Work Text:

The sky in Heaven was always a serene blue, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the trees that whispered with ancient voices.

The great expanse stretched out endlessly, clouds swirling in a soft dance under the watchful gaze of the Creator. For Dean Winchester, it was home—peaceful, quiet and full of endless love shared with his mate, Castiel.

Dean was perched on the edge of a cloud, his white wings stretched out behind him, their feathers ruffled from the wind. He loved flying; the sensation of freedom, the rush of air through his feathers, the way his grace felt amplified and alive. But what he loved most was when Cas flew with him, his wings brushing against his, their bond shining brightly in the ethereal light.

Today, however, Cas was back at their home, waiting for Dean to return. He had been working on a new nest, one that Dean had started building in their shared bed, gathering soft clouds, feathers and bits of heavenly fabric to create a space that felt like a warm embrace.

Dean smiled at the thought of his mate fussing over the nest. Cas was always so attentive, so caring. He often groomed Dean's wings, smoothing each feather with careful hands, murmuring softly to him until Dean felt utterly relaxed, his head resting in Cas's lap.

Dean spread his wings wide, ready to take flight once more, when a sudden, sharp pain shot through his stomach. He gasped, his hand clutching his abdomen as the pain intensified. His wings wavered, struggling to keep him aloft as he felt a wave of dizziness washing over him.

“C-Cas…Alpha?” he whispered, but his voice was too faint, lost in the wind. He tried to steady his wings, but they refused to obey. His vision blurred and before he knew it, he was plummeting through the sky, the ground rushing up to meet him.

At their home, Cas felt a sudden jolt in his chest, a deep, primal fear gripping his heart. He looked up, sensing his mate’s distress through their bond. “Dean, baby!?” he called out, his voice laced with panic.

He saw Dean falling, his wings flapping uselessly as he hurtled toward the ground. Cas’s heart stopped for a moment and then he was moving, his own wings unfurling in a powerful beat. He soared into the sky, his eyes locked on Dean, his every instinct screaming at him to reach his mate.

“Dean!” Cas shouted again, his voice filled with terror and determination. He pushed his wings harder, faster, feeling the burn on his muscles but ignoring it. All that mattered was getting to Dean, catching him before he fell too far.

Finally, just as the ground loomed dangerously close, Cas reached out and grabbed Dean, pulling him into his arms, their bodies colliding with a force that knocked the breath from both of them. Cas wrapped his wings around Dean protectively, slowing their descent until they landed gently on their home.

Cas held Dean close, his heart racing, his breath coming in ragged gasps. “Dean… my love, are you okay?” he asked, his voice trembling with fear.

Dean’s face was pale, his eyes half-closed and he clutched his stomach, wincing in pain. “Cas… I… I don’t know,” he whispered, his voice weak. “It hurts… my stomach…”

Cas’s heart clenched and he gently lowered Dean onto their nest, his hands carefully inspecting his mate’s body. “Let me see, sweetheart,” he murmured, his voice filled with quiet urgency. “I need to check you out.”

Dean nodded, his breath hitching with pain as he leaned back, allowing Cas to lift his shirt and examine his stomach. Cas’s eyes were focused, his hands steady as he gently pressed against Dean’s abdomen.

Suddenly, Cas felt a faint, rhythmic flutter beneath his fingertips and his eyes widened in shock and realization. “Dean, baby,” he whispered, his voice filled with awe and wonder. “You’re… you’re pregnant.”

Dean blinked, his eyes widening in surprise. “What?” he whispered, his voice trembling. “Pregnant…? Are you sure?”

Cas wiped the tears of joy pouring from his eyes. “Yes, my love, you are pregnant. You're carrying our baby. You're carrying a life of us inside you, my beloved." He leaned over Dean and planted a soft kiss on his lips. “I love you, my baby.” He whispered on Dean's lips.

Then, Cas landed his hand on Dean's exposed stomach. He planted affectionate kisses on Dean's now-smaller baby bump. “And I love you too, my other baby.”

Cas’s scruffy beard tickled Dean’s belly as he continued to pepper him with kisses. "Oh, but I'm getting jealous of our baby already, Cas. You're giving me a kiss but you're giving them dozens of kisses." He said with a fake touchiness.

