Kraang Soup (pretty in blue)

Summary:

Who said makeup is only for girls? Raph. Raph said that. But that's not going to stop Blue, Purple, and Karai from giving everybody makeovers!

(set at some point after chapter 29 of the main fic)

EDIT: I added a picture :)

Notes:

Hi! So… somebody reported one of my DNI tags as harassment cause of how I worded it, and so Kraang Soup and another one of my fics are on lockdown for a few days. I didn’t want to miss Kraang Soup’s update deadline, but… Yeah. So, I’ve got this instead of the main plot this week. If I did my math right, Kraang Soup should be unhidden by Monday!

This one-shot was inspired by a comment by Shiver_Mint on chapter 26, and is set at some point after chapter 29, although I’m not quite sure when. Thanks for the idea!

Edit: It took a little longer than I expected for it to come back, but the main Kraang Soup is officially unhidden!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Ugh… I’m so BORED!”

Mikey looked up at Blue’s loud complaint. All of the turtles, plus Karai, were hanging around the living room. Mikey was sitting with Leo on the floor in front of the TV, as usual. Raph was on the cushions in the pit, his face buried in a comic book. Donnie and Purple were playing with little bits of wire and metal, probably building some cool thingamabob. Karai was digging around in the backpack she had found to hold her stuff. And Blue was laying upside down on the edge of the pit, mask tails pooling on the floor above his head. (Underneath his head?)

“Maybe you should do something about that,” Karai said, not looking up from whatever was in her bag.

Blue puffed out his cheeks and slid down so he was mostly on the floor. “But I don’t know what I wanna DO!” He glanced over at the human girl, “What’re you doing?”

“Trying to find my lip gloss.”

Blue was suddenly sitting upright, leaning forward excitedly, “OH! I have an IDEA!”

Purple looked up and narrowed his eyes suspiciously.

“What is it?” Mikey asked. Blue always had fun ideas.

Blue looked around at everyone else, a smile stretching across his face as he held out his arms dramatically, “Makeovers!”

Makeovers? That sounded really fun! It’d be like those people on the TV when they had sleepovers, and talked about nice things, and painted each others nails, and did face masks, and- and!

“Oh,” Purple relaxed and fiddled with whatever tech thingie he was working on. “That’s fine then. Usually that sentence out of your mouth is cause for concern.”

Leo looked away from the TV, frowning in confusion, “Makeovers?”

Blue nodded happily, “Yeah! We’ll need to get some stuff for it, but it’ll be fun!”

Raph lowered his comic and scowled at Blue, “Isn’t makeup and stuff like that for girls?

Aw man! Mikey deflated. Thinking back, the people doing the makeovers in the shows were all girls. It was so unfair!

Purple didn’t look up from their work as they spoke up in a monotone voice, “The idea that what you can or cannot do is based upon what sex you were assigned at birth is propaganda perpetrated by antiquated fossils of a bygone era. Gender is meaningless and the system is rigged.” He looked up to stare blankly at Raph, “We will need to do something about your internalized toxic masculinity.”

Raph spluttered, unable to come up with a response that made any sense.

“Can I join?” Mikey asked.

Blue beamed at him, “Of course! Wanna help me steal- er- borrow stuff?”

Leo frowned, “We shouldn’t be stealing unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t think-“

“I’ll help,” Karai offered.

Leo looked at her, betrayed. “KARAI!

“What?” Karai glanced at Leo. “It could be fun. Besides, you need to lighten up, Leo. You break the law all the time. Being a vigilante isn’t exactly legal.

Leo stuttered, “I- That’s not- That’s totally different!”

“Is it though?” Karai smirked.

Donnie raised a finger, “We also technically steal water and electricity.”

“Come on, Leo!” Mikey wrapped an arm around his blue brother’s shell. “It’ll be fun!”

Leo still looked hesitant. Hmm. Welp, time to pull out the big guns. Mikey’s puppy-dog-eyes made Leo’s resolve crumble almost instantly, and he sighed in defeat.

