Chapter Text
Sitting in front of the large windows that showed the view of the city. Vox could only think of one thing..one person that flooded his mind like a damn river. Alastor. To know that he was still alive, he was sure his attack would end his life. How was he able to hold on for so long until Luci found him? How long had he been bleeding to death? Well whatever the answer, he was still alive, and now, more than anything - he wanted to have him to himself. He did not care if he had to force it.
Luci..that damn angel. Had it not been for her, he would not have to be back on the path to keep Alastor to himself. The desire to control him, touch him, love him. It was so bad, he needed him. Vox let out an annoyed scoff, snapping his fingers once and once only. Beside him a golden light began to form, growing bigger and bigger until the figure of a specific person formed. Once the light was gone, Luci was now beside him.
“You..you called?”
Yeah, called like a dog on a leash. Literally.
“I need you to do me a favor. A pretty big one.” He stood up from his seat, adjusting his sleeves before intimidatingly walking up to Luci, a smirk on his face. Well that's not good. Luci tried hard not to take a step back, but with how he was looking at her, he made it impossible. As she took a step back, he took one towards her.
“You know..Alastor. Is very important to me. I need you to bring him to me.”
As if he would ever blindly follow Luci into the building. That sounded funny. Luci however did not laugh, knowing if she was being used as bait, it would not end well for both parties.
“W-Why would-”
“You kept him alive, the only reason I tried to kill him was so that I did not have to worry about anyone else having him, besides myself. But since that is no longer the case, he is bound to end up with someone while I am around.”
Luci’s back met the wall, which had Vox cage her in between his arms.
“Listen well you fucking bird.” Ouch. “I need you to use that little charm of yours, befriend Alastor, get him to trust you and then bring him to me. I will give you an address to lure him into when the time is right.”
Luci frowned, looking down on the ground. What was in it for her? She only met the demon, sure she wanted to be friends with him but..to know she was going to build a friendship that would not be real. It wasn't right.
“And in return, I set you free.”
Well shit..
Luci walked down the streets, hugging herself as she contemplated her decision. Being set free was a dream she had longed for. But the process of getting that far? What would happen to Alastor once he was lured in? Would he survive? Would Vox be nice about whatever he was planning to do? Was Vox telling the truth about letting her go..?
Oh god, she didn't know what to think, what if it was a trap for both her and Alastor. No..she won't do it! But she has to try, but what if it fails? She stomped her feet, letting out a puff, regretting the choice seconds later as she was wearing heels.
“Ow ow!”
Kneeling down, she rubbed her ankle, mentally scolding herself for doing something stupid like that. Was her heel broken now? Wow..and she just bought them.
“Fancy seeing you here.”
Luci looked up, gulping when her eyes met the familiar crimson colored ones. Vox’s words replayed in her mind..she needs to lure him..translation: Look pretty and work some magic!
“Y-Yeah yeah..I uhm-ack!”
Standing back up, Luci attempted to fix her posture, only for her heel to snap, causing her to lose her balance. Before she could even reach the ground, a cold, yet gentle pair of hands held her up. But it wasn't Alastor himself, it was his shadow who appeared from behind her. Luci was shocked, not knowing she was able to feel the shadow like that. How amazing.
“O-Oh thank you so much.” Shadow formed a smile on his face, bowing his head before flying behind Alastor who seemed unfazed with everything. With a few tricks of his staff, his arms rested behind his back, looking down at the angel before him.
Luci removed her heels, holding them from the ends as she looked up at the demon. Alright Luci, work that charm of yours!
“Uhm-”
“Goodbye.”
What? Alastor began walking, a small tune emitting from his staff as he hummed. Luci did not know how to react, so she ended up following him from a distance. Not completely alone, since Shadow noticed her following, happily smiling and flying over towards her. Luci reached her hand out, wanting to see if she could feel him. But was shocked when her hand went right through.
“He will only let people touch him, if he is interested. Do not waste your time.”
Alastor spoke, not sparing her a glance. Well ouch. Even the shadow wasn't fully letting his guard down. Luci formed a small pout, nonetheless enjoying the company. Alastor continued to walk, now hearing giggles and chatter behind him. He wanted to ignore it, not wanting to know what his shadow and the girl were doing. But curiosity got the better of him. Well not really, he just wanted to see her. Well..not really, he was getting a tad annoyed with the giggles.
When he turned his head, he froze, his eye twitching as his smile was strained.
Luci was being worshiped by his damn shadow. Shadow stealing whatever he could find around him and placing it on her. Such as a sun hat, or jewelry, even went as far as stealing some comfortable shoes for her to wear instead of being barefoot.
Well so much for trying to be mysterious. Luci hummed, her feet not hurting anymore as she bowed her head to the shadow.
“Thank you, you are very kind.” She giggled afterwards, until she noticed Alastor staring at them both. Shadow hid behind her, afraid if he walked up to his owner, Alastor would force him away. Luci removed the sun hat, nervously smiling.
“We were just uhm..uhm..”
“Acting like fools.”
Ouch. Alastor continued to walk, not sparing them another glance. Luci frowned, looking over at Shadow who only shrugged. Was he not in the mood? Why was he so cold? How was she going to lure him in if he was being distant? Then again..did she want to go through with it? She has yet to hear his side of the story, to know how he feels about everything. It was too soon to even ask. He doesn't even know what she knows. Luci followed him, humming quietly to keep herself busy. Shadow flew around her, admiring her, something about her appearance was unlike any other sinner around here. She was different but didnt know why. Her skin was pale white, her eyeshadow a hint of purple, liner that made her eyes pop out so perfectly with her cheeks marked adorably with those small red circles. A single curl fell down her face, she was breathtaking. Was she even a demon?
