any weakness in front of anyone.

Li Mei did not challenge her authority in public, but approached the Queen between one and another meeting with the Court.

The first attempt to reason with Sindel has fallen but Li Mei and Liu Kang don't give up that easily. Now they need to bring out the big guns...

If there is no Jerrod around and Sindel won't listen to Li Mei, you get Shao to argue with the Empress. The man has no fear and will happily butthead with Sindel with no worry about Imperial Court. He probably caused a lot scandals already (with adopting Reiko among many other things), so what will change one more? 🤣 Liu Kang tried to avoid it, but if Sindel wants be stubborn then he will be too in his quest of bringing Kitana and Mileena on the film set.

Taking a small break with the Enlisting Outworld friends arc. In meanwhile, as Bi-Han picked the “Noob Saibot” for Cage’s Halloween party (and freaked Liu Kang), so of course his brothers went as Saibot(s)/Shadows. The animation is MK11’s Noob Saibot Friendship. Looks like I needed some silly brotherhood moment for Bi-Han, Tomas and Kuai Liang before I will start posting again more serious arc.

Dark Sub-Zero came back to complain more about Liu Kang’s timeline.

(The Enlisting Outworlds Friends arc is almost done so I decided to wait with posting until I will finish the current sub plot)

Time to finish the Outworld Champions arc. Shao is here to get both sisters on the film crew, whether Sindel likes it or not (and yes, she wanted Kitana to go alone to Earthrealm). If he has to cause a scandal to do so, then it is Sindel’s problem, not his 🤣

In my mind, Sindel is under a great political pressure and so of course it affects her relationship with Mileena. But above everything else, she is worrying a lot about her eldest daughter, both due to Mileena’s illness and being in love with Umgadi. Normally, Jerrod is the one smoothing the tension between mother and daughter, but when absent, Shao is there to talk - and if needed, challenge Sindel to let Mileena be herself.

The plan to murder the husband is a nod to MK11 Sindel’s ending. I must say she and Shao Kahn are a surprisingly cute couple together so of course I needed to throw it into my AU. As in, Sindel and Shao are the best friends who may even be at some point romantically involved but due to Sindel’s arranged marriage never could be together. The plan was a solution in case Jerrod turned out to be some abusive asshole and Sindel needed to eliminate him - Shao would gladly take the blame on himself if needed and would wage war on anyone who dared oppose so quickly “windowed” Sindel. So yeah, there is plenty of history between those two and of course Shao knows about Mileena and Tanya as Sindel complains about that to him all the time 🤣

The main reason why Sindel doesn’t want Mileena to join Earthrealm’s film crew is the fact her oldest daughter is in love with Umgadi. She knows Mileena’s enthusiasm for Liu Kang’s project is less about soliding an alliance between their realms and more a chance to spend time with Tanya. If their relationship ever be discovered, there will be scandal and grim consequences due to Umgadi traditions and harsh law. Shao on another hand may respect Umgadi as warriors but absolutely despite their traditions, as he needed to fight tooth and nail to get custody of an orphaned Skarlet as the girl was almost enrolled into Umgadi system (an event I may one day present in more detailed way). If there is one thing Shao and Sindel don’t agree on, it is the matter of Umgadi tradition.

Here some arguments from Sindel’s point of view why letting Mileena (and Tanya) join the film crew is a bad idea. I imagine as Tanya is an official Umgadi bodyguard chosen to protect Mileena, separating them would raise too many questions and speculation from the Court. Shao, as a General, is not supposed to join it either, especially not when there is a great political tension due to conflict that King Jerrod is trying to solve offscreen (but of course he will visit from time to time to make sure the princesses and his son are okay).

The arc is almost done!

It took some time, but finally Sindel changed her mind! I’m so proud of my little plot twist, aka the secret ally Liu Kang counted out when Shao’s introduction was ambiguous at the best. I mean, his warning about Jerrod not being there was in fact an advice and not a hidden threat. Also, I like how this arc allowed me to flesh out more Shao and Sindel and their relationship “behind closed doors”. I have some more ideas for this sub-plot although either I will add some bonuses here and there or do another mini arc. For now though I feel it is time to bring back into other characters 🙂

At some point Kuai Liang will figure out Shang Tsung likes to torment him because it amuses the sorcerer. Until then, he will be always an easy target.

