Michelle's Disappearing Act

Summary:

Stella Allen goes to school as she would usually, but she finds out that the student council president is missing. :)

Notes:

I got the idea in the morning, wrote it in school and finished it(wrote it on here) at home. My English teacher also asked about it, so I gave her a quick summary.😗 This is from Stella's point of view, that's why the harsh judgment on Céline and others.

Work Text:

Stella's morning went like usual, she woke up, cleaned her teeth, brushed her hair, put on her uniform, ate breakfast and spent the last few minutes rechecking her plan for the day. After everything was done, she went to school as she would on any other day. When she arrived though, something was off, Michelle was not waiting for her outside of the school. The pigtailed girl liked to be the first one to greet Stella for her own weird reasons, but today no one was there.

Maybe she's running late? Despite the unusualness of the situation, Stella shrugs it off as simply a one time occurrence. She heads over to her first class which unfortunately Michelle didn't attend. But a different council member did, Lucy Keller, and she just also happens to be their student council president's best friend. If anyone knows where the girl is, it's Lucy. Stella enters the classroom and immediately spots the incredibly short girl in the corner, looking out of the window at students that are passing by.

Instead of going to her usual seat in the front, Stella makes her way to the back of the classroom and sits down next to Lucy. She turns to look at the blonde girl and clears her throat to get her attention. „Keller, did you happen to see the president today?“ she asks in hopes of figuring out this little mystery.

Lucy turns to look at her, raising an eyebrow. „The prez? No, I haven't seen her,“ the girl chuckles as if the disappearance of a person was funny. „I mean, it's not like I see her normally either,“ Lucy adds, her laugh quieting, „I don't have any classes with her and when she isn't attending those, she's with you or doing her own crazy shit.“

„Ah- well, I appreciate your help anyway,“ Stella says, slightly disappointed. The short girl just laughs and turns back around to watch people from the window. Well, that was pointless. Stella sighs and takes out her notebook along with a pen, because the teacher just entered the classroom. I just hope Michelle's okay.

She couldn't stop thinking about her dear president for the rest of the class, causing her to be less productive than she would be normally. What if Michelle was sick? What if she was dying somewhere or even worse skipping? What if Stella saw her for the last time yesterday? What if the girl started despising her and never wished to speak to her again? Those were the thoughts racing through her head. Then the bell rang and she thankfully snapped out of it. She took her things and rushed out of the room with the goal of trying to find Michelle. She spent a few minutes walking around the school, but eventually went to her next class. Michelle normally attends this class with her, so she should be there, but to her utter disappointment the girl's seat was empty.

She's been fairly calm until now, but the blue-eyed girl's absence is starting to make her quite worried. For any other person, this would be completely understandable, but Michelle never missed school and if she did she told Stella beforehand. The girl never got sick either- which was strange. President, where are you?  Stella makes her way to her desk in the front, of course, no annoying council members in sight. The teacher walks in and the lesson starts.

Despite the constant thoughts about the president, she makes it to the end of the class just fine. When the bell rings though, she gets up and walks right up to the teacher. „Sir, do you perhaps know the reason of Michelle's absence?“ Stella isn't used to reffering to the girl by her name, but she feels this is more appropriate than 'president' considering the situation.

Her worry increases when the teacher shakes his head: „No, Stella. I fear, I do not.“ He has a completely stoic expression as if this was a normal occurrence or even a bother to him. He gives her one last look before turning back to his computer: „If that's all, I'd advise you to leave. Your next class should be starting soon.“ Stella sighs, but leaves the classroom anyway.

The 3rd and 4th period went by without any signs of Michelle, so she most likely isn't in the school after all. God, she really hoped the girl was okay. She was definitely going to the president's house after school. Wait, today's the council meeting! Should I cancel it? No, it's too late for that and maybe Michelle will come by for it?

She was walking to her next class, head full of potentional scenarios Michelle could've gotten into, all ending in disasters. When suddenly, she bumps into someone and fails to keep her balance, causing her to fall to the ground. She looks up only to see probably the most annoying council member of them all and her short loyal shadow that follows her everywhere, Céline Degée and her girlfriend, Esther Levine. Stella couldn't have ran into anyone more obnoxious and full of themselves than the tall girl standing right in front of her. Céline offers her a perfectly manicured hand, but Stella refuses to take it. Too stubborn. She instead gets up on her own, fixing the skirt of her uniform after she does so.

