Chapter Text
The last time Shawn had spent a lot of time at the Matthews' was when his mother left with the trailer and his father decided to leave Philadelphia to look for her.
The boy had never felt very comfortable at the Matthews' house; he often ran away in the middle of the night and came back the next morning without anyone noticing. As much as he loved spending time with Cory and Eric as well, he couldn't feel like a member of the family. He knew it was too much for Amy and Alan to take care of another boy in the house; it couldn't be a permanent solution. He continued to feel like an unwelcome guest, often due to their different habits.
After three difficult weeks and a phone call from his father, Chet, announcing that he wouldn't be back anytime soon, Shawn just wanted to leave. But Jonathan Turner, his English teacher, stopped him and asked him to stay with him for a while. Shawn accepted.
Sadly, Chet and Virna, his mother, never returned, so the weeks Shawn was supposed to stay with Mr. Turner turned into two full years. Living together wasn't easy, Jonathan realized that he couldn't just be Shawn's friend, he also had to act like his father. He had no experience and the boy wasn't easy to handle: he didn't want to study, he tried to run away at least once a week and had been brought home by a cop multiple times.
But in those two years, they had worked on it and were finally finding a balance.
That balance, however, is ruined by a tragic motorcycle accident involving Mr. Turner while he was trying to save Shawn from the cult he joined...
