You're mine? or I'm Yours? CHOOSE!

Summary:

He let out a sigh and placed his two hands inside his pants pocket.

Osamu heard it, asked “Hinata-san?”

“What?”

“Never seen you like that before, are you interested?”

He actually pauses and grins as he asks back, “Am I?” looking back to where Shouyou is.

“Idiot,” Osamu replied.

Notes:

HI EVERYONE!!! I know I've been MIA for a long time but I never even once turn my back in this Fandom specially
ATSUHINA <3

So here is the first chapter of my on-going atsuhina fanfic and so far I already written the next chapters I just need to polish it more since my brain is scattered all around (it's really hard to take some time since I am now working my ass off.) and I'm still trying to finish my Sunset Smile fic. So please be kind to me. T.T

This is a little short but I hope that you all will enjoy it. :3

Chapter Text

Prologue

“Hinata-san..” Atsumu called as he bowed himself trying to gather the words he’s been wanting to say all this time to the girl who’s in front of him with bright ginger hair and eyes colored with golden fiery sun that will absolutely burn you if you stare at it too much. Pausing for a minute as he gathered his courage. He said as if declaring war  “ please, go out with me.”

…………………….

Atsumu’s attention was caught by someone who he had never seen before, ‘maybe she’s a new student?’ he thought to himself.

It’s kind of weird and creepy as Osamu (he’s stupid twin brother) would say but for him it’s endearing and fun to be able to judge someone’s character and intention just by observing them, It’s like predicting where the ball is gonna land once he tosses it up against the air or predicting the person’s mind behind the other side of the net and most of the time he was right.

“What’s up with you? Isn’t it too early for you to be creepy? What are you looking at?” Osamu asked while opening his bread pan.

As Osamu was waiting for him to answer, he just saw this girl's lips open, lip reading it as “ I can do this! Fighting??? Fighting!”, he grinned as he answered, “Nothing.”

They finally entered their classroom and upon settling himself in his seat, Suna came up to them, “Hey losers, did you both hear that there’s a new girl in class?”

Osamu couldn’t care less although both of them find it weird that someone will transfer in the middle of the year. It’s probably due to that person’s circumstances, a parent's job that needed to be relocated or getting into trouble that they needed to change school.

“Did you just say ‘girl’?” he asked

“Yeah, that’s what I heard when I passed down in the hallway.” Suna answered without looking at him and clicking on his phone.

He smirked as he rested his head on his desk.

“Okay… Class settled down.” The teacher said upon entering the room, gathering the class attention as he continued, “I would like you all to meet and welcome our new student, you may now enter”

The class started cooing as the new student entered the room and stood in front.

“Go on, introduce yourself.” The teacher instructed, smiling at the new student.

The whole room fell into a deep silence which made Atsumu raise his head and finally see what’s going on .

“Morning,” Osamu teased.

“Fuck off” he whispered back annoyingly but then settling his eyes to the girl standing in front of the class.

Observing closely, the girl is probably the smallest girl in the class. Also had a petite body build that made her look fragile. She had a orangey auburn long curly hair and a deep golden brown hazel eyes,

“Hi-.. Hinata Shou.. Shouyou. Nice to meet you all and I hope we all could be friends.” She said a bit shy but energetic as she let off a smile that left him in awe.

No one left him such an impression and it was certainly the first time so he didn’t actually know how to react. He was used to judging everyone around him since it is a lot easier for him to avoid people who he deemed ‘not good enough to be around or just utterly scrub’  . He hates wasting time in small talks and he couldn’t be bothered by what everyone thinks of him.

So.. Why? Why did he care all of a sudden what this girl would think of him? Fixing his hair and his posture simply, avoiding Osamu remarks since their teacher instructed the new girl to sit beside him.

‘She smells good’ He thought to himself and Osamu probably will say that he’s a creep when he hears it but she really does smell good.

“Yo. Hinata-san” Suna finally breaks the silence, sitting behind her, “Suna.. Suna Rintarou” introducing himself and continued, “That’s Osamu” pointing to his brother and “That’s Atsumu” pointing to him now.

“Yo. Miya Osamu” Osamu deadpan-ly introducing himself.

“Hey, don’t go around introducing us without our permission, Rintan.” He said, trying to sound cool.

“Yeah? Whatever. I just did. “ Suna replied as he shrugged.

“Miya Atsumu.” he finally said, ignoring Suna.

Shouyou looks at him and then looks at Osamu then turns her head to his direction and then to Osamu’s direction. She does it a couple of times until she blurts out, “There’s… two of you.”

Atsumu and Osamu look at each other as Suna finally loses it and bursts out in laughter.

“Yeah, unfortunately but you could just ignore this guy if you want since I’m the better Miya anyway” Osamu teasingly, trying to spite him as he and Suna laughs.

“-Or… You can just pay attention to me since I am more handsome and more charismatic right?” He said in a demeanor, grabbing Shouyou’s attention. As if he was gonna let Osamu win in this banter.

NOT REALIZING THAT HE PRACTICALLY FLIRTED WITH THE NEW GIRL, which he doesn't normally do to anyone and specially not out of nowhere.

“Ohhhh” Suna and Osamu both teasingly cooed as he finally realized what he just said. His face flush as he wants to bury himself.

“I–. I mean, Twins.. We’re twins. Yeah..” He stuttered, making it the worst comeback but it’s better than nothing right? Trying to console himself.