Cas immediately placed dozens of kisses on Dean's lips one after another. Then, Cas planted kisses on Dean's face, neck, shoulders, arms and all over his body. “Is it all right now, sweetheart? If you ask, I will give you a hundred kisses, my love.” He sucked the mating bite off Dean's neck and left new hickeys.

Dean could not control the waves of pleasure that passed through his body in the face of this feeling. A few small moans came out of Dean's mouth. But just as they were about to go further, Dean felt dizzy and he began to feel sluggish.

Cas noticed this immediately. "Dean, baby, are you okay? What is that?" Cas couldn't control the panic in his voice.

“Well, I feel a little sluggish. I think our little one is already starting to push their daddy.” Dean patted his belly with a little smile.

Cas giggled and planted a kiss on Dean's lips. “It may be because they are stubborn like their daddy." He patted Dean's belly and planted a kiss.

Dean nodded, a soft smile on his lips. “I’m a little scared,” he admitted quietly, his hand moving to rest over his stomach, feeling the faint flutter of new life within him. “I didn't expect that I might be pregnant, Cas… What if something goes wrong?”

Cas felt a sharp pang of worry at Dean’s words. He knew how deeply Dean feared losing something he loved and now that they had a new life to protect, Cas’s protective instincts surged even stronger. He leaned closer, pressing a soft kiss to Dean’s forehead. “Nothing will go wrong, my love." he promised firmly, his voice steady and calm. “I’ll be right here with you, every step of the way. I won’t let anything happen to you or our child.”

Dean closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of Cas’s presence seep into his bones, easing the tension in his muscles. He took a deep breath, feeling a little more at ease. “I know you will, Alpha." he whispered, his voice was full of trust.

Cas smiled, his heart swelling with love. He gently brushed his fingers through Dean’s hair, his touch light and soothing. “Rest now, my love,” he murmured softly. “I’ll be right here.”

Dean nodded, his eyes fluttering closed, exhaustion and the emotional weight of the day finally catching up to him. He drifted off to sleep, his breathing evening out as he rested in the safety of Cas’s arms.

Over the next few weeks, Cas was more attentive than ever, watching Dean closely, always ready to catch him if he stumbled, always by his side to help him through the challenges of pregnancy. Every time Dean’s grace seemed to flicker or his wings drooped with exhaustion, Cas was there to hold him, to press gentle kisses on his forehead and whisper words of encouragement.

When Dean’s morning sickness hit with full force, Cas was there, rubbing soothing circles on Dean’s back as he leaned over a basin, whispering soft reassurances. “You’re doing so well, Dean. Just breathe, sweetheart… I’ve got you.”

When Dean’s feet swelled or his back ached, Cas would gently massage him, his hands firm yet tender, easing the tension from Dean’s muscles. “You’re so strong, baby." Cas would murmur, pressing a kiss to Dean’s temple. “So brave, my love.”

Dean smiled weakly through the discomfort, his heart swelling with gratitude and love for his mate. He never felt alone in his struggles; Cas was always there, his presence a comforting anchor, his love a constant reassurance.

One evening, as the sun set over Heaven, painting the sky in shades of gold and pink, Dean sat on the edge of their bed, carefully arranging the nest he’d been building. He placed soft feathers and bits of fabric around him, creating a cozy space where he and Cas could rest together.

Cas watched him with a soft smile, his heart swelling with affection as he saw how determined Dean was to make their space feel warm and safe. “The nest looks perfect, my precious Omega." Cas murmured, stepping closer and wrapping his arms around Dean from behind, his chin resting on Dean’s shoulder.

Dean leaned back against Cas, a contented sigh escaping his lips. “I wanted it to feel like home, Alpha." he whispered. “For you, for me… and for our baby.”

Cas’s heart melted at the tenderness in Dean’s voice. “It already feels like home,” he replied softly, pressing a gentle kiss to Dean’s neck. “Anywhere with you is home.”

Dean smiled, turning his head to capture Cas’s lips in a soft kiss. “I love you, Cas,” he whispered against his lips, his voice filled with emotion.

Cas deepened the kiss, his hands caressing Dean’s belly, feeling the faint flutter of their child. “And I love you, baby." he breathed, his voice filled with reverence. “More than words can ever say.”

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped in each other’s arms, feeling the warmth of their bond, the promise of a future filled with love and joy.

But not every day was so serene.

