At four in the morning, the sound of the door opening startled Park Dohyeon awake. Groggy, he blinked his eyes open to see a drunken Han Wangho leaning against the door. With a sigh, Dohyeon sat up and switched on the light. The harsh white light illuminated Wangho's flushed face, red from the alcohol.

Wangho wavered for a moment, leaning against the door, before collapsing to the floor, clutching his face. His body trembled like a kitten just pulled from the water.

In this small dorm room, Park Dohyeon could sense something was terribly wrong with Wangho. Just last night, he'd seen Wangho meticulously dressing up before leaving the dorm, only to return in this sorry state. Pushing aside his blanket, Dohyeon got up and approached him. The closer he got, the more aware Wangho became of his surroundings, lifting his tear-streaked face to look at Dohyeon. Under the light, Dohyeon could clearly see the tears streaming down his roommate's face, freezing him in place.

"What's wrong, Wangho?" Dohyeon asked gently, sitting beside him and rubbing his bony back, his eyes filled with concern.

"Hic... Dohyeon, they abandoned me," Wangho sobbed, clutching Dohyeon's shirt and burying his face into his chest. His tears soaked through, wetting a large part of Dohyeon's shirt, but Wangho didn't realize how his complaints were tearing Dohyeon apart inside.

That was Park Dohyeon...

He kept comforting Wangho until the silence of the room became oppressive. Only then did he dare to lift Wangho's tear-streaked face to look at him. Clumsily, Dohyeon used his calloused hands to wipe away Wangho's tears. In his hazy state, Wangho suddenly gripped Dohyeon's wrist and asked, "Dohyeon, can I ask you something?"

"What do you want to ask?"

"Do you like me?" Wangho's eyes sparkled with unshed tears, but they also held a fierce determination, an urge to retaliate against Lee Sanghyeok.

"What do you mean, do you think I'm beautiful? Do you like me? Or do you like anyo-"

"You're drunk!" Dohyeon cut him off, even though he knew the answer to the question in his heart. He didn't want Wangho to make any rash decisions in his drunken state.

"You're drunk, go to bed. We'll talk tomorrow."

Like an upset child, Wangho grumbled and held Dohyeon's face close, his breath warm and tinged with the strong scent of strawberry soju.

"No, Dohyeon, I'm not... drunk. I'm still very clear-headed."

"But..."

Before Dohyeon could finish his sentence, Wangho pulled him in and kissed him, completely losing control. His drunken state had stripped him of all reason, and he kissed his younger roommate passionately. The sudden move made Dohyeon’s eyes widen as he accepted Wangho’s gentle kiss, something he'd longed for, but never like this.

Snapping out of his daze, Dohyeon pushed Wangho away, separating them. Wangho, rejected, seemed taken aback, his breath hitching in the silence.

"Get a hold of yourself, Wangho." Dohyeon gently slapped his flushed cheek, but the impact wasn't enough to snap him out of it.

Strangely, at that moment, Dohyeon caught a whiff of sweet strawberries, reminiscent of those he'd tasted as a child. The scent was coming from Wangho. He stepped back, trying to escape the intoxicating aroma, but couldn't hold his breath for long. Realizing his mistake, he hurried to turn on the air conditioner, hoping to disperse the scent, but it only made it worse, spreading the pheromones throughout the room.

By the time he realized it, it was too late. The Omega’s pheromones were overwhelming, wrapping around him, stirring fear of losing control. He didn't want to do anything improper to Wangho, knowing that Wangho had always loved Lee Sanghyeok.

As the scent filled the room, Dohyeon decided to leave and sleep on the sofa, giving Wangho the space he needed. But just as he reached the door, he felt a warm embrace from behind, stopping him in his tracks. He intended to turn around, but Wangho's arms tightened around his waist, holding him close.

"Damn it," Dohyeon cursed under his breath. How could he maintain his composure with Wangho clinging to him like this? He sighed heavily and warned, "You should stay away from me. I'm an Alpha, you know."

His deep voice trembled with suppressed discomfort, but Wangho, seemingly oblivious, held on tighter, murmuring, "It's okay."

Dohyeon couldn't understand what Wangho was thinking. Wasn't he in love with Lee Sanghyeok? Why did he ask Dohyeon to move in if he was an Alpha? An Alpha and an Omega living together was risky. Proximity could lead to unintended consequences.

"Don't tease me like this. I don't like it," Dohyeon said, closing his eyes and speaking his truth.

If you can't love me properly, don't be close to me. I don't want to be a placeholder between you and him.

"Do you not like me? I'm beautiful, right? Or do you think I'm old, not as attractive as others?"

"That's not it..." Dohyeon hesitated, not wanting to admit he didn't want to be the third wheel in Wangho’s love story. He had loved Wangho for a long time, since the day they met at Son Siwoo’s birthday party. It was love at first sight.

But Siwoo had warned him to stay away from Wangho, who had a protective guardian—Lee Sanghyeok, the legendary gamer. Dohyeon had no chance against someone like that.

What did Dohyeon have? Nothing. He was just a latecomer in Wangho's life, forever overshadowed by the man who had held Wangho's heart for seven years.

Lee Sanghyeok had everything Dohyeon desired, including Wangho's heart.

Park Dohyeon had nothing.