Shouyou blushed upon hearing him and said in agreement, avoiding Atsumu’s eyes, “Right.. Twins.”

‘What the heck was that?’ Atsumu told himself as he lay his head down again on his desk.

The bell finally rings..

Atsumu as well as Osamu and Suna are heading out for the cafeteria.  He didn’t get the chance to talk to Shouyou again and redeemed himself since Shouyou is now surrounded by their female classmates, wanting to get to know her.

Chapter Text

Atsumu has never been the type to believe in "love" since he saw how their mom and dad break apart and decided to just call it quits like him and Osamu meant nothing. How they were used to things like being with their mother in fall and then being with their father one summer. It's always been like that since they turned 8 years old. Adults called it "co-parenting" which he actually finds ridiculously stupid by the way but yeah, whatever… If it works then it's a good thing. Right?

The only good thing about their parents was that they were both supportive about the things they wanted to do. That is why they are now in Hyōgo with their grandmother(mother of their father.) Him and Osamu were both accepted and were granted a sports scholarship, a well-known "Inarizaki". Their love for volleyball gave them a chance to be normal teenagers without the worries that they need to pack off their things over and over again for the sake of their parent's will. It's the stability that he and Osamu long for.

So back to the topic, like stated… he's never been the type of guy who believes in 'love' neither this one thing bullshit called "love at first sight".

He's not Osamu. He was neither friendly nor easy to get along with. He is the total opposite of his twin brother.

He's fully aware of it and to be honest, he actually liked it that way since he didn't need to please other people like Osamu normally does. He's not against it, Osamu was sort of a peace maker ever since they were young. Even though they were twins they were completely two different people.

So why is he comparing himself to his twin now?.

Asking himself this while he steals some glances to the girl who is an inches away from him.

'This is stupid' he whispered to himself.

Upon glancing once more, his eyes and Shouyou's eyes finally meet. But Shouyou… instead of looking away, smiled at him with a gentle look on her face, that it caught him off guard and he could frantically feel his face burn, 'What the-' as he looked away that instant and pretended that it doesn’t bother him… not even an inch.

“Could you stop being a moron for once?” Osamu sarcastically asked.

“What now? I ain’t even doing shit.” he annoyingly asked back.

“Why not just talk to her?. It’s not like Hinata-san looks so intimidating that you put your tail between your legs.” Osamu continued as he stuffed his mouth with an onigiri.

“Shut up. Who says I’m intimidated? Get out of my case.” He said, rolling his eyes.

He knows that Osamu is right but will he admit that? Of course not. He just didn’t know how to start a conversation nor how to approach her.

But then one afternoon, they were given a chance to be alone since they were together on a cleaning duty.

He noticed how Shouyou struggled to put some books in the bookshelves that were left behind.

“Here, let me help you.” grabbing the book in Shouyou’s hands and putting it on the shelves.

Shouyou looks at him and smiled as she says, “Thank you, Miya-san”

“You’re welcome. But can you just call me Atsumu? It’s a little weird calling me by my family name when I have Samu as my twin and it’s been a while since I heard someone calling me ‘Miya-san’ ya’know?” he awkwardly requested and explained.

Shouyou tried to analyze what he just said, putting her index finger below her chin like thinking if she’s even allowed to do it or not and after contemplating she finally said in a softly voice, “At.. sumu- san”.

It’s like he’s inside of a romance novel where the female lead slowly sways her way inside the male lead’s heart. Where the wind gently touches the characters skin and hair, projecting a perfect summer in the middle of a winter. What’s even funny? Is that he’s not even reading one.

That is not the first time he hears someone call him out of his name but it’s the first time someone says it that actually sent chills all over his body. He can’t even explain it.

“Right.” He said, stroking his hair, avoiding Shouyou’s eyes as he continued, “We should hurry up, I still have a club to do.”

“Ohh!” Shouyou exclaimed.

“What happened?!” he maniacally  asked, afraid that something had happened.

“Oh sorry, didn’t mean to scare you. I just remembered that Suna-san actually said that you were in a volleyball team together with him and Miya-sa..” she paused a little, maybe hesitating and then continued asking, “Should I call Miya-san, Osamu?”

“I guess. Have it your way. He prefers it anyway as well.” He answered, trying not to laugh at her question.

As soon as they finished cleaning up, Atsumu grabbed his bag. He needed to attend the team training today (not like he had any choice from being the captain). He was specifically instructed by their coach to lead today’s training since he won’t be around but then he remembered Shouyou’s reaction upon knowing that he’s a member of the volleyball club, trying to figure out if the girl is somehow interested in the sport.

‘She doesn’t look athletic though.’ he mumbled but there was nothing to lose in asking so he continued, “Do you like volleyball?”

Shouyou a little bit startled ‘cause she thought he already left the room, “Kind of. I love watching volleyball games since I’m a little small and weak to actually join and play it.” she diffidently answered.

“Just a little ha?” he teasingly said.

“Hey, what is that supposed to mean?” Shouyou poutingly said.

“I’m just kidding. Do you wanna come and watch us train?” he asked even though he wasn’t sure if inviting her was a good idea.

“Can I?” the girl asked back.

“Yeah sure. I don’t mind.” not really, he minded but then again will he admit that? Certainly not.

Shouyou's smiling face began to frown when she suddenly remembered that she needed to do their grocery for supper and her little sister was waiting for her to come home, “What a shame.. I thought I could watch but I needed to go home now. I have errands to do.” she sadly explained feeling a little bit shy for declining Atsumu’s invitation.

