Work Text:
Kei was fresh out of the shower searching for her most precious item. Her hair straightener. She straightens her hair every single sunday, and she's been doing this since 7th grade when her mom passed down her old one to Kei. She has always hated her natural hair. The curls just looked weird on her. So you can imagine the panic she's in when she's earched her entire bathroom for her straightener, and it's just nowhere to be found.
She opened the bathroom door and ran downstairs to her mom.
"Mom! Where's my straightener? I can't find it." She asked, a little paniced.
"Oh, I think your father might have thrown it away."
"What!" This can not be happening. This has to be a prank. "Why would he do that?"
"Honey, that thing was old. We'll just get you a new one next weekend." Her mom was far too relaxed considering the disarray her own daughter is in.
"I dont need a new one, I liked that one! It worked just fine!" Kei responded.
"You know, if you jeep yelling at me, I'll just not get you a new one." Her mom said.
"Wait, no! I'm sorry, mom." Kei looked down. "I just wished he told me he was gonna toss it is all."
"Well, I'm sorry baby, but we'll get you a new nice one next weekend. Besides, I love your hair. it's so cute." Her mom said, pinching Keis cheeks. "Go use my hair products, there in my bathroom."
"Okay." Kei went back upstairs and finished getting ready for bed.
Kei gets her curls from her mom. Her mom loves her hair, but Kei doesn't see the appeal. Her hair looks so weird on her. Straight hair looks much prettier. It's so smooth and shiny. Her curls just poof up in a giant frizz ball. But she doesn't really have much of a choice right now. When she gets her new flat iron, she gonna pick out the fanciest most expensive one just to spite her pearnts.
When Kei woke up, her hair didn't actually look terrible. But she still misses her straight hair. She finished getting ready for school and dealt with her whole family being all giddy over her hair, then she left to walk with Tadashi.
"Hey Tsuki!" She said before quickly looking shocked. "Oh my gosh! Your hair! You didn't straighten it!"
"I hate it." Kei responded dryly.
"What!? It's so cute!" Tadashi responded. "It reminds me of when you wouldn't straighten. You would wear pigtails every day and had braces." Tadashi giggles at tge memories.
"You know, you laughing at me doesn't make me feel better." Kei's cheeks turned a little pink.
"I'm not laughing at you!" Tadashi giggled out before she quickly stopped.
"What?" Kei turned to her friend.
"What do you think Kageyama will think?" Tadashi asked.
Kei face heated up. "Why do you ask?"
"I just realized your girlfriend has never seen your natural hair." Tadashi said.
"Oh. Do you think she'll like it?" If keo hated her hair before, then she really hated it now. What if Tobio hated it? What if she thinks it's ugly and dumps her?
"Wait! I didn't mean to stress you out! I just mean, like, you know what? It was stupid of me to say!" Tadashi stumbles over her words a little as they keep walking to school.
They get to school, and Shoyo and Tobio are already waiting for them at the front gates. They turn tgere heads, and Kei watches both their eyes widen.
"Tsukishima! Your hair! What!" Shoyo shouts. But tobio just stands there wide-eyed.
"Yeah, I normally straighten it, but my dad threw it out." Kei supplied.
"You look so cute! Dosent she Kageyama?" Shoyo turns to Tobio, who just nods in response.
Oh god, Kei thinks, she hates it. Kei's face heats up a little as her girlfriend stares at her.
Shoyo and Tadashi walk ahead of them while Kei and Tobio walk into school together.
"It's just for the week, I'm getting a new one this weekend." Kei tells her under her breath.
"Oh," Tobio says, "that's a shame." Kei feels a hand snake around her waist.
"Why?" Kei asks, a little breathless.
"You look hot with your hair all curly is all." Tobio responds. As if Kei wasn't just scared for her life.
"Oh!" Kei yelps out.
Tobio must have really liked Kei's hair because she couldn't take her eyes or hands off her all day.
They always eat lunch together, but the whole time, Tobio was just leaving kisses along Kei's neck and had her hands araped around Kei's waist. Kei was eating her lunch, but it was hard to focus on her food when she was in her girlfriends lap, getting hickeys put all over her neck.
"Tobio, I still have classes." Kei whimpered out. "And we have practice! How am i supposed to explain all these hickeys?"
"I'm sorry, baby." Tobio said between kisses."You just look so good. I'm just trying to soak it all up."
Kei put her hands on her face to try and cover the horrible blush taking over it.
Kei was late for her class after lunch because she was busy trying to cover up all the hicjeys Tobio left on her neck. But it was only worse before practice.
Tobio had her pinned to a wall, and they were making out. Kei's hands were buried in her hair.
Between kisses, Tobio would mutter a quick 'So pretty,' and 'I'm so lucky.' She was soon moving to nip at Keis earlobe before moving to her neck.
"Tobio, please no more marks." Kei begged, her voice whinny and desperate.
"How else will people know that you're taken?" Tobio asked. "Especially when you look this good. Someone is gonna try and steal you from me." She responded before getting back to work.
"We have to leave soon though, your gonna get me all worked up before practice!" Kei whined out. She wasn't usually so whinny, but Tobio just does that to her, she guesses.
"Oh, you're no fun." Tobio complained. She moved away from Kei's neck and instead started moving her hands up and down Kei's sides.
Kei moved her hands from Tobios hair and down to her shoulders. "I'm glad you like my hair, even if its ina weird preverted way." Kei tells her.
"It's not perverted. It's totally normal to feel like this." Tobio argued. "You just look so good with your hajr like this."
"Well, enjoy it later, we have to go to practice." Kei told her, but she didn't try to move. A small part wanted to ditch practice and just ride her girlfriends strap all night, but that's irresponsible or whatever.
"Okay," Tobio sighed out. "Let's go, I guess." She says it like volleyball isn't her whole life, next to Kei.
During practice, Kei was bombarded with more comments on her hair. Which before, would have irritated her, but she got plenty of reassurance from Tobio that maybe her hair wasn't awful.
"Mom! I think I can wait a little before getting a new straightener." Kei said when she got home
"Really!? What changed your mind?" Her mom asked.
"Oh, nothing."
