Notes:

!!! WARNING !!! Contains REFERENCES to dark topics such as forced pregnancy, twisted laws (abuse of authority), rape/non-con (including underage), dystopian society, destroying Women's Rights, destroying medical privacy, destroying freedoms, victim blaming, gaslighting and religious hypocrisy (namely Christian).

Seek help if you can if you are suffering from any of these conditions or injustices. I know it's made a hundred times harder with some states torturing their civilians with dystopian laws that have no medical basis in those decisions, but don't give in. You are loved and you are not a criminal (even if they pretend you are) for your personal biology and freedoms. Pregnancy is a medical condition: Most of the world acknowledges that. Miscarriages happen. Child death happens after birth sometimes due to complications or development issues. It's horrible but not criminal. History proves this over and over again. Please build a more compassionate world for the living.

Raven's mother was a victim. The blame does not fall on Raven or her mother, but the father and the stigma attached. This is fictional, but just as powerful, and even more horrific knowing it happens in real life... not through demons, but through the evil acts of predatory people.

Work Text:

My Mom Was A Victim Too

I look today at a sick America. My home. The place I and the Teen Titans have defended. The place where other heroes have gathered to fend for justice for all! Where humans obviously need help because they are led so easily astray.

I see a sick America, somewhere I used to be proud of, taken over by greed, lust and sexual perversion. Bowing to the villains we fight against every day and punishing the innocent who only ask for help.

I see a Third World Country and poverty where there should be none. Where the Land of the Free has been gaslit to believe that voters against bettering healthcare and working rights are somehow helping you? A lawmaker blocking legislation that could improve your life is a vote against America. A Nation founded on freedom and justice for all is being delivered straight to Hell by traitors determined to put guns over safety, to put their wealth over your quality of life, and to elevate criminals over justice.

I see young girls forced into marriage. Forced to bear children they are not ready for because they are children themselves. That shouldn’t be America, but it is.

I see women like my mother bear a child they never asked for at the risk of their own life.

Last time I checked, America, rape is a CRIME! Even in the Bible you allegedly cling to. (There should be a clear separation of church and state, by the way. Tyranny isn’t cool.)

Oh? You think I’ll CRY if my mother COULD have had me aborted? No! I wouldn’t have known a THING! In the womb we are cells. But the mother, MY mother, has to live with trauma from forced sex. The trauma of pregnancy that CAN kill. The trauma of childbirth that CAN kill. The risk of infection during and after birth that CAN kill! The trauma of all the psychological damage caused by the fiendish act and the stigma of bearing a child at all.

No.

I am SICK of seeing my country bowing to demonic ideologies. My Mom was a victim too! My father is a literal demon who raped my mother! But it doesn’t take a literal demon to enact evil.

I am a teenager and the thought of bearing a child sickens me. A forced pregnancy would be Hell. And yet there are girls WAY younger than I in this situation vilified and DENIED help.

Denied healthcare.

Denied JUSTICE.

America is sick. Yet I will still stand for justice. Freedom for the good, not the evil.

Reject this dystopia. Treat ALL people as people and make the punishment fit the crime. For too long I see greed and corruption rot our great country away. I see false patriots cling to our flag like a shield as they laugh at the pain of others and shred the Constitution with their bigoted ways.

I might be half-demon, but I’m more human than a LOT of you!

At least I CARE.

America isn’t terminal… yet. Don’t let it be.

The real heroes protect the vulnerable, help the sick, hold cruelty and criminality accountable no matter their status, and offer kindness every day regardless of background, religion or sexuality. (Isn’t that in your Bible too?)

Don’t let evil guide you to Hell. Don’t elevate demons like my father.

I see America bleeding.

Heal by being a better person.

Heal it by stopping to be compassionate for one second!

My mother did her best for me.

My mother didn’t deserve what happened to her.

No one should suffer like that today. Not when help SHOULD be available but it’s denied anyway.

A mother’s decision should be hers alone with a compassionate medical practitioner. Get the perverts and politicians out of MEDICAL decisions! FOREVER!

I want a healthier America. You should too where compassion prevails and cruelty is shunned, not the other way around.

I am Raven, the child of a rape victim. Condemn me or my mother for a choice NEITHER of us got to make and feel my WRATH!

No victim should be shamed.

No victim should be hounded or exiled.

No victim should be punished!

Oh? And is someone on trial for these crimes of sexual assault? Are they lashing out instead of proving their innocence in a court of law with actual evidence? The one on trial has a chance to prove their innocence or their guilt. Biological physiology is not a crime.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Notes:

Author's Note: If you're not horrified by the disgusting treatment of women, children and literally any human being under cruel laws that protect criminals and punish the vulnerable because of a warped view of the Bible... maybe get yourself checked into a psychiatrist's office to see if you lack empathy. I have no sympathy for people who advocate cruel and unusual punishment towards people in need. If you claim to be pro-life, protect those already living, and stay out of the doctor's office of pregnant women, you predators. Give women back their autonomy and privacy. Give CHILDREN back their autonomy and privacy. And hold RAPISTS accountable, don't punish the victims!

I'd apologise for the rant, but not this time. It's too present day and beyond comprehension that this is occurring in the 21st Century in a so-called democracy. Denial of available care is wilful ignorance, preventing travel for care is false/unlawful imprisonment, forcing any woman (or young girl) to carry a child to term even if medically invalid or unsafe to do so is straight-up negligence and torture and it can lead to a preventable death. A mother is not a criminal for simply being pregnant, suffering a miscarriage or needing a SAFE abortion whether the child was planned or not. Denying contraceptives as an option is just as evil. That is between her and her qualified compassionate medical practitioner alone. If you claim to be on the side of God, victim blaming someone when they're already suffering is pretty much a sin, fyi. How can you call yourself American on the side of freedom when you want to rob someone of their freedom of choice and medical aid? I know this happens elsewhere in the world, but America has really dropped the ball here. It's dystopian and unacceptable.

Be kinder to one another. Don't lose your humanity trying to de-humanise someone else for something that doesn't affect you personally (and that applies to more than just Women's Rights).

P.S. I will apologise for rambling. :) It's because I care. I hate seeing people suffer when there is no just cause. No, I'm not a qualified medical professional in any way, which is why it's important that people with no medical basis are not allowed to insert themselves in making laws about medical conditions. It won't kill you to show compassion. But failing to offer aid to those in need can kill, and toxic ideologies are no excuse for neglecting someone who needs help. Respect the mother. Respect the children. Respect humankind. Respect boundaries. Be a good human being, for crying out loud! It's not hard. And if you are reading this with a compassionate view, thank you for being open-minded and just as passionate about this social injustice. Vulnerable people need protecting, not to be bullied!

P.P.S. I was in two minds on whether to post this story with my venting above included, but I'm not American myself and I've decided I'm not going to cower. I've not mentioned any names or specific places as this is still a fictional story and my comments are reasonable given the situation. America, be strong. I know that most of you do not want these laws, or soon-to-be dystopian laws forced on you. Don't let bullies win.