“Yes!” Mikey cheered. “LET’S GO STEAL!”

“YEAH!” Blue grabbed his katana and sliced open a bright blue portal.

“I shall accompany you as well,” Purple said, standing up and rolling his head till his neck popped.

Karai zipped up her bag and set it to the side, walking over to join the group by the portal.

Leo stood, sighing, “I guess I should come to make sure you don’t get into too much trouble.”

“You guys have fun,” Donnie waved without looking up. “I need to finish this.”

Raph scowled and buried his face in his comic again.

“Bye Donnie! Bye Raph!” Mikey waved with both hands, practically vibrating with excitement.

“Vamanos, hermanos!” Blue grinned back at them as he began stepping through the portal. “We’ve got a store to raid!”

Mikey rushed forward and leaped into the swirling blue circle, landing in a crouch on the other side. The others were close behind, and Mikey took a moment to look around. The store Blue had taken them to was very quiet. It was probably closed, which made sense. It wasn’t like they could just go and buy things like normal people. It was big too! There were rows and rows of shelves, with all sorts of things all lined up neatly and labeled with little yellow price tags stuck to the edges of the shelves. Red and white signs hung from the ceiling, letting people know what kind of things were kept where. A cartoon white dog with a red bullseye around one of its own eyes seemed to be the stores mascot. When Purple stepped through, their markings lit up and their eyes flashed brightly for a few moments, and when the glow faded to something much less noticeable, he pulled out a little metal device and set it on the ground. The doodad started to move, little spidery legs unfolding from the sides and a camera extending from the front. It scuttled away and disappeared into the rows of shelves, the tapping of its little feet fading into nothing as it went wherever it was going.

“There we go,” Purple glanced at Blue. “I made all the cameras loop, and my Robotic Optical Autonomous Covert Helper will keep an eye on the security guard for us.”

Leo raised a brow ridge, “Your R.O.A.C.H?

Purple didn’t glance his way, “Yes, my R.O.A.C.H.”

Mikey laughed, “Dude, what is it with Donnies and spy roaches?”

Purple opened their mouth to say something, but was interrupted when Blue grabbed his arm and pulled him along behind him, marching with purpose toward the section the red and white signs said was ‘Health/Beauty’.

“Come on!” Blue called over his shoulder, still dragging Purple behind him.

The rest of them followed, Karai looking amused at Blue’s antics, Leo looking nervous and resigned, and Mikey himself running around like a pinball to look at anything and everything. There were pens, and markers, and paper, and paperclips, and candles that smelled good, and plastic boxes, and weirdly shaped pillows, and- and-

Blue stopped and spread his arms, finally releasing Purple. “Ta-da!” He bowed slightly, gesturing to the shelves behind him. “Allow me to introduce you to the wonders of skincare.”

Mikey peered around him. Colorful bottles and packets of stuff Mikey couldn’t identify lined the shelves.

“Alright!” Blue turned around, hands on his hips. “First things first…” he reached for a katana and opened a portal, reaching in to pull out several bright red shopping carts.

Mikey walked over to one of the shelves, looking at all the stuff there. He reached out for a hot pink package with green letters.

“Oh, no-no-no-no-no-no-no!” Blue said, grabbing the package out of his hands and holding it pinched between his fingers like a dead mouse. “We’re reptiles, buddy. We need moisture. That clay mask will dry you up and wreak havoc on your T-zone.” He handed Mikey a yellow packet instead, “Here, this one’s better.”

Mikey blinked, “Wreak what on my what?”

Blue held up a finger to shush Mikey, bending down to his level, “Trust the process.”

Purple was off looking at some other stuff a little way away, not paying Blue any attention. Karai looked at Blue and nodded in recognition, almost reluctantly impressed.

