Chapter Text
Catarina just finished a shift in the ER. She is so excited to go home and sleep for 10 hours, because she deserves it after all this effort saving mundanes. She was about to walk past an alleyway, when she hears someone sobbing, and gasping in short breaths. They're hyperventilating, and I she doesn't intervene, they'll pass out and possibly hurt themselves. So, she delays her wishes of sleep, and goes to help this person.
Nothing could've prepared her for what she saw.
"Alec?" Befire she's fully aware of herself, she's sprinting full speed to her best friends boyfriend. He's covered in blood, his stele lays useless on the floor. It's a little overwhelming, even for catarina. This badass, stoic shadowhunter she's grown to love, is bleeding out whilst full on sobbing on the floor of this dirty alley. Nephilim don't cry. That, now that, is terrifying. She's never seen anything upsetting enough to make a shadowhunter cry, in public, while compromised, especially being head of an institute. "Alec, honey, you need to calm yourself down. Slow breaths, with me." The shadowhunters crying subsides. "Can't. Hurts. But it's okay. I heard his voice one last time." He smiles. She snaps and his shirt is off (after warning him), and she realizes why he can't breath. Two stab wounds. One through his ribs, puncturing his lund. She had to try and fix this.
She's so glad she decided to walk home today.
Catarina calls to her magic with a snap of her fingers, and a wispy blue fog immediately settles over his wounds. There's a puncture in his lung, of which she manages to heal, she clears up the shit ton of internal bleeding, and closes the higher wound until it is superficial. She'll stitch that up the mundane way soon. She gets to work on the second puncture, about six inches away from his hip. She's running low-ish on magic, so she does what is necessary for him to survive a portal, before sending a strike of ble into forming a portal and lifting Alec with magic.
They travel back to her apartment; she has healing equipment both mundane and magic here. Madzie is already asleep, and the babysitter left when the portal formed in the room, before Cat actually came through. She drinks a stamina potion before healing the rest of the lower wound and sedating alec: he's too distraught to stay fully conscious. Alec laid in the bed of the guest bedroom, now she has the task of calling magnus.
"Catarina, dear, to what do I owe the pleasure? I have all night to chat, sadly Alexander cannot make dinner. Shame. Anyway how are you?"
"Magnus. It's uh, kind of about Alec. He's with me. And it'd be really helpful if you could over; he wasn't in the best state when I found him."
"Why? What happened to him? Is he okay? Are you?"
"He's okay now, magnus. I healed him. I found him in an alleyway sobbing and dying. Stupid nephilim shouldve called one of us-" always like Catarina to e blunt.
"Oh.. He did, I think. He- he called me, about 20 minutes ago, saying he just wanted to hear my voice, he said he couldn't make dinner today. He seemed really off, I- I shouldve known, oh god, he was dying alone in an alley? By lilith.."
"Mags, honey, you're rambling. He's okay. I knocked him out. He'll be fine in a couple days. But you really should get over here. He's ought to wake at some point."
"Of course, dear, I'm on my way now." And with that, he opens a portal to Cat's.