“Then next time. It’s not like this year is gonna end without you having a chance to watch us play.” he said trying to sound empathetic for the first time.

Shouyou happily nodded in agreement and waved goodbye to Atsumu. He was about to walk out of the room when the girl said smiling, “Good luck on your training Atsumu-san. See you tomorrow.”

With all honesty, he couldn’t help but to smile back and wave Shouyou goodbye and he never has done it before to anyone, ‘ What am I even doing?’

Pulling himself together as he scratches the back of his head.

…………………………………

Ever since they moved from Miyagi to Hyogo, Shouyou has been a little down. She misses her friends as well as her surroundings. Air in the city is very different from the breeze she feels in the countryside.

Although she understands that they needed to move away because of their parent’s job, she can’t help but to wish that Miyagi is just one mile away from her.

But she needed to move on and get used to it. Luckily, her classmates are more welcoming than she expected.

"Hinata-san" one of her classmates called.

"Yes?"

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"Eh??" She cluelessly answered and continued, "No. I don't have one." Trying to laugh it off.

"What? But you're so pretty!" The other girl commented.

'Am I?'  She thought to herself as she sheepishly chuckled while her face instantly flushing.

It's not that she's not used to hearing compliments, it's just that she doesn't take it seriously or maybe she's just tired of hearing it? Who knows..

At the corner of her eyes, she notices how one of the Miyas looks at her from time to time. The one with blonde hair and every time she catches him, that guy will instantly look away.

So she couldn't help but to be curious, asking their class representative while they were eating, "Ahm, Kasunagi-san.. Are the Miyas friendly?"

"Hmm.." Kasunagi hummed as she continued, "They were okay, I guess?. I never really got a chance to talk to them. But they have been my classmates ever since our freshmen year. They were the famous 'Miyas' of the volleyball team."

"Famous 'Miyas'?" She asked again, wanting to know more as she got another rolled egg in her bento.

"Well, the twins got here because of the sports scholarship and somehow I can proudly say that our school is one of the best in the volleyball field. So you can just imagine how good they were, especially Miya Atsumu. From what I know, he ranked 1st in the Nation as the Best Setter. But he really does have a crappy personality sometimes. On the other hand, Miya Osamu.. he's the complete opposite of his twin. He's rather approachable and friendlier that is why he got the title of the 'better Miya.' then that's that. I couldn't say anything more since I'm not really close to any of them. " Kasunagi explained and then asked, "Why did you ask?"

She shook her head and answered, "Nothing.. Just got curious."

"Is that so?"

She nodded and gave a small chuckle.

While walking her way to the vending machine, she saw the blonde guy drinking at the water fountain.

They didn't greet each other as she was shy to take the initiative and she remembered how Kasunagi described Miya Atsumu. She was a little scared to give off the wrong impression.

She tried to avoid the blonde guy stares and pretended to mind her business by inserting money into the vending machine and picking a bottle of juice but then the vending machine seemed broken. It wouldn't drop her juice. She tries to press the button again and then again and again but nothing happens.

Atsumu notices her and then asks, "Not dropping?"

She embarrassedly nodded.

"Move away a little." Atsumu instructed her. He started to tap the vending machine and then in one go, gave it a light kick.

Like magic, the bottle juice dropped.

Atsumu got the bottle out of the machine, handed it to her without saying anything and then walked away from where she was standing.

She looked at the bottle in her hands and without realizing she called him out, "Miya-san."

The blonde guy stopped and looked back to her, as she continued, "Thank you."

Atsumu just gave her a nod and then started walking again.

She can feel her cheeks flushing as she tucks some of her hair in her ear.

That was her first encounter with Atsumu and contrary to what Kasunagi said, she thinks Atsumu is kind but unlike Osamu, he's the type of guy who shows his kindness discreetly so that he could avoid getting mixed up with the wrong crowd.

She looked at the bottle again in her hand as she whispered with a smile on her face, 'Thank you.'

………………………….

It's been a month since Shouyou came to Inarizaki and somehow from now and then he gets a chance to strike up a small conversation with the girl.

A little crazy and unbelievable but he wanted more, wishing for not just a small talk. Shouyou is just a ball of sunshine. A little bit timid but having her around feels like he could actually be himself. It really helps that Shouyou is also clueless and often says things he wants to hear.

Everybody likes her. She's kind, pretty and bubbly.

In just a month, he sees and hears(not intentionally) other guys confessing and asking to date her but none of them succeed.

And he wonders what kind of guy that Shouyou exactly likes.

Fortunately he was just a seat away from Shouyou. Trying to pretend he was sleeping. She was surrounded by their girl classmates asking what kind of guy that she likes.. He thinks it was just normal for girls to talk about stuff like this and it's not like he wasn't curious and to be honest, he was kind of eager to know.

She hums and answers, "I don't really know.. I have never dated anyone before so I can't tell-"

"Eh? Lame! At least give us something!" One of the girls cuts off demanding and everyone in the circle agrees.

"Geez. You guys… Well.. I think.. I would like someone who is only kind to the people he cares about. I'm a jealous type so I certainly don't like guys who entertain and get friendlier with other girls more than they have to." Shouyou said in an explaining manner.

"Then, Miya Atsumu will fit to your description" Kasunagi tease.

