Newt loved creatures of all kinds and could rattle on about them for hours his brother used to tease him that newt was only interested in creatures... Theseus had called them his special interest
Newt disagreed there was always something new to Learn about them or to find out like the dugbog who preferred to eat the mandrake root and had been the cause of several shortages because they would rip them up and eat them or shred them beyond use or the fact that they had razer sharp teeth and were aquatic because they had finned feet and didn't have a fear of people in fact they were more likely to attack you then to back down or the fact that you would mistake them for driftwood unless you looked for them or they moved braking the illusion
That all fascinated Newt greatly but one of his favorites was the nundu that could look like a lion or a leopard depending on what type it was and had a deadly gas for it's breath and the fact it had spines like a puffer that when puffed up made a mane it was so fascinating and he could never learn enough about them
