Chapter Text

Fraternal admonition,

penned by His Majesty the Emperor of the sun-blessed Empire of Orr, descendant of the most benevolent Light of the Empire, revered blood of the Sun God, Keilusa la Orr,

in the eighth year of his glorious reign,

addressed to his brother, His Grace the Duke of Peletta, descendant of the most benevolent Light of the Empire, revered blood of the Sun God, Kishiar la Orr.

To our most beloved brother, raised alongside ourselves by decree of our Lord Father, His Majesty the Emperor of the sun-blessed Empire of Orr, we seek to bestow upon you the wisdom of your elder, in the most certain confidence that you, who has been the brightest star among the imperial princes to this day, will utilize this knowledge to reign as virtuous as intended. We do not presume you require instruction as a naïve child, and hope you will read our words as the care of a benevolent older brother wishing to leave you words to consult when you find yourself in conflict.

As a first ordinance, we will remind you that you are particularly blessed by the most holy light of the celestial existence, and have been chosen to wield the divine sword of our grand ancestor. As the Sun God has deemed your heart pure and your disposition righteous, we ask of you to follow the convictions of the scripture and draw the divine sword in justifiable service in protection of this exalted Empire as it was intended by divine benevolence.

Thus we ask you to consult the sacred scripture as the sun rises and as it sets, and to pray for the eternal wisdom of our forefathers in all your decisions. Your prayers, which you must keep obedient and under the purview of the consideration of the priests, have to offer grace and benediction for these words are the credit upon which the divine sun has elected you to serve their most holy purpose.

As you keep your mind clear and free of any temptation, we remind you to honor the body you have been granted by our beatified parents. With grand care, you must not sin against its nature and allow conflicting forces within to destroy this vessel. It is imperative that you do not allow drunkenness to cloud your mind and sway your decisions, or sickness to captivate the full possibilities of your actions. The weight of responsibility may attempt to crush you, but you must withstand any attempts of flimsy escapes or indulgences in unsavory practices. Those who dare to risk even a single moment of lowered inhibitions, risk foreign influences attempting to direct your choices as though they are within a realm allowing them to cross such boundaries.

Next, we want to remind you to treasure those the closest and most loyal to you, but to remain wary of anyone singing your praise undeservedly to sway your temperament in their favor. In our position, we cannot allow our judgment to be anything but the lawful execution of the imperial will. Those deemed to harbor any ill-will against the innate order of powers, must be treated swiftly before they rise to a greater station of harm. Similarly, you must honestly reward those you never fail to uphold the morals and values as divined by divine messenger Orhe, to lead us onto a bright path in the sun. As we have been named in such importance, it is our obligation to serve the people we have been sworn to protect against their own faults as much as against foreign threats. The citizens of this esteemed empire have been entrusted to us, so foremost it is their prosperity that has to be ensured for a monarch, who rules in gold, must have no servants intimately familiar with the dirt of abyssal origins. If the empire hungers, its monarch must be starving, and if the emperor can eat the fruits of a rich harvest, he must return tenfold to his subjects.

If you take our words to heart, reflecting on these thoughts will lead you to grander consideration of the nature of a monarch.

Therefore, we will impress upon you the importance of the words of the divine messenger Orhe, as recalled in the Testament of Faith, Chapter 3, Verse 98, “Light does not change direction, and darkness comes to all. Amidst all fears, believe in those who forge ahead.”

I have the utmost faith in you, my dear brother, to be the Light guiding the Empire in my spirit through the darkness.