"Eh?! Hey stop it!. Atsumu-san could hear you." Shouyou mumuredly said, trying to keep her voice down, practically thinking that the blonde guy might have heard them (which is actually happening since he really wasn't sleeping.)

He can hear Osamu and Rintarou laughing silently upon hearing it as well.

Osamu teasingly whispered enough for the three of them to hear it, "Well, apparently Hinata-san is a jealous type. Luckily for her, the asshole here is a misanthrope.." which he quickly debunked by whispering back and not lifting his head up, still trying to pretend he was sleeping, "I am socially selective and that was far from being a misanthrope, asshole."

Osamu shrugged it off while Rintarou was still laughing his ass off to their banter.

And finally, he raises his head up while acting like he just woken up. Stretching his arms in the air as he steals some glances to where Shouyou at.

It actually turned into a hobby, looking, stealing some glances. Like his day wouldn't be complete if he didn't do it and hope that one day he'll have the courage to speak to her, invite her to lunch or if God forbids, walk her home?

'Wait a minute-' he pauses as if trying to slap himself, thinking what the hell is he thinking. No one can blame him, he was a stranger to such feelings and he wasn't sure enough why he was feeling like this. At least, not yet.

'How will you know if you are legit like this person? Is that enough to actually want them to be in your life? And if so, will you be brave enough to admit it?'

These were the questions that were spinning around his head as if the existence of love versus like itself is the problem from the very get go.

It's kind of overwhelming since his whole life revolves to where love is either wasted or let go.

He was about to just forget about it (for today) and proceed to his usual activity such as heading from the gymnasium for their volleyball training when he heard someone walk behind his back as he picked up his things.

And to his surprise, it was Shouyou. The girl who is now constantly in his mind and sometimes keeps him up late at night.

"Yo." Shouyou greeted him.

"Zap?" He says trying not to sound lame. Who the fuck say 'zap' as a greeting anyway?. He thought to himself, hating why all of the words in the world, he casually chose it, 'fuck'.

"About earlier, you probably didn't hear it or you probably didn't care but.. I just want to apologize about it'" Shouyou finally said after standing in front of him for a whole minute. She is probably explaining about what some of the girls said and the comments that they were unnecessarily saying.

"I didn't hear so you don't have to mind it." He replied, trying to ease Shouyou's mind as he continued, "it's probably true as well, I mean-"

"It's not!" Shouyou exclaimed, shortly cutting him off. Her eyes were closed and hands were gripped in her skirt as if tryin' her best to summon up the courage to say something.

He was a bit taken aback but then he let Shouyou finish what she wanted to say.

"What they said is wrong and… at least to me… you are kind and a thoughtful person, Atsumu-san." The girl calmly said.

"Here! Take this!" She shyingly requested, handing him a juice box from the vending machine and upon not reaching it out, Shouyou grab his one hand and put the juice box in his palm openly, "That's all. Goodluck on your training! Fighto! Fighto!!" She hurriedly says and then runs off, avoiding to see what he will react or what he will say.

He stared at the juice box in his hand and just like that it feels like all of his energy was sucked up that he actually sat down for a while, putting his other hand in his hair while his whole face was flushing.

With all of the questions he had there is only one thing he was sure of..

That Shouyou will be the death of him.

Chapter 3

Summary:

Time seems to stand still, like the sun and the clouds stopping their rotation at the center of the earth. Tense in the air but butterflies in her stomach, swirling the words in her mind that she hopes she would be able to say as she muttered, “Who wouldn’t like you Atsumu-san?”

Notes:

SO... As I was saying, updating this fic after 2 months of me being workaholic. BUT YEAHHHHHHHH. Remember when I was looking for someone who would teach me digital arts properly? YUP, I am currently learning my ass out so that I could do something worth while.

Chapter Text

It’s the Inarizaki school festival and no matter how hard Atsumu dislikes it, he needs to participate and actually ‘enjoy’ it as Osamu will say since first, he’s the volleyball team captain and the second reason, as it will be their last school festival in highschool.

Not a big deal for him though and it was well written all over his face.

“Come on now, you might as well enjoy the festival, Samu.” His twin brother encourages while also giving him a smirk.

“Yeah, Osamu is right. Why don’t you invite Hinata-san to some of the booths?” Rintarou openly teased which made Osamu laugh silently, not sure if they were trying to be supportive or just plainly if not too obvious trying to heckle him because that’s what they do best.

The only thing he was thankful about was that Shouyou is a little far away from them to hear what Rintarou had just said. He shrugged and pretended to act like the girl didn't bother him at all when the funny thing was that with the room full of crowded people, the only thing he could see was her..

Maybe he should invite Shouyou to check every booth out? Maybe they could eat hot takoyaki? Maybe Shouyou would love to try some desserts? If God forbid, maybe Shouyou will be willing to spend time with him?

‘What am I thinking?’ he muttered as he let out a sigh..

It’s been like what? Four months? And he still couldn’t get the courage to admit that he adores those auburn eyes, her lips when it curves into a smile, her laughs that are still ringing in his head and her hair that he sometimes heard that she hates on how unruly it was every morning when she wakes up. With all these said, how will he be able to just go and talk to her without his heart skipping and his face flushing?.

“I’m beat. Leave me alone.” He finally answered.

After preparing for their class booth for the whole day, carrying stuff and making props for their room haunted house, he feels like he is more tired than he was when he’s doing some situps and pushups during training. So, no.. He wouldn't give in and give those two jerks the satisfaction of ruining his day. Besides, it is his day, so he has the right to ruin it all by himself.