On serious note, Shang Tsung is not the most reliable person to make a deal with, so of course he assumed if there was no official break up, then their “dating” still works - even if Bi-Han clearly stated it is one day thing. Kuai Liang is not pleased but he should be more careful with the “after my dead body” for Shang Tsung may really contemplate his murder (as seen in the bonus) 🤣🤣🤣

Bi-Han doesn't care one way or another, Kuai Liang is overacting and Cyrax has a point that this dating mess doesn't make a sense. So she is better at figuring out Shang Tsung is just messing with Kuai Liang for the fun of it.

Cyrax is trying to get control over the situation with the (fake) dating of Shang Tsung and Bi-Han by reminding Sub-Zero this craziness is not suited for an heir of Lin Kuei. Bi-Han does not take kindly to being questioned about his duties as he is fighting hard tooth and nail to NOT MARRY anyone for years. An interesting parallel to Mileena and Tanya, who would like to be in an official relationship but can’t due to Outworld tradition.

Cyrax hoped Sektor would talk Bi-Han into officially breaking up with Shang Tsung, as Sektor herself was not okay with this nonsense. Sadly, Sektor turned out to not be of any help at all… or does she just annoy everyone so Cyrax and Kuai Liang stop bothering Bi-Han? Who knows :P

Just because Shang Tsung is smart to figure out Liu Kang’s plan to distract him, it does not mean the distraction doesn’t work 🤣

Does Shang Tsung annoy everyone on film set on purpose? That's very likely! Does he specifically pick on Kuai Liang and Tomas by messing with them with his shapeshifting skills? Oh, no doubt about that. Looks like Shang Tsung just needs to have an excuse to talk to Bi-Han. The moron has no real social skills but he is smart to figure out that picking on Bi-Han's brothers is what get Sub-Zero's attention the best 🤣

This can be seen as prequel to "But are you sure it was me, Bi-Han?"

Author’s note: FIRST AND FOREMOST, as I was too lazy to check out my archeo/ethnography/folklore books for some slavic old spells, I simply decided to use Polish words that are seen as difficult for foreigners to give the feelings of different/secret language 🤣 Sadly, I did not feel brave enough to use Czech words but if I did, I would say Tomas was a troll and made fun of Shang Tsung by providing him a list of “secret words” (but who knows, maybe Lin Kuei learned some Polish words here and there so it still can be his fault somehow XDDD)

The problem with Shang Tsung is the fact, he is his own worst enemy. So of course, he could not resist to answer Bi-Han even if he knew Sub-Zero was out there to distract him from doing anything stupid and/or dangerous. But since he broke up the “spell” while using magic, well, he turned into a cat! I picked the orange instead of black because of the “ginger is mean” stereotype. Because of course Tsung will be the meanest cat ever XD

Also, yep, I would not be myself if I didn’t use a meme to make it more crack-ish!

Author’s note: Adding some worldbuilding solely so I could bully Reiko 🤣 The seal Raiden asked about is what Shao and his soldiers wear attached to their armor. My reasoning is based on the Argus and Delia being the main gods referred to by Outworld characters. As Tanya (Umgadi) seems to be very religious and holds Delia in high regard, I like to think soldiers saw Argus as their patron.

Of course Shang Tsung would want to steal Christmas although I’m not sure if he even get what this holiday is 🤣 On serious note, do you sometimes wonder how religions work in Liu Kang’s timeline? Because I do. Still whatever timeline, I like imagine that members of Lin Kuei does not believe in gods even if they personally knew some of them 🤣🤣

I’m very curious how religions work in Liu Kang’s timeline and as I imagine, it must be pretty confusing for Outworlders. Liu Kang is the Protector of Earthrealm, he should be revered as such yet majority of Earthrealms have never heard about this guy but there is so many different holidays and religions that have nothing to do with Fire Lord. So of course Shang Tsung is confused with Bi-Han providing the simplest answer 🤣
