Chapter Text

They had packed their things days ago, yet Crunchy Chip couldn't help feeling nervous, especially since his brother wasn't allowed to go.

...doesn't matter. Appa is with them; they have nothing to fear by his side.

-

In the end, nothing mattered. He felt calm as he came to this realization.

"So... I won't have to watch my cream wolves die anymore...?" Wait. No.

fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck-

Where did all the others go?! No matter where he looked, he could only see flour.

"Caramel Arrow!"

He started running. "Can anyone hear me?!"

He wasn't going down like this, no. This isn't the end yet!

"Crunchy Chip!" A familiar voice called out, yet he couldn't figure out where it came from because of the mist.

"Caramel Arrow! I'm here!"

Tears were streaming down his face. "Please, Lustrous Nightshade, protect us..."

-

Dark Cacao tried to lift his head.

"Finally awake, no?"

A hand grabbed him by his hair and pulled.

He coughed, flour filling his lungs.

Flour. It was everywhere- his hair, his eyes, his mouth.

"...I had expected better from my successor." The woman sighed. "Well, at least you seem to have embraced apathy, even if only a little bit...."

Embraced apathy?! No way, not him. Not now, not ever! He took a deep breath before swinging his fist, hitting her chin. "You-"

Instantly, he was lifted up by silk threads and he was met with a cold gaze.

"I had planned to leave you alive, yet you leave me no choice..."

The threads tightened around his body, making it practically impossible to breath.

"Ugh-!"

He struggled, yet it did't change anything, he was still stuck.

The shining gem on his blade caught his eye. But it was too far away, how was he supposed to grab it?!

The dragons. He could ask the dragons-

"When you fought against them, you didn't actually kill the twin dragons. That's impossible, actually."

Stormbringer leaned against his shoulder as she ate a peach bao. "They were sealed inside your blade. Not like I care much about it- but maybe, this'll be the tide turner in a battle for you. Dragons are proud creatures that only look up to the strong. You probably already secured their loyalty." She gave him a cheeky grin.

At that time, Dark Cacao hadn't been so sure about asking the dragons for help.
Seems like he doesn't have an option this time.

Witches help him, he wasn't going to make it out alive this time. .....it reminded him of how Pure Vanilla would scold him for being too reckless, and-

He cleared his mind of any unnecessary thoughts before calling out to the dragons...

"Are you finally able to see the world of white?"

Dark Cacao kept his eyes closed. He didn't have the time for this-

"I have my other half back now... At last, I am complete. I can feel the force of Volition within."

Reach inside of yourself, his mother's voice said. He took a deep breath. The magic will answer you.

-*-

The dragons twirled in the air, caught in an endless battle. Apart from them, he could only see black mountains in the distance, their peaks blanketed in snow.

"I swear on my sword to tell the truth- I will never become "just" a cookie!

For a moment, two pairs of bright white eyes stared at him.

"O mighty dragons, noble masters of the snowy mountains and descendants of the skies!
I believe in you to face the enemy with great courage!
Use your power and stop the Beast from ending the world as we know it!
Help me win this battle- I am prepared to sacrifice my life and I shall not sheath my sword until this battle is done and honor has been won!
Let fear be swept away, and stand by my side in its place!
Heed my words, noble dragons! Take to the skies! Let the world tremble at your majesty once more, like it did in the days of old!
Let it be know that we fought side by side in the days of resolution and dignity!!!
Are you ready to fight by my side in this final battle?"

He held his breath. He placed his bet on a single card- now he could only hope that it was the right one.

He waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, the White Dragon spoke.

"What a rousing speech from our Master!" It laughed as it flew around him.

The Black Dragon lightly hit it with its long tail. "Huh? Master? Since when have you called him by that title?"

"Ever since he put an end to our ceaseless fights," it answered.

"He.. he he. Well, I suppose we have to thank him... both for stopping and uniting us!"

The dragons spoke together:

"Your sword shall never fail you again! But should you fall.... we will perish with you! Nothing is more honorable than fighting until the very end.

-*-

Dark Cacao opened his eyes again, filled with a newfound confidence. The White Dragon swiftly cut him out of the cocoon and he landed safely on his feet thanks to the Black Dragon.

Go ahead, Master. We are by your side, til Death do us part.

He picked up his sword.

-

These past days, White Lily couldn't help it, she was worried. Pure Vanilla was still recovering and with what Wizard had discovered.... She feared that something might happen to Dark Cacao, or any of the others...

She was looking outside the window when she heard a knock on the door. "Come in!"