“Speaking of leave me alone, Katsunagi-san is pointing at you.” Rintarou alerted.

He rolled his eyes as if he wanted to say that he didn’t care and stopped trying to loop him up with anything but then he saw Katsunagi pushing Shouyou in front of her as she called him up, “Atsumu-san!!!”, with no contest and protest, he stood up and approach them.

“What’s up?” he stupidly said again.

He heard Shouyou whispering as if trying to tell the other girl not to say or ask him anything and heard Katsunagi saying how it’s okay and it’s fine.

“Ah yeah, Can you show Shou-chan around? I’m too busy managing our booth so I can't go with her.” Katsunagi nicely asked with a little hint of tease.

“But why me? There-” he said and somewhat shortedly cut off by their class rep, “There’s no one other than you.”  Continued with, “And besides, it looks like you had a lot of free time.. Right Suna-san? Osamu-san?”

“Right!” the two guys replied in unison.

Osamu pushed Atsumu beside Shouyou, “Take care of Tsumu, Hinata-san.” he said as he gave her a wink.

“You! Idio-” Atsumu tried to say but was simply cut off again by Rintarou waving his hands at them and telling them to have fun.

They were half way down the hallway through the stairs when Atsumu noticed how quiet Shouyou was. He wanted to ask why but he was trying not to make the atmosphere awkward and weird.

In the middle of him thinking of what to say or do, Shouyou finally stopped walking, fidgeting her fingers and said, “ I’m sorry about that Atsumu-san. I know you are busy and..”

“No, it’s fine.” He said, interrupting Shouyou further apologizing as he continued,“That four eyed girl is right, I wasn’t that busy. Since we are here, do you perhaps wanna try to look around?”

Shouyou smiled and nodded.

Making Atsumu feels light headed and fuzzy inside.

They both enjoyed visiting different booths and eating stuff that he didn’t notice that it was almost time for the bonfire. What he finds weird is that his phone is not vibrating with messages coming from his stupid twin nor from anyone in their class.

“We should go back, it’s almost time for the campfire.” He asked.

“Oh! Right! Sorry. I’m just having a lot of fun with you that I didn’t notice the time.” She replied and upon realizing what she just said, she immediately covered her mouth with her one hand and the other one was trying to flinch in the air as if she was saying not to mind what she just said.

As if Atsumu could do that. His ears instantly went red but since the girl was still with him, only an inch away, he played it cool and said, “Yeah. Same here. I had fun.”

Atsumu looked at her and saw flashes of red, tinted Shouyou’s face as she calmed down, putting her hands down as she said, “I’m glad to hear that.”

Upon going back to their classroom, they both notice that there was no one else inside. It seems that they all went to the field to prepare for the dance. It was the Inarizaki tradition, not that he minds since he never participated in it before. He finds it ridiculous, hearing other students talking about the ‘famous myth’ saying, ‘Whoever your partner during the dance, is the person you were destined to be with.’

Who the fuck believes on that? At least not him.

“I think they all went to the field already,” he said but then he heard someone lock the door from the outside thinking that nobody was there so he immediately tried to open it as he was shouting that they were still inside but since the music from the speaker was too loud that person didn’t him.

“What the?” he mumbled as he looked out for Shouyou who went silent at the moment. She looks frightened standing at the corner of the room. ‘Is she perhaps afraid of closed rooms?’

“Ahm..” he said, getting the girl’s attention and once he did he continued, “ Well, I think we’ll be stuck here for a while but don’t worry, I’m gonna message Samu up to get us out of here..”

Sounding reassuring, Shouyou sighs as a sign of relief and said, “This might sound so stupid but I’m not really good in close spaces or rooms. You see, when I was just 6 yrs old, I used to love hiding in small spaces, you know since I’m small. But.. Then I lock myself inside of a cabinet. So that’s that.” She explained with a little embarrassment in her voice.

He never was good at comforting people nor did he intend to make other people good about themselves but he somehow understood Shouyou’s fear. He, himself, had a few things that he was scared about.

He was about to say something but then they heard the music coming from the speaker, the dance was already starting. A signal that the school festival has officially ended.

“Sorry about this. You didn’t get the chance to dance with someone you like.” he said wanting to hear the girl answer whether she liked someone or not.

There’s no doubt that everyone around Shouyou likes her but he actually hopes that the one she likes would be him. As the music played, little by little, his feelings started as if to float around him. He realizes that he missed this chance; it might take him another few days, weeks, months or years to have it.

But then again, is he really ready? Will he be able to do it? What if she rejects her?

If there are two things he hates, it’s him being rejected and him being a coward not wanting to risk it all before he gives up. Giving up was never in his vocabulary before, it’s you win it or you go home. There’s no in between.

But for Shouyou, it was different. It has always been different.

He was scared that Shouyou might not know what to do. He truly cares. He didn’t want to put her in a situation where she felt that she had no choice but to accept his feelings. There’s a part of him that no matter how much he likes her, Shouyou’s happiness will always be his priority and always will be.

“Do you perhaps want to dance?” the girl asked. There’s no doubt in her voice that she was quite confident in asking him when in reality he should be the one asking that instead. Shouyou continued, “We might as well enjoy this until the end. Only if you want to…”

“Shall we?” he asked in return as he lent his hand while bowing, imitating like he’s a prince in one fairy tale with a smile on his face.