Blue, Purple, and Karai were filling the first cart fast, and any attempts on Mikey’s part to help were gently dismissed. He glanced at Leo, who was looking at the three older teens with exasperated amusement. Mikey looked at the other carts, and back at the three makeup-crazed teens. They wouldn’t mind if he took a look at some other things, would they? He hesitated for a moment before sneaking over to the carts and grabbing two of them, dragging one behind him as he pushed the other ahead of himself. Leo watched him pass and sighed, trailing along behind Mikey as he wandered around.

Mikey was grabbing anything that caught his eye. There were pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, cooking tools, a t-shirt with a pun on it, glitter, candy, fruit, cheese, a whole bunch of frozen pizzas- Mikey stopped as he spotted something shiny. The JEWELRY SECTION! He quickly ran over, abandoning his carts in the middle of the isle. He was wearing three pairs of sunglasses, a bunch of bracelets that jingled noisily whenever he moved, and was in the middle of putting on every necklace he could get his hands on, when out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Leo staring at something, transfixed. He turned his head to look at his brother-in-blue, and saw that the thing that had caught Leo’s attention was a pair of earrings. They were silver with blue stones of some sort. Leo hadn’t noticed Mikey looking at him, still staring at the earrings.

Mikey snuck up behind him and said, “Ooooh, those are nice!”

Leo jumped and spun around to face him, eyes wide, “MIKEY!”

Mikey started laughing, hugging himself and bending over double as his laughter rattled the jewelry he was wearing. “Oh dude! You should see your face! HAHA! Oh man, I got you good!”

Leo crossed his arms and his shoulders hunched in embarrassment. He glanced to the side, and if turtles could blush, he would be redder then Raph’s mask.

Mikey straightened up, still chuckling a little, “But seriously dude, those look awesome!”

Leo looked back at the earrings and nodded a bit shyly.

Mikey cocked his head, “Do you wanna take ‘em?”

Leo looked back at him with wide eyes and stuttered, “Wha- I- I couldn’t-“

Mikey grabbed his shoulders and looked at him with mock seriousness, “Leo. My dude. My bro. If you don’t take them yourself I’m going to.”

Leo’s eyes flicked back to the earrings and he swallowed, before reaching out to take them off the hook they were hanging on almost reverently.

Mikey beamed and sped away to find more necklaces, jingling loudly. A few minutes later, Blue, Purple, and Karai rounded a corner with two carts full of stuff and spotted Leo and Mikey in the jewelry section.

“There you are!” Blue grinned when he saw them. Specifically, when he saw Mikey and the frankly absurd amount of jewelry the orange bandana-ed turtle was wearing.

“GUYS!” Mikey ran over, sounding like a can full of coins being shaken violently.

Karai started laughing, “He’s like a cat with a bell!”

Purple shrugged, “It’s a corporate chain store. If he want’s the jewelry, I say let him have it.”

Mikey pumped his fist and did a little victory dance.

Blue drew a katana and glanced around, “Alright, ready?”

“Hang on,” Purple’s markings lit up again and a few minutes later the R.O.A.C.H. came skittering toward them. He bent down to pick it up, and tucked it away in their Battle-shell. “Alright. Ready. Let’s go.”

Blue opened a portal with a twirl of his katana, and the group stepped through, pushing their carts full of stolen goods ahead of them. As the portal whooshed closed behind them, Donnie looked up and did a double take when he saw them.

He looked to Leo for answers, “Wha- What happened to keeping them out of trouble?!”

Leo shrugged, walking forward to flop onto the cushions lining the edge of the pit, “All I know is Mikey filled two carts all on his own.”

Raph stalked in from the direction of his room, looking mad at the world. When he spotted Mikey, he stopped dead in his tracks.

“What the-“

“QUICK PURPLE, GET HIM!” Blue shrieked.

Purple dashed forward, markings lighting up as they activated their Ninpō. Raph yelped and turned to run, but Purple slammed into him and the two of them went rolling across the floor. They came to a stop with Purple crouched on Raph’s shell, and the softshell used his Ninpō to secure the shorter turtles arms and legs.

“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Raph shouted, struggling in vain to try to escape.

“You’re not getting out of makeovers, hermanito,” Blue said, walking over to loom above Raph.

