“Mortal?” You heard Gabriel call out, you whip your head in the direction of his voice and are met with the cutest sight, you catch the giggle that half comes out with a cough.
Gabriel is standing in your bedroom, in his hands he holds one of your large stuffed animals, knowing him, you can tell that underneath that helm he’s studying it with a clinical eye.
“Yes, Gabriel?” You reply, cocking an amused eyebrow in his direction, a smile pulling at the edges of your lips.
“What…” he begins, head turning to look at the item before meeting your gaze once more, “…is this?”
“Oh that old thing?” You muse, walking over to him you gently take the item off his hands for a moment and gaze lovingly at it before replying back to him, “This is Oskar-“ the comically large blonde dog plush bounces in your arms as you jostle it around slightly at the mention of its name. “-He’s my best friend.”
“A friend?” He questions, a hint of curiosity lacing his words.
“Yes!” You nod, “He’s a stuffed animal- a toy, if you will.”
“Hmmm…”bYou listen as Gabriel hums in acknowledgment at the information, “…I see…”
“Do you want to hold him?” You offer, “Be gentle though, he’s quite old.”
Wordlessly you watch as Gabriel extends his arms to you, hands at the ready. Smiling, you hand him the stuffed dog and watch as he takes it gently, seeming almost frightened to damage it.
“What purpose does he serve?” Gabriel asks you, by the sound of his voice, you wager that he’s genuinely interested in the object.
“Comfort and emotional support, largely.” You confess.
“How?”
You shrug, “Well, I suppose that the most common way is whenever I was upset growing up as a child, he was always there to hug. If I needed someone to talk to, he was the first one I’d go to…” you smile softly to yourself at the mention of such old memories, “Honestly, he never judged me…” you pause briefly before giggling, “I mean, not like he could anyways! Toys can’t talk, sadly.”
Gabriel nods his head as he listens to you explain Oskar’s purpose, it seems that he’s in deep thought. You take this as a sign to leave him be with the stuffed plush;
“I’m a bit hungry, so I’ll make something to eat, do you…want anything?” You offer.
Gabriel gives you a nod of his head,
“Alright” you promptly disappear from your room to downstairs where the kitchen lies.
After a brief moment since your absence, Gabriel walks over to your bed and gently places the plush down, he makes a turn to leave but hesitates for a moment before turning back to Oskar;
“Thank you for keeping them safe, in my absence.” He whispers to the doll.
“Gabriel!” He hears you shout, “Food’s ready!”
“C-Coming!”