“We shall.” Shouyou answered, following his lead and  taking his hand.

Good thing that he heedfully gave his attention to their dance class and he naturally guided Shouyou, although he might admit, Shouyou was indeed a fast learner. Watching her all this time amaze him. It’s like there’s a force that attracts him no matter what he does, he’ll end up looking at her.  From near to far.

In the middle of his thought, he hears Shouyou mumbling about something. This is one of her habits when she feels shy to ask or too shy to say something that she ends up talking to herself as if she was exchanging secrets to the wind.

So he takes the initiative to ask her, “Are you okay?” He might as well apply it to himself because right now, Shouyou’s eyes were straightly gazing at him.

“Atsumu-san.. Do you like someone?”

He didn’t answer. Pondering if he heard the question right.

“Do you like someone?” the girl asked again after she shook her head. Like he’s so stupid that he didn’t understand the first question.

He suddenly stops dancing but still his hands on her waist. Feels like he was frozen and he was unable to speak up.

He tried to inhale the air that surrounds them as he answered, “I–” stuttering, “I.. do.. Like someone.”

“You do?” she asked, prolonging his misery.

“Yeah.. Why do you sound so surprised? Of course I like someone, I’m a human dummy. ”

Raising his left brow, wanting to squeeze her cheeks. Begging in his mind that the girl would stop her silly questions because he might admit it.

“Do I know her?” asking with her head tilted and her eyes reflecting her soul through the dim light.

“Ye—ah. You know her so much as much as I am dismayed.” he answered, indulging the feelings he kept inside with the thoughts of how much longer he could hide it.

“I see. Very well then, I won’t ask any further. I’m just curious what type of girl you like. Sorry for being nosy.” Shouyou apologetically said, letting out an awkward chuckle.

Will it be a lot easier if he’ll just admit it? Fuck the rejection. He could just pretend nothing happened after it. Will it be alright if he’ll give her a hint that it was her?

“Hmm.” he mumbled as he spun her once, continuing their dance as he said, “What type of girl do I like? Well, she’s very optimistic.. Sometimes clumsy but oftentimes resilient. I adore her unruly hair, I like hearing her laugh. The way she giggled. She’s so kind but I wish that she was somehow only kind to me. She’s so small that I just wanna put her inside my pocket.”

Pretty elaborate if anyone may say. He’s getting amazingly good at describing someone positively which he never did before. Since everything that comes out of his mouth was utterly crap or bluntly true that other people can’t handle it or he was just plainly trying so hard to be dislikeable or just him being insensitive. You get the picture right?

“I don’t think I know someone like that Atsumu-san.” She replied with obvious confusion on her face but providing him a gentle smile like she’s satisfied with his answer.

He chuckled a little not because the girl is so dense but because he somehow finds it cute when Shouyou tilts her head like a puppy.

“Well, maybe you’ll get to know her very soon.” He replied back, giving Shouyou another whirl. He thought maybe he could ask her as well?

He wanted to laugh as if they were playing a tricky mind game.

He clears his throat as he asks, “What about you? Do you like someone now??”

Remembering how Shouyou told some of their classmates that he didn’t have someone whom she could say that she likes nor does she have some thoughts about it.

Shouyou smiled at him as she replied, “Yeah.. I do like someone now.”

“What kind of guy is he? Not that I care but since we’re already talking about it, I might as well ask you too. It’s a fair trade.” he said, winked not to be obvious

“Hmm” Shouyou hums, copying him from before as she giggled because he noticed and continued, “Very well then.. He is.. he’s reliable. Contrary to what people say, I really think that he is nice. He often says the opposite of what he thinks and acts the opposite of what people expect. I really think it’s funny whenever he picks a fight with his brother and… I really wanted to let him know how awesome and amazing he was as a whole person. I’m afraid that he wasn’t aware of it.” Not that he is trying to get his hopes up, but what if she’s trying to give him a hint as well? Will that be illegal?

“Do I know him? He sounds like a jerk to me.” He questioned.

The music suddenly stopped as if it is not just him but the whole surroundings was waiting for her answer.  He can feel his heartbeat going crazy.

But when Shouyou answered, he didn’t hear her because of the sudden fireworks display.

‘What the actual fuck?’ Is fate shitting him right now? Just why? He thought to himself.

He couldn’t read Shouyou’s lips because the room was dark and only the fire from before and fireworks right now gave the room a little light.

“What was that? Sorry, I didn’t hear.” He asked as he tried to point on his ear, painting that he couldn’t hear her.

Shouyou chuckled as she replied, “Sorry, it will be my little secret for now.”

“Hey! That’s unfa-” He said, trying to protest but his phone rang. It was Osamu. He didn’t want to answer it but Shouyou told him to pick it up. “Great timing asshole.” he greeted sarcastically.

Osamu laughs at the other end of the line, knowing exactly what he means. He called just to tell him that they are on their way so if he was doing something, he might as well do it faster. Yeah yeah geez thanks for reminding him, not that it matters anyway since Osamu already ruined it.

“Samu and Rintarou were on their way to open the door. It’s about time. That idiot probably danced to a bunch of girls. What an asshole.” he informed Shoyou, who is now looking at the fireworks display. Not listening to him at one bit. She asked with her eyes locked to the flower in the sky, “Isn’t it beautiful Atsumu-san?.”