The white-haired council member just chuckles, Esther is standing slightly behind her, but still enough to the side for Stella to see the girl rolling her eyes. Geez, that girl's like a dog. Any disrespect to their owner and they bark and bite. She even has that stupid collar, honestly- why? „What's going on with you, vice-president? I never thought you could be so clumsy,“ Céline immediately makes fun of her, of course. Why wouldn't she?

Stella gets up, narrows her eyes and scoffs: „I could say the same for you, Degée.“ If the white-haired witch could do it, she could too. I mean, after all, Céline probably wasn't paying attention while walking either. If she were, she'd move out of the way...right? Before Esther can yell at her for the remark, Stella asks: „Where are you two heading anyway? You have P.E and the last time I checked, the class was that-a-way.“ She points in the opposite direction of where the pair was going.

„Well, the bathroom, of course. Do you think I'd waste my time on something as pathetic as P.E?“ Céline explains with her usual smile that just screams 'evil'.

„Funny way to say you're lazy,“ Stella says, unbothered by Esther's constant glare. „Or do you just suck at sports?“ she decides to pull on the shorter girl's nerves a little more by insulting the white-haired girl even more.

„Oh, please. Céline's incredible at everything she does. You couldn't stand a chance against her.“ Ah, yes. Here it is, the dog has spoken. A little tamer than I thought though, I expected yelling...or biting even.

„Right...did you see the president by chance though? I can't find her anywhere,“ she asks, hoping that these two have infact seen her beloved president.

„No, why?“ Esther immediately answers, crossing her arms over her non-existent chest...flat- I mean flat. „Do you miss your little troublemaker girlfriend, perhaps?“ the girl adds, her smile matching the one that Céline usually wears. The nerve of that midget was unbelievable! To insinuate her relationship with Michelle is anything more than professional...what a joke! This girl was below her, a girl that follows her girlfriend around like a lost puppy, yet she had the need to disrespect her in such a way. Not to mention, the president! Oh, what would the president think? Esther should be ashamed of herself.

„No, I simply worry that she won't be able to attend the meeting, that is all,“ Stella answers, plainly. „Perhaps, you should mind your own business or I won't hesitate and report you two. I'm sure my mother would be interested to know that a pair of her students skip classes to go make out in the bathroom stalls,“ she walks past them, heading to the class she was probably already late to, but then decides to stop. „Yes, I do infact know about that. Lucy told me few weeks ago,“ she says, turning around to face them.

Neither of their expressions change, Céline still has that annoying smirk on her face and Esther seems to be completely unfazed. „I never knew your mother was interested in the intimate relations between her students?“ the white-haired girl says, that awful laugh escaping her lips.

...

„You two are pathetic, literally pathetic,“ she saying, a visible frown on her face as she turns to leave. She hears the pair trying not to laugh, but she ignores it and speed walks to her class.

The 5th and 6th period went by fine aside from the fact she arrived late for both of them. The 7th and last period of the day though...not so great. As Stella entered the class, to her horror, she saw that one theatre girl, sitting in Michelle's seat. How dare she? She has no respect for her superiors, it seems. As one would, Stella makes her way over to the absolutely foolish girl, clearing her throat for the second time today, in order to make her presence known. The girl looks up at her, clearly too dumb to even comprehend that somebody important is standing infront of her. At least, that's what Stella thinks from the seemingly unbothered look on her face. „What?“ the pink-haired girl asks.

„This is the student council president's seat. Go sit somewhere else, “ Stella says, harshly.

„Well, I don't see her anywhere. I'm sure she's fine with me sitting here for a day or two.“

...

That was it. Stella couldn't believe this girl. The disrespect! She was about to snap at her, but the teacher came in. Defeated, she walked to her desk and took a seat. The lesson went on and unfortunately, Stella wasn't able to give that stupid girl death glares to indicate how much she fucked up, because the girl was sitting two seats behind her. She would have to turn around, but that would be awkward. When the bell rang again, she grabbed her stuff and turned around. She was about to give this girl a piece of her mind, but the girl already left. She took too long and now she had to pay the price.

Stella sighs and leaves the classroom. She has a lot of time on her hands before the meeting starts, but not enough to walk all across town to Michelle's house, so she decides to call her instead. She takes out her phone from her bag and dials the number. She puts the phone to her ear and waits. No one picks up, so she tries again and again and again and eventually, somebody does indeed pick up: „Hello?“ But it's not Michelle, it's her father.

