Well, here they were.
It honestly started out pretty innocently, Neuvillette and Wriothesley sitting in Wriothesley’s office, and were having some tea as they discussed business and also caught up.
That was when Sigewinne had joined them for a bit with her Chansey with her and well, the subject had changed to Pokemon.
And Sigewinne brought up her and Clorinde’s recent battle that they did for funsies, and she pondered out loud, “You know… which of you two would win if you guys battled?”
“I don’t think the Iudex spends enough time actually battling or training with his pokemon that he’d be able to beat Furina, no offense Neuvillette.”
“You’d be surprised, I spend quite a good deal of time in between trials training my pokemon.”
“Really? How about a battle to show that off, the Prankration Ring should be free.”
And with that, they had stepped into the Pankration Ring for the battle, only using partial teams for simplicity's sake. If either of them brought their most powerful team, well… the ring may need some repairs. Especially with the rumors of Neuvillette possessing a Lugia. The battle commenced as soon as they reached their respective ends of the ring, the Duke leading with a Grapploct against the Iudex's Gyarados.
Its a whirlwind of flashing lights and sounds immediately, super effective moves flying back and forth as the Pokemon trade hits, Wriothesley's fainting first due to the unfortunate type matchup. He then throws out his Crabominable, which manages to tank hits from the Gyarados to KO it, as well as put up a great fight against Neuvillette's ace, Milotic.
"Bringing out your ace already?" Wriothesley grinned, his own ace, a Midnight Form Lycanroc, sitting comfortably in it's ball.
The Iudex smiled back, arms folded calmly behind his back. "I am indeed. It is unwise to bring out a dragon type in a fight with an ice type, even if my Kingdra could outspeed your Pokemon."
His judgement turns out to be very good indeed, as the Crabominable nearly KO's his Milotic before it can defeat it, but then it's finally a battle between the trainers aces. And quite the battle it becomes, Neuvillette expertly instructing his Pokemon to dodge and weave around everything Wriothesley throws at them, while the Duke himself very nearly pulls off the win with how much raw strength his Lycanroc has, though in the end…
Neuvillette and his ace are victorious, having the upper hand in both type matchup and overall speed.
With the battle over, both return their Pokemon to their respective Pokeballs, and meet in the middle of the ring to shake hands— and for Wriothesley to hand over the customary prize Mora.
“You don’t have to give me the prize Mora, this was just to settle an argument.”
“Hey, you won, if I won I would’ve made you buy me some tea, so fair's fair, besides it’s customary.”
Neuvillette sighed, “Fair enough. This was fun though, we should do this again sometime, I see why Sigewinne likes doing this with Clorinde.”
“Ditto. Maybe next time I’ll beat you.”
He gives a smile, “We’ll see.”