Raph growled and struggled some more, but couldn’t get away. Blue went back to the carts and grabbed a length of rope, then walked back over to Raph and Purple, and helped his twin start tying the shorter turtle up.

“LEMME OUT!” Raph shouted. “I SWEAR I’M GONNA-“

“What is going on out here?”

Everybody froze and turned to look at Master Splinter.

“Don’t worry about it~” Blue tried. “We’re just having some fun.”

Sensei turned to look at Leo. “Is this true, my son?”

“NO!” Raph shouted angrily.

“Yes, Master Splinter.” Leo smiled mischievously.

Sensei stroked his beard and hummed, considering for a moment, then he turned back to the dojo. “Very well then. I will be in the dojo if you need me.”

“Hai, Sensei.” Leo said.

Raph stared after Master Splinter in disbelief.

Blue finished tying Raph up, and Purple stood, dusting themself off. Blue reached down and picked up the very angry red bandana-ed turtle like a sack of potatoes, walking over to the pit and dropping Raph on the ground.

“ONCE I GET OUT OF HERE I’M GONNA FUCKING DESTROY YOU! YOU’RE GONNA WISH YOU’D NEVER BEEN MUTATED!”

“Uh-huh.” Blue glanced down at Raph, “You do that.”

Donnie looked at Raph nervously. “What if he escapes?”

Blue waved him off. “Don’t worry about it. NOW!” He clapped his hands together, turning back to face the shopping carts. “Who’s ready for makeovers?”

Purple was digging through the stolen goods, and came up holding a bunch of brightly colored packets. “First up; face masks.”

“Ooh~” Mikey leaned forward, eyeing the stuff in Purple’s hands with interest.

“Here.” Purple handed him a packet that said ‘hydrating pineapple’ on the front. “There’s instructions on the back.”

He turned it over and, sure enough, there were instructions on how to use the mask.

First it told him to wash his face? Well, that was probably a good idea. He took off his orange ninja mask, and followed all the instructions on the package. He opened the package and was immediately overwhelmed by the most heavenly pineapple smell. He glanced around and squeezed some onto his finger, intending to… uh… sample it? “Ah-ah-ah. It goes on your face, not in your mouth!” He smiled, smearing the glob onto his cheek. Finally, he got the rest of mask squished onto the scales of his face. It felt kind of weird, but not in a bad way. The masks looked a little weird to, but they were supposed to do something good so he just kind of ignored them. Seeing Karai without her makeup was weird though.

“Alright!” Blue strode back to the carts, his own face mask on his face, and dug around for a while. “Next we can do nail polish!”

Finally, Blue came back with several storage tubs full of nail polish, carefully upending the contents on the floor. There were so many! There had to be hundreds of the little bottles! Blue dug through and stopped on a hot pink bottle, glancing over at Raph, a Cheshire Cat smile spreading across his face.

He held up the bottle and looked at the teens gathered around him. “Whatcha think? Is this Raph’s color or what?”

“Oh yes,” Donnie looked at the hot pink nail polish and grinned. “That’s perfect.”

“Oh HELL NO!” It was kind of amazing that Raph still had the energy to try to wiggle free. Mikey thought he would have exhausted himself by now.

Mikey smirked, “Aww… come on Raphie… don’t you wanna be beautiful?”

“I WILL FILLET YOU!”

The rest of them snickered.

“Alright, Raphie…” Blue moved over to Raph, nail polish in hand. “Time for your nail polish~”

“I WILL TAKE THAT NAIL POLISH AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS!”

Mikey looked back at the pile of nail polish on the ground as Blue started putting the hot pink nail polish on the struggling Raph. A bottle of orange caught his eye, and he grabbed it. It was the exact same shade as his mask!

“Can I have this one?” He asked, looking up at Purple and Karai hopefully.

Purple glanced up from where he was sorting through some purples so dark they were almost black. “Of course. You can have any color you want.”

