Chapter Text

The wind was blowing through Shouya‘s hair as he was riding his bike to the bridge. It was Tuesday afternoon, after school and he was excited to see Shouko in a few minutes. If he was being honest, he didn’t even like carp that much. However, he had to admit that feeding the fish was a very calming pastime activity.
He had to admit that he enjoyed it mostly because he could spend time with Shouko.

He had already made a stop at the local bakery to get some fresh bread. He hoped Shouko wasn’t just meeting with him because she felt sorry for him or because she felt responsible for him in some way.

Honestly, his thoughts still wandered to the day he had come to see Shouko again after 5 years. What would have happened if he hadn’t gone to see her? If she hadn’t responded to his sudden appearance with kindness? Would he have jumped? Would he have gone back home and just pretended as if nothing happened?

He shook his head to get rid of these thoughts. All of that didn’t matter anymore, it was in the past.

He turned the corner and got off his bike. He arrived at the small bridge but couldn’t see Shouko anywhere. Had something happened? Was she not feeling good? Maybe another stomachache?
Or maybe she just doesn’t want to see you, Shouya told himself. No, he couldn’t think like that, she was probably just late or something.

So he leaned his bike against the railing and sat down next to it on the stone.
He could just write her a quick message, asking if she was alright.
Shouya took out his phone and started typing.

Once the message was sent he ripped a chunk off of the bread and took a bite. It was good, very fluffy.
Oh, who was he kidding, he couldn’t distract himself like this. Shouko wasn’t online and she hadn’t even received the message. Had she blocked him? Maybe she finally remembered and understood how disgusting and egoistic he was.

He figured it‘d be best to wait and see if she was gonna come today. If not, he‘d stop by her place, just to make sure she was okay.
He couldn’t stop worrying though.