„Oh, hello, Mr. Madden. Is Michelle home?“ she asks, hoping that she infact is.

„Michelle? No, she's at school...or is she not?“ he asks from the other side of the phone as confused as she was.

„No, she isn't. I don't wish to scare you, sir. But I think something happened,“ she pauses, realizing her fears might come true. „And no offense, I know you're a police officer, but maybe we should call the police anyway?“ There's complete silence for a long while and then finally: „I agree. Thank you for telling me this, Stella.“ Then he hangs up.

Since there was nothing more Stella could do, she returned to her normal routine, awaiting the upcoming council meeting. Then it finally comes, she returns to the school, heading towards the council room. As expected, Sienna Axton was already there. Though Michelle, once again, was nowhere to be seen. Stella takes her seat and gets everything ready, waiting for the rest of the council with Sienna in silence.

At the last minute, the door bursts open and every single member of the council enters. Lucy walks in, completely ignoring her surroundings and playing a game on her phone. Behind her are the two lovebirds, not that Esther is an actual council member, but Céline drags her everywhere. And the last person to enter is Altair with a dumb grin on his face. Everything's as it is normally, except the president's missing.

Stella sighs and stands up, everyone already seated. „Now that we're all here, the meeting shall begin,“ she announces and starts going through her binder.

„All here? The prez isn't,“ Lucy says, not bothering to look up from the phone.

...

„I'm afraid the president won't be attending the meeting today. She's missing.“

Silence.

„Missing? What do you mean?“ Sienna asks, raising an eyebrow.

„I mean, that no one can find her. The police is already involved, so do not fear for her,“ Stella says, trying to sound professional, despite the obvious worry in her voice.

Silence again.

„That sounds serious. I hope she's alright,“ Altair says after a while.

„I hope so too. I'm sure we all do,“ Stella says, quickly looking at the pair of girls who still haven't said anything. Suspicious.

„Let's get back to the meeting, shall we?“ she says, reading through the binder. Then she notices: „Huh, this is what we discussed last week.“ She thinks for a moment and then a realization hits her. „Oh, yes. I must've misplaced it yesterday. I was cleaning out the cabinets,“ she turns around to look at the exact cabinet she might've put it in. She makes her way over to it, kneels down and opens it.

Suddenly- to her complete shock, she sees Michelle crammed in there, a usual smile on the blue lips. Stella's eyes widen in shock as everyone else's does. Well, at least Altair's. Sienna only raised an eyebrow, Lucy is full on laughing to the point where she almost fell from her chair, Céline is trying to stop herself from laughing and Esther seems to not give a shit, focusing on the white-haired girl instead.

Michelle opens her eyes to see Stella, she smiles wider. „Congrats, you found me!“ she says, giving Stella a thumbs up.

„Found you?“ Sienna asks instead of Stella, because the girl is still absolutely flabbergasted.

„Yes. I've been hiding from you all and was expecting someone to find me. You know- like Hide & Seek!“ Michelle says, clasping her hands together.

„This is hilarious,“ Céline says, holding a hand to her mouth to prevent herself from laughing.

„You mean 'incredibly stupid'! What if no one found her!?“ Stella says, finally snapping out of it.

„Oh, I was prepared for that. Céline and her humanoid thing knew,“ Michelle says as she tries to get out of the cabinet. Céline's giggling in the background just confirms this. Of course, they did. They're both absolute liars.

Stella helps Michelle get out, helping her to her feet. Once the stuco president is free, she immediately walks over to one of the drawers, opens it and pulls out a gold trophy. She skips back to Stella and pushes the trophy into her hands. „Since you won, here's your price.“

„Thank you, president. But was this really necessary?“ Stella asks, now relieved that the president is alive and well.

Michelle tilts her head in confusion: „Of course, it is. You found me, you should get your price.“

„Oh- I meant, this whole hiding thing. All you did was get me worried,“ Stella clarifies.

„Well, I was bored, so yes. It was necessary,“ Michelle nods. To her this was a success.

...

„Oh, shoot! YOUR FATHER CALLED THE POLICE!“

Oriana is not really an important character in the actual story, but she will play important roles in these side stories. (She's the girl who sat in Michelle's seat by the way.) Also, love Césther🤍❤️- literally the best ship.😝