“Here,” Karai held out a hand to help him to his feet, “I’ll help you put it on.”

He flung himself at her and gave her a full body hug, “THANKS KARAI!”

She patted his head awkwardly, and he let go, bouncing with excess energy. She sat him down and had him set his hands down in-between the two of them. She unscrewed the top of the bottle, and carefully started painting his nails for him. He was so exited he was having a really hard time sitting still. When he looked over at the rest of his family, Blue seemed to have moved on from Raph and was now sitting with Leo. Purple seemed to be helping Donnie. He couldn’t really see what colors they had chosen, but that was fine. He’d see later.

“Alright, done.” Karai released his hands, “They’re still wet, so be careful.”

He looked down at his orange nails and smiled brightly, “Thanks dude! They look so cool!”

He resisted the urge to hug her again, not wanting to ruin her hard work, so he shook out his hands and kicked his feet to get the happy wiggles out. She smiled and stood, walking over to the pile of nail polish and beginning to search for one for herself.

“Tada!” Blue held up Leo’s hands, which had shimmery blue polish on them.

Leo smiled, looking at his nails then back up at Blue, “Thanks!”

Blue smirked, “Of course. You deserve to look fabulous, after all!”

Purple stood up, waving their hand’s at Donnie in a ‘move it’ gesture, “You’re done, now shoo. I’ve gotta find the color I want before Blue does or he’ll make me paint his nails first.”

Purple rushed to do what he said he would, leaving Donnie alone to look his slick black nails.

“Woah, nice colors dudes!” Mikey exclaimed.

He bounced over to ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over his brother’s nails, and snicker at Raph’s. Raph’s nail polish was much messier than everyone else’s, getting on his scales almost as much as his nails. He had probably been fighting Blue the whole time.

Before he knew it, the older teens had finished their own nail polish. Purple had ended up having to do both Blue and Karai’s nails before getting their own nails painted after all, much to his dismay. They all followed the directions to get their face masks off, and then Blue pulled out a bajillion different colorful bottles. He read each bottle, setting some off to the side, and handing others to specific people. They were told to use a little of the stuff in the bottles he handed to them, and he went over to deal with Raph himself. Mikey watched Blue smear the creamy stuff from inside the bottle all over Raph’s face, and copied that on himself. Finally, it was time to do their makeup.

Everybody gathered around as the three older teens worked on Raph’s makeup. His wiggling made it a little wonky, but the three of them managed to make it look pretty decent. Then they all split up. Blue ended up with Donnie, Purple was with Mikey, and Karai was with Leo.

First, Purple squirted some sort of gel onto his hand, and then smeared said gel all over Mikey’s face.

“I already smeared all the cream on me!” Mikey protested. “You don’t need to put more cream on me!”

Purple smirked, “That was moisturizer. This is primer. It helps the makeup stick to your face longer.”

“Oh…”

“Usually next we’d use foundation, but I custom mixed those bases from special effects makeup and my own proprietary blend of pigments to match our skin tones, but alas-” they threw an arm over their forehead, “I have not done that here. Yet.”

“I didn’t understand a word you just said, dude,” Mikey replied, beaming.

“That’s alright. You will,” Purple paused dramatically. “But now, we shall move onto the most expressive part of the face… the eyes!” He raised a drawn on eyebrow to bring home the point, and, with a flourish, pulled out a metric-shit-ton of brightly colored powdery circles all lined up on little rectangle thingies.

“OOOOOOOO-“

“Thirty-six colors to choose from. Take your pick, Mikey. But remember, color choices say a lot about a turtle.”

Mikey looked over all the pretty colors. This wasn’t fair! He wanted ALL of them. Wait… “Is… all of them a choice?”

Purple paused and sat back, thinking about Mikey’s question. “I think…” he grinned, “I could make that work.”

“YES!” Mikey pumped his fist.

Purple set the makeup next to them, and turned to face Mikey. He grabbed a little roll of fabric and unfurled it to reveal… little paint brushes? They ran their finger along the length, over each of the little brushes before stopping on one with a long handle, and short puffy, rounded bristles.