One morning, Dean woke up feeling a heaviness in his wings. His grace seemed to pulse erratically, a sensation that made him wince. “Cas…?” he murmured, rubbing at his temples as he tried to shake off the discomfort.

Cas was by his side in an instant, his brow furrowing with concern. “What’s wrong, my love? Are you in pain?”

Dean nodded slightly, his wings twitching with irritation. “Feels like my grace is… off,” he whispered, his voice strained. “My wings feel so heavy.”

Cas’s worry deepened, and he gently guided Dean to lie down. “Let me help, sweetheart." he murmured, his hands already moving to groom Dean’s wings with practiced care, smoothing each feather, aligning them properly. He could feel Dean’s muscles relax under his touch, his mate’s breathing evening out.

Dean sighed in relief, his eyes fluttering shut. “You always know how to make it better,” he whispered, his voice full of gratitude.

Cas smiled softly, his fingers continuing their gentle work. “I’ll always be here to take care of you, my love.” he replied quietly.

The weeks passed, and Cas’s protectiveness only grew stronger. He was constantly by Dean’s side, helping him through the challenges of his pregnancy. He carried Dean when his feet swelled too much to walk, held him close when his back ached, and whispered soothing words whenever Dean’s anxiety flared up.

“Do you think… I’ll be a good parent?” Dean asked one night, his voice barely a whisper in the quiet of their room.

Cas turned to him, his eyes filled with love and certainty. “I know you will be, my beloved." he said softly, his hand resting over Dean’s. “You already are. You’re brave and strong, and you have so much love to give.”

Dean smiled, a tear slipping down his cheek. “Thank you, Cas… I needed to hear that.”

Cas kissed the tear away, his own eyes misting over. “I believe in you, my love,” he murmured. “With all my heart.”

Then came the day, when Dean’s grace seemed to flicker and fade, his wings trembling as he leaned against Cas for support. “Alpha, something’s wrong…,” he whispered, his voice strained.

Cas’s heart clenched with fear. “Hold on, baby,” he urged, wrapping his arms around his mate. “I’ve got you. Just hold on…”

Dean nodded, his breathing shallow, his eyes filled with trust and love. “I trust you… Cas… I trust you to keep us safe."

Cas took a deep breath, his wings spreading wide as he flew toward the celestial gardens, seeking the guidance of the heavenly healers. He could feel Dean’s pulse weakening, his mate’s grace dimming, and his heart pounded with terror. “Please, hold on, my love,” he whispered, his voice breaking with emotion. “Hold on for me… for our baby…”

The healers surrounded them, their hands glowing with divine light as they examined Dean. Cas held his breath, his heart pounding with fear and hope. “Will he be okay?” he asked, his voice trembling.

One of the healers looked up, a gentle smile on their lips. “He is strong,” they said softly. “He is carrying a new life within him, a powerful grace that will only grow stronger with time. He just needs rest… and love.”

Cas nodded, his tears falling freely. “He will have all the love in the world,” he promised, his voice filled with conviction. “I will make sure of it.”

The healers nodded and stepped back, allowing Cas to take Dean in his arms once more. “Take him home,” they advised. “Let him rest… and let him feel your love.”

Cas cradled Dean close, his wings wrapping around him protectively as he took flight once more. He could feel the faint pulse of their child, the new life growing within his mate, and his heart swelled with love and determination.

Back at home, Cas laid Dean gently in their nest, his hands smoothing over his mate’s brow, brushing away the sweat and fear. “Rest, my love,” he whispered softly. “I’m here… I’m always here.”

Dean’s eyes fluttered open, a soft smile gracing his lips. “Cas…,” he murmured, his voice weak but filled with love. “Thank you… for being here for me, for us…”

Cas’s tears fell freely, and he leaned down, pressing a kiss to Dean’s lips. “I’ll always be here with you,” he vowed. “and with our baby."

Dean’s eyes closed once more, a peaceful expression settling over his face as he drifted into a deep, restful sleep, secure in the knowledge that he was loved, cherished, and protected—always.

Several months later, after days of anticipation and tender care, Dean felt the first signs of labor. Cas was at his side in an instant, his hands trembling with both fear and excitement. “It’s time, Alpha. Our baby is coming." Dean whispered, his voice filled with awe and wonder.

Cas’s heart raced, but he smiled, his hand gripping Dean’s tightly. “I’m here,” he murmured. “I’m right here, baby.”