He answered, now looking at her instead of the fireworks, “Yeah. So Beautiful.”

…………………………………..

“Did you have fun Shou-chan?” Katsunagi tease while they were seated at the bench. Normally she would have called out her friend for teasing her but saying that she didn’t have fun would be an insult to Atsumu, “As a matter of fact, I did. I actually have a ton of fun.” She answered with a smile on her face.

She can still remember that night. The way Atsumu guided her if not gracefully but carefully while dancing. She wanted  to brag about it but no one really knows how she feels about the blonde guy beside her friend, Katsunagi.

“You did ah? Well, that’s a good thing. I was worried that Atsumu would be a total jerk around you. So, did you manage to confess?” her friend asked as she picked up sausage in her bento.

She did but as lame as it may sound, Atsumu didn’t hear her and there’s no way she could say it again. She almost thought that she would collapse. She could feel her knees and hands shaking and the sudden rising of her body heat. It’s suffocating but not in the bad way and with all honesty, she actually couldn’t believe that she was able to even ask Atsumu to dance. Knowing that the guy's attitude is prickly.

She enjoys Atsumu's company. Maybe she was just being skeptical or delusional, but there’s no moment when the guy tried to push her away nor did he show her how jerk he could be. Yeah, Atsumu might be an expert in speaking pure sarcasm but no one knows how he is whenever he is with her. Not to assume, she might be just as lucky as the others who got to know him and speak with him up close.

So back to Katsunagi-san’s question, “No, I didn’t. The timing was off and I don’t know if I should push him into the corner when I know that he likes someone else.” she answered with clear intuition.

Her friend looked at her with a surprise look or even gave her a puzzle look on her face.

“What? Why are you giving me a look like that?”

“Nothing. It's just that I really thought that dumbass likes you too. Did you ask him who?”

“No. Why would I?”

Yeah, why would she? She didn’t like to pry with other people's business and if Atsumu did like her, he would have told her that moment but he didn’t. Did he? She’ll be lying if she says that it didn’t make her feel sad  but imposing her feelings and wanting it to be returned is out of the question.

That is why.. She’ll be content admiring him from afar and will support him no matter what.

Her friend then again looks at her as if she wanted to roll her eyes 180 degrees but just gave her a shrug in return.

It would have been just another day but then someone left her a note in her locker. She pauses for a while, thinking if she’ll read it or not. Though she might have an idea of what the note contains but still wouldn’t it be rude if she doesn't read it? She sighs as she reads it. Someone is asking her to come to the back of the auditorium and said that he’ll wait for her. There’s no name so she didn’t have an idea to whom the note came from.

She did what the note told her to do. She did go and she saw someone familiar but barely had a conversation with. Attempting to back out, the guy called her out, “Hinata-senpai. I’m glad you came.”

She fakes a smile as she tries to remember who the guy is.

“So.. I bet you know what this means right?” the guy nervously asked, it was obvious to his voice that he’s nervous, not given a chance to answer, the guy continued as he bowed his head, “Hinata-senpai, will you go out with me?”

‘Ah.. right this again.’ she mumbled to herself. She was about to answer when she saw Atsumu staring at her from the window of their classroom.

“Ahm, Sayuki-kun? Right?” she remembered, he’s a freshman from the music club but asked just so she could confirm it.

The guy nodded, still wanting to hear her answer, “I’m happy to know that you considered and asked me but.. I’m sorry..”

The guy lifted his head as he flinch his hands in the air, telling her that it’s alright that he apologized for not considering her feelings first. Adding that he just wanted to at least let her know but then asked, “Do you like someone Hinata-senpai?”

She looked to where Atsumu was, smiled and then went back to the guy and she answered, “Yeah. I do like ‘someone.’

“He must be nice.” the guy said, expressing how lucky that person was.

“He is.”

She might have felt exhausted after that encounter so she decided to sit on a nearby bench but to her surprise, Atsumu gently poke the top of her head with a bottle of water as the guy said, “It’s a bit hot today so try not to be dehydrated.”

It does feel a bit hot today. She took the bottle out of Atsumu’s hand and said, “Thank you, Atsumu-san.”

“Any time.” he answered as he smiled and then took a seat beside her.

It’s been a while since she got a chance to be alone with Atsumu and not trying to be awkward, she felt like the gap between him and her was disappearing inch by inch.

Maybe their friends, maybe their more or maybe is just her imagination but she can definitely feel his stares just a little too long and it makes her start to wonder.. They can call her crazy but she thinks he feels it too… Maybe she just wants to get next to him.

Does Atsumu like her too? Could she get her hopes up? Will it be alright ?

Her chest started to feel tight and she wonders if it is because it’s summer.

“Atsumu-san..” She called out, trying to grab the blonde’s attention but then she was caught off guard by the young guy's question.

Not looking at her, eyes in the sky and hands in his pocket, “Do you think you could like someone like me?”

She looks at him, maybe waiting for him to take his question back or to say that she should forget what he just asked but Atsumu didn’t utter a single word. Patiently waiting for her to answer.

Time seems to stand still, like the sun and the clouds stopping their rotation at the center of the earth. Tense in the air but butterflies in her stomach, swirling the words in her mind that she hopes she would be able to say as she muttered, “Who wouldn’t like you Atsumu-san?”

Chapter 4

Summary:

“Ya know..” Osamu said, grabbing his attention as he continued, “I don’t think Hinata-san dislikes you.”