“This, is an eye shadow brush. Now, hold. Still.”

Purple wiggled the brush in a little color circle and came at Mikey’s face. As Purple worked, tongue sticking out of the corner of his mouth, a sudden commotion behind them broke their concentration, and he turned to see what the hell was going on.

“HOLD STILL!”

“I’M TRYING!”

Donnie flinched away from what looked like a… black crayon??? as Blue tried to draw on him. Again.

“DUDE!” Blue stared at Donnie, exasperated.

“IT’S NOT LIKE I WANT TO KEEP FLINCHING!” Donnie threw his hands up in the air.

“Purple!” Blue looked to his twin, “Help me hold him down!”

“WHAT?!” Donnie looked between the twins nervously as Purple left Mikey to help Blue.

Mikey started laughing as Purple and Blue chased Donnie around the living room. The twin’s eyes lit up as they did their… what was it called? Mind-meld? Yeah that sounded right. As they did their mind-meld. Then they split up, Purple running to cut Donnie off, and Blue continuing his headlong rush to catch the younger turtle. Donnie skidded to a stop when he saw Purple waiting to ambush him, and Blue tackled him from behind, pinning him to the ground.

“Quit. Squirming!” Blue grumbled as Donnie tried to wiggle free. “Purple, get the eyeliner!”

Purple nodded and grabbed it, and Donnie’s struggling increased as Purple walked back. Purple used the arms in their Battle-shell to hold Donnie’s face still, and began trying to apply the makeup, but Donnie was blinking so much, (even with his eyes shut,) that Purple threw the eyeliner at Donnie’s face, tossed his hands in the air, and walked away.

“I give up!” Purple said to the world at large, “He squirms more than the toppings on a Super Creepy Supreme Pizza.”

“What’s that?” Mikey asked as Purple came back over to help him with his makeup, holding very still so Purple wouldn’t make a mistake.

“And why would a pizza squirm?” Leo grimaced.

“Quit moving,” Karai told him.

“Sorry.”

“It’s a Yōkai pizza,” Purple informed them, squinting at Mikey’s makeup before grabbing something else. “The toppings are alive.”

“WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!?” Raph shouted.

“It’s good pizza!” Blue defended, leaving Donnie laying on the floor.

“PIZZA SHOULD NOT BE ALIVE!” Raph was trying to escape his ropes again.

Purple glanced back and raised a brow ridge, “Didn’t you guys live off of worms and algae for fifteen years?

“Wha- That’s not- I don’t- That’s different!” Raph spluttered.

“The Super Creepy Supreme’s toppings kinda look like worms,” Blue added helpfully.

“Or leeches,” Purple added.

“Or tentacles,” Blue said thoughtfully.

“Oh, wait. I can just show you what they look like,” Purple grabbed their phone and scrolled through for a moment before turning it to show the people behind them.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?” Raph shrieked, desperately trying to wiggle his way out of his restraints and away from whatever was on Purple’s phone.

“That’s- That’s just not right,” Donnie muttered.

Leo stared at it in horror, and Karai looked a little paler than usual.

Mikey scooted around so he could see the screen. The picture showed all four of the turtle’s from Blue and Purple’s universe sitting in what looked like a restaurant booth, leaning over a table covered in pizzas and looking at the camera. There were some normal ones, Hawaiian, Meat Lovers, plain Cheese, and some others, but the one that captivated Mikey’s attention was in the middle of the table. The brother’s were all grabbing a slice from that one, with varying levels of enthusiasm. Blue and Purple looked excited, Red looked intrigued, and Orange was grimacing. Each slice had several weird slimy looking teal and green creatures on it, that appeared to be wiggling. The creepiest bit though, was all of the little creatures seemed to be looking directly at the camera as well.

“So cool!” Mikey breathed.

“That was the one and only time we got Orange to try the Super Creepy Supreme,” Blue sighed.

“Why?” Mikey looked at him confused, “It looks good!”