The delivery was long and painful, but Dean’s strength never faltered, his eyes locked on Cas’s, drawing comfort from his mate’s presence.

And finally, with a triumphant cry, a new life entered the world—a tiny, delicate angel with wings as white as snow and eyes as bright as the morning star. Dean let out a sob of relief and joy, his body collapsing back against the nest as he felt the warmth of his newborn nestled in his arms.

Cas’s breath caught in his throat, his eyes wide with awe and love as he gazed down at their child. “She’s beautiful,” he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. “Just like you, Dean.”

Dean’s tears flowed freely, a soft, disbelieving laugh escaping his lips. “She’s perfect,” he whispered, cradling the tiny angel close to his chest. “So small… so perfect…”

Cas leaned down, his hand gently brushing over the baby’s head, his fingers tracing the delicate curve of her wings. “Our little miracle,” he murmured softly. “Our beautiful, perfect miracle.”

Dean smiled, his heart swelling with love as he looked down at their daughter. “What should we name her?” he asked, his voice still thick with tears.

Cas paused for a moment, his eyes filled with thought. Then a soft smile spread across his lips. “Hope,” he whispered. “Her name should be Hope… Because she’s brought so much hope into our lives.”

Dean’s smile grew, his tears falling even faster. “Hope Winchester-Novak.” he echoed softly.

Cas nodded, his heart overflowing with love as he gazed at his mate and their newborn daughter. “I promise to protect you both,” he whispered, his voice filled with quiet determination. “Forever.”

Dean looked up at him, his eyes filled with gratitude and love. “I know you will,” he murmured. “And I love you for it, Cas… So much…”

Cas leaned down, capturing Dean’s lips in a tender kiss. “I love you too, sweetheart." he whispered against his lips.

Dean let out a contented sigh, his head resting against Cas’s shoulder as they gazed down at their daughter, their hearts full and overflowing. “We’re a family now,” he whispered softly. “A real family…”

Cas smiled, his arms wrapping around both Dean and Hope, holding them close. “The luckiest family in Heaven,” he replied softly. “And I’ll spend every day proving that to you, my love.”

Dean’s heart swelled with happiness, and he leaned into Cas’s embrace, feeling the warmth and strength of his mate surrounding him. “I believe you,” he whispered, his voice filled with quiet certainty. “I always have.”

Cas pressed another kiss to Dean’s forehead, his heart overflowing with love. “Rest now, my beloved,” he murmured softly. “You’ve done so well. I’ll take care of everything from here.”

Dean nodded, his eyes fluttering closed, a peaceful smile on his lips. “Thank you, Cas.” he whispered.

In the days that followed, Cas was a constant presence by Dean’s side, his hands always ready to help, his voice always soothing and filled with love. He held Hope gently, marveling at her tiny features, her soft wings, and the way she nestled so perfectly in his arms.

Every time Dean woke up, he would find Cas sitting beside him, his eyes bright with love and happiness. “How are you feeling, sweetheart?” Cas would ask softly, his hand gently stroking Dean’s cheek.

Dean would smile, his heart filled with warmth. “Better,” he would reply. “Because you’re here.”

Cas’s heart would swell with joy, and he would lean down to kiss Dean’s lips, whispering softly, “I’ll always be here, my love.”

One night, as they lay together in their nest, Hope sleeping peacefully between them, Dean turned to Cas, his eyes filled with emotion. “Thank you,” he whispered, his voice trembling. “For everything. For loving me… for loving her… for being here.”

Cas’s eyes softened, and he leaned closer, his hand resting over Dean’s. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” he replied softly. “You and Hope are my everything, Dean. My purpose… my life.”

Dean’s tears fell freely, his heart aching with love. “I don’t know what I did to deserve you,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “But I’m so grateful… so grateful…”

Cas kissed him gently, his own tears mingling with Dean’s. “You deserve everything, my love,” he murmured softly. “You’re my heart, my soul… and now, the mother of our beautiful daughter.”

Dean let out a soft, contented sigh, his head resting against Cas’s shoulder. “I’m so happy,” he whispered. “With you and with her."

Cas smiled, his hand brushing through Dean’s hair. “And I’ll make sure you stay that way, baby." he promised softly.

Dean closed his eyes, feeling the love and warmth of his mate surrounding him, and he knew, without a doubt, that everything would be okay—because they had each other, and they had Hope.