Luci, was too caught up in her own little world, she failed to see how she had followed Alastor all the way towards a different side of the pentagram. Of course, she once realized that when she bumped into him as he stopped in his tracks.
“Omph!”
Alastor spared her no glance, slightly relieved that his coat was hiding his tail wagging from her touch. As he continued walking, he began to head straight for a certain building. Luci scanned around, not familiar with where she was. Was his some small town full of vintage type clothing? It looked..really nice! No one was screaming, or crying in pain, everyone was walking either alone or with their beloved. Luci could not help but smile. Perhaps she can-
“AGHH!”
Or not. Luci was frozen when she watched as a lady began biting off the fingers of a random man, chewing them as if it was nothing, the crunch of the bone, the blood trickling down her face as she began to attack him more, ripping off pieces of his flesh while he screamed in pain. Others began to join in and some just minded their business. Luci was shocked. What the fuck!?
She gulped, following Alastor once he began walking into a building. Oh my..it was crowded, she managed to squeeze by with him. Alastor let out a huff, walking up to a woman who was well dressed, her hair short well done, her eyes as black as the void, she looked so proper, so put together. She was beautiful. Once Alastor appeared in her sight, she excused herself, walking up to him with such a bright smile.
“Alastor! Oh my how long has it been? I haven't seen you since the rumors of your-”
“I have been dealing with some…business of some sort. Best not to get into the details. I need a small favor if you do not mind.”
“Well then, direct to the point I see. Oh?”
Luci shyly hid behind Alastor when the both of them made eye contact. Oh no..was she going to eat her? What was she thinking following Alastor to a place she was unfamiliar with? Stupid stupid!!
“And who is this darling little angel?”
What?!
“Ah, this is..” Alastor paused, looking down at Luci, teasing her as if he had actually forgotten her name. He really just needed her to talk. After all…a woman can speak for herself.
“Luci..and you are?”
“Well well Luci, aren't you a sight to see? I must say, seeing a demon like you really is fascinating. Tell me Alastor, where did you catch this little bird?”
She let out a small giggle, scanning Luci top to bottom, getting a good look at her. Luci felt small..sure she was used to being looked at, but the way this lady was looking at her, it felt different, like she was trying to read her, to figure out who she is..what she is. Alastor chimed in, doing a few tricks with his staff.
“Where are my manners? Luci, this is Rosie, the most darling dangerous overlord, this side of the pentagram.”
Rosie waved her hand, clearly pleased with how she was introduced as.
“Oh what a charmer you are, it is lovely to meet you Luci, say..would you like some tea? Perhaps some fingers to snack on? Surely you must be hungry, knowing this man he probably didn’t stop by to ensure you have been fed.”
Alastor felt his eye twitch. Luci nervously waved her hands around. “N-No no! I am well fed, but thank you so much for the offer.”
Rosie hummed, now focusing on the reason why they were there.
“Alright then, back to business. What is it you need, Alastor? This favor of yours seems important since you sure come out of the blue.”
“Ah yes, I would rather we spoke in private, Luci, be a darling and wait for me here.”
Luci had no time to speak, already seeing the both of them walking away. She frowned, looking around to see a few demons staring at her. How long had they been staring? Do they want to eat her? Oh no…was she their next meal? Is that why he left her? No no..that can't be right. It just can't!
“Well then?”
“I will do what you asked for, besides it’s the least I can do, it looks like you have been through the works.” Rosie chuckled, slightly making fun of him. Alastor only scoffed in return, glaring at the tea set she had prepared for the both of them.
“And about the girl herself..she a friend of yours?”
“Luci is the one who has healed me..it is why I need your help in keeping an eye on her…well..your cannibals eye on her. She is no ordinary demon, she must have done something to get those abilities of hers. If I know where she was able to achieve them..perhaps I will be able to get the same, take back what is mine, have the sinners remember the name-”
“Pardon me, Rosie, you have an angry group wanting to see you.” A fellow cannibal peaked their head through the curtain. Once the word got to Rosie, she wasted no time fleeing to the situation. Alastor growled, feeling like he was not being taken seriously. He got up, walking out of the small room and heading towards the exit where he found Luci happily scanning the items on the display while a cannibal was happily showing them off.
“Let us go.”
Alastor walked out of the building, while Luci scrambled to collect her heels which she had been carrying with her. Once she followed him outside, she wasted no time standing by his side.
“W-Well uhm..”
“How long do you intend to follow me?”
Well damn, you'd think after being told to leave with him, you both would be on terms where it's ok to follow without question. But he was right..how long did she plan to follow him till it was time to part ways?
“I uhm..”
“Answer me this. Do you get visitors at home?”
“N-No not really, not unless i’m late for work or my boss has something important to tell me. How come?”
Oh..
Luci frowned, watching as Alastor did not try to hide the fact that he was judging the place. But he had no say.
“This will do.”
“For what exactly?”
“For me to hide here! Or in better terms, live here!”
WHAT?
Luci was at a loss for words, watching as Alastor began walking around the place, eventually finding a spare room. He immediately took ownership, setting his coat down on the desk the room had. Was he really planning on staying here? How come? Does he not have a home?
“You know by now that I cannot go to my home or what others call, my radio tower, I am being searched by that man you work for. So this place will suffice for a hideout until he is taken care of. Of course I shall help around with daily duties as a payment for letting me be here. When he does happen to come around I will simply vanish and come back when he is gone.”
“But..don't you have abilities? Why would-”
“Unfortunately..with how his tech has advanced, he will be able to feel when a single radio wave is being used, he will use it to find me and I will have no way of escaping without proper planning. The only thing I am able to do in the meantime is simply vanish within the ground. But fret not, I will have him dealt with accordingly, and you shall help me.
What…