“That’s what we’re saying!” Blue exclaimed, gesturing at Mikey with both arms.

“Yeah, no,” Karai looked at them flatly. “That is disgusting.”

“Your opinion doesn’t count. You haven’t even tried it,” Purple crossed his arms.

“That makes Mikey’s food crimes look tame in comparison,” Leo said.

“GASP!” Purple pointed a finger at Leo in outrage. “How DARE you compare the Super Creepy Supreme to Michael’s horrendous food combinations!”

“Alright, done,” Karai said, setting down a super puffy brush and a little compact of powder. She grabbed a tiny mirror, turning it so Leo could see himself. “What do think Leo?”

Leo looked at his reflection in wonder, “Woah!” He leaned forward, tilting his head to get a better look at himself, “I look so pretty.”

Karai had tied Leo’s mask around the top of his head like a headband, and the mask tails were tied into a tidy bow at the nape of his neck, the earrings that he had taken earlier stuck into the sides of his mask/headband.

Karai smiled and pulled him into a side hug. “Very pretty,” She agreed.

Purple leaned back to get a better look at his work. After a moment, they nodded, satisfied, “Mikey is done as well.”

Mikey leaped up and spun in place, “How do I look?”

Blue looked over and whistled in appreciation, “Very nice.”

Mikey’s face lit up with an idea, “Oh! Once you guys do your makeup, we should take a picture! We need to remember this forever!”

“Oho~ Good idea Mikey!” Blue perked up from where he was searching for some primer for himself or something.

“Yes, I agree. We should do that,” Purple got up to grab what they needed to do their own makeup.

Donnie was wearing black eye shadow all around each eye, and black lipstick in a way that vaguely reminded Mikey of Casey’s face paint.

Eventually, the older teens finished. Karai’s makeup was pretty close to her usual, but with a few extra flourishes at the corners of each eye. Purple’s was kind of like Donnies, except with more purple and fancy eyeliner. He even drew eyebrows on his skin, and a little black star on their cheek. Blue’s makeup was SPARKLY! There was a lot of blue, and somehow he made his red eye thingies BRIGHT PINK! It was like somebody filled a water balloon with glitter and smashed him right in the face! He kind of reminded Mikey of that one dude he saw on the TV that liked to dress up as a really pretty woman.

Blue walked over to where Raph was tied up. “Alrighty mi amigos, let’s get that group photo,” he framed his face with his hands. “I look amazing, and we need to capture my amazingness on camera.”

Purple’s Battle-shell extended an arm that held his phone out to take the picture. They shoved Blue roughly as they moved to crouch beside Raph so that the captive turtle would also be in frame. “Oh, shut it, ‘Nardo.”

Blue stuck his tongue out at his twin before smiling at the camera posing next to Purple, doing bunny ears behind the softshell’s head. Mikey bounced over to crouch next to Raph, in front of Blue, doing his own bunny ears behind Raph’s head. Leo and Donnie squished into Raph’s other side.

“Everybody say makeovers!” Blue cheered.

“MAKEOVERS!”

The phone screen blinked white, and the moment was captured.

Bonus!

Mikey wandered into the kitchen for a glass of water. It was late, and everybody else had already gone to bed. Even their resident insomniacs! (See: Donnie, Blue, and Purple.) He yawned and flipped on the kitchen lights, then blinked, trying to process what he was seeing. Raph stood frozen in the middle of the kitchen, looking at Mikey with wide eyes. Mikey squinted and… yep. That wasn’t a trick of the light. Raph was definitely wearing a moisturizing face mask.

Notes:

My mom helped me a lot with this, cause I don’t really wear makeup (I think it’s pretty, but I flinch when things get close to my eyes…), whereas she went to school for that shit and used to work at a salon. Like, I just wrote “[insert likely makeup product]” in some places.

At some point I wanna draw the photo they take at the end, but my motivation is so fucking weird so we’ll see if it actually happens.

EDIT: I’ve finally finished the drawing!
