Chapter Text
SOURCES
Basically, this whole plot outline is a mish-mash of all the asoryuu roleswap crumbs I could find on here and Tumblr, and me trying to satisfy my own itch to see the whole story through. Gotta credit everyone though teehee
The OG
- OnceAndFloral for like the basis of everything (Ryunosuke as an intended Watson-type, as the masked disciple who only sees himself as a tool).
- You should probably read their entire asoryuu roleswap series first. Trust me, it's very good. (i mean just look at me, i got hit with the 41 page brainrot
- There are a few scenes in the outline that might feel barebones or lacking context. It’s probably because I wrote them with the above author’s fics in mind. I didn’t exactly want to retell those fics here, so you could say this whole doc is an accompanying piece to the above.
Tumblr
- @/maskedchip for asoryuu character designs (the first designs for both ryuu and kazuma are what i kept in mind for the outline)
- @/midnigtartist for post-game Susato design (she is very cute)
- @/pyritewitch for how Herlock Sholmes acts during changes in 1-2
Ao3
- tirralirra for Kazuma’s motivations in relation to his bond with Ryunosuke, and how this would affect his arc
- daggar for Kazuma’s trust issues
- hackercatz (beherrscht) for the idea of Barok and Kazuma having a “I hate you personally but respect you as a lawyer” kinda rivalry, and also the “Kazuma cuts Barok’s wine bottles in court” gag
- RisingSunBlues76 for some maskedRyuu and Barok dynamic ideas
- StarburstGalexy for the idea of Barok and Ryuu doing the stupid funny wine bottle trick in court
DESIGN STUFF…
- Imagine Kazuma still wears the red bandana instead of the goggles
- Ryuu, fresh off the boat, initially wore just shirtsleeve and braces (suspenders)
- Bro in Japan… the defence lawyer armband is red… and the prosecutor armband is blue… bro what does it mean…
PREFACE
In canon, Ryunosuke is set up to be a Watson / Nick Carraway type of protagonist: one who narrates, but is not who the story is about. But then, the narrative thrusts him into the role of the main character. Here, he’s forcibly removed from the narrative, and now, Kazuma is forced to narrate his own journey, robbed of his Watson.
