Work Text:

“Good luck winning Splatfest Battles when no one inks the base, assholes!!” Anna yelled as she left the lobby, leaving the current team she had been fighting with for the Splatfest Battles. She'd put her current weapon, the Krak-On Splat Roller, back in her locker before she had stormed out. The octoling was in a bad mood so she decided to go somewhere she knew would cheer her up, Hotlantis. Seeing Harmony, her girlfriend of three months always put Anna in a better mood.

“Hey, Harmony” The octoling groaned as she opened the doors to Hotlantis. Harmony looked up at her from where she was squatting down, playing so with her ultra hand. “Jeez, seems like you're in a bad mood, did another person using an e-liter absolutely destroy you?” Harmony said with a joking tone, referring to the time when Anna had come in and gone on a rant about how much she hated e-liters after she had gotten splatted a bunch of times by someone using an e-liter during a match. Anna groaned at the memory, e-liters were truly the bane of her existence, “That was one time! Besides its about my teammates this time” She said “Alright, let's go to the backroom and you can tell me all about it” Harmony said as she stood up and led Anna to the backroom of Hotlantis. There was a small couch in the room for employees to use during breaks and Harmony sat down while Anna laid her head in her girlfriend's lap. “So what happened this time that put you in a bad mood?” Harmony asked as she stroked Anna's head, “My teammates sucked, they barely inked the base, the only inking they did is what I assume was their trail on getting to the middle. It's called turf war, not fight in the middle the whole time coddammit!” Anna said. “Both matches were fought on the same stage, being Inkblot Art Academy and both times I'm the only one who inked the base. I honestly should have left after the first match when they did that instead of going another round with them. I hope they learn their lesson about inking the base and start pulling their weight. Yeah, taking control of the middle is important but having control of the middle doesn't matter when the other team wins anyway because they inked more things because they inked their base while we didn't! Cod, I swear a lot of these kids don't know how to play Turf War these days” Anna said. Despite her only having been living among inklings for seven years she'd been playing a lot of Turf War in that time and knew how it worked so it pissed her off when she knew more about things than inklings who had known about this stuff their whole lives. Anna then sighed, having felt better after ranting to her girlfriend “Thanks for listening to me Harmy” The octoling said, calling her by the nickname she had given her before giving her a kiss, making sure the kiss wasn't uncomfortable due to how the two fangs that all octolings have were much longer for her, to the point they stuck out of her mouth as snaggleteeth. “No problem, it's interesting to hear about turf wars” Harmony said before she stared at Anna's face for a bit, having noticed something “Hey, your eyes changed color, they were red when you walked in” She said “Oh, did they? What color are they now?” Anna asked, her eye color changing was fairly normal, as it would often change color depending on the day, sometimes she'd have the same eye color for months while others times it'd change again within a few days or weeks “They're this pretty light purple, and I think there's also some light green too” Harmony said. “Well, that's nice to know” Anna said before she got off the couch “Anyways, I'd better get back to doing Turf War, the Splatfest isn't going to wait” Anna said “I love you, Harmony” Anna said before she kissed the anemone's cheek and left the Hotlantis backroom.