He pretended that he didn't hear that comment and continued to eat his bread. He couldn’t care less what Osamu thinks.

“Just ask her. You have nothing to lose and besides, we are all gonna graduate soon even if she rejects you, you won’t need to worry that you’ll see her next year. Right?” Osamu added.

“Oh shut up already. I have never dated anyone before so give me a break.” He responded, almost sounding apathetically pleading.

Osamu almost choked on his onigiri trying not to laugh at his statement. People tend to assume that Atsumu is an expert in the dating field since he is popular despite his attitude and personality being a total trash but what they don’t know, he never really confessed to anyone nor had interest in dating before Shouyou.

“Fuck you.” He cursed Osamu.

Notes:

I'm really taking my time writing this chapter so here I am wondering, "What the hell am I doing with my life?"

The slow burn is killing me!!! But I wanted to see Atsumu on a new perspective. You all get me? Nah?? Okay.. That's fine with me. Still, I would love and will be really grateful if you guys spare me a minute of your time to read this or else.. I'll cry.. JK! but seriously....

Don't come for me! I know some scenario included here is technically not necessary but I really doing my best to add some elements and if I find this cringe when I wake up, I probably gonna edit this.

Just do me a favor, try to enjoy this chapter! <3

Chapter Text

Remember when he said that he didn’t believe in that thing called, “love at first glance” bullshit? Well, does anyone remember when he said, “I don’t believe in love at all” bullshit? He is not just a clown, he is the entire circus.

Why did he ask that stupid question? He could have just shut his fucking mouth but then he didn’t. Putting himself in such a predicament.

Maybe if he pretended he didn’t hear her question back, he wouldn’t take it the wrong way. But then… There she is.. Sitting beside him, waiting for his answer as if he already knew that there’s no way she wouldn’t like someone like him. He meant, yeah.. Why would someone like her like someone like him? He couldn’t find any reasons and it’s not like everyone around them likes him, not even as a person.

But between his thoughts, Shouyou finally broke the silence, it’s like his answer is long overdue, “Well, that’s a little awkward..” the girl said, trying to laugh it off as she stood up, swaying some part of her skirt.

Looking away as he scratched the back of his neck, “Yeah, I.. I’m just not used to hearing such words.” he said, not trying to gain sympathy or anything. He doesn't really hear people say good things about him, which he didn’t mind, he was used to it.

Shouyou hums as if she was either against or agreed to his statement. She turns around, flips her hair away from her face, right at that moment, he swears that Shouyou is pretty as a picture. With sincerity in her voice, she said, “I think.. People only see what they want to see. They only hear what they want to hear. It’s not that you are unlikeable, Atsumu-san. What I think is that, You are scared. So you push people away before they are given a chance to actually get to know you and I think you are pretty easy to get along with.”

He was left dumbfounded, not able to mutter a single word. Amazed how Shouyou could speak her mind and tell him things he wanted to hear. This is the first time he actually feels accepting such grant words from someone without him thinking that they were patronizing him.

“You think so? That’s the first.” He replied, grinning his teeth, trying not to sound lame.

Shouyou chuckles and he didn’t think he could get tired of it.

“Yeah. But we should head out now. I’m pretty sure your team is waiting for you. Don’t wanna take so much of your time.” the girl said, not knowing if Atsumu will be given a chance, he will stay. Maybe talk about some random things in the heat of the summer wave.

“Sure. Thanks for giving me your presence, your majesty.” he said, teasing her out as he bowed like a lowly knight who is head over heels to the heir of the throne.

Shouyou laughs as she tries to mimic his gesture, raising her hand, waving him goodbye.

He watches her back as her shadow gently vanishes as he thinks to himself, ‘Geez, what the hell was that?’ letting out a little curve on his lips.

…………………………………..

As she left Atsumu-san, she tried to hide in the corner of the vending machine. Holding both of her cheeks, tainting red all over it. Her heart couldn’t stop beating as she muttered to herself, ‘What was that? Geez!’

She really was embarrassed and she couldn’t imagine that she actually said those words. Like, it’s only natural and it feels like she could say everything she wanted to say if it is Atsumu that is listening.

She could feel her heart beating and tried to look stealthy to where Atsumu was still standing.

Even though she is not daring to tell that she likes Atsumu, she couldn’t help but to let off a smile on her face as she clenched her chest. Thinking to herself ‘See? This day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.’

A few days later, she was sure that she saw Atsumu at the back of the school yard. So she went back and sure enough, there’s Atsumu standing, looking like he was waiting for someone to come.

Maybe she should try to approach him but when she was about to do that, Atsumu was approached by a girl, who looked like she was out of breath running just to get there. It is not her hobby to eavesdrop on someone else's conversation so she should run along and try to forget that this thing happened. That is what she wanted to do but why is she hiding like she did something wrong and unable to walk away?

Maybe she was curious? This is the first time some girl tried her luck to meet him up privately.

But no.. She knows this is wrong. As she was about to leave, she finally heard the girl speak.

“Atsumu-senpai. I.. I like you.. Will you go out with me?”

She felt her heart crashing already even without hearing the blonde guy's response and she thought it was silly since there was nothing between them. So it doesn't matter if Atsumu goes out with someone who likes him.

She hated herself for how cowardly she was, could she have told Atsumu that she likes him at least, will Atsumu look at her differently? All this time she thought she is okay with Atsumu not liking her since all she wishes for Atsumu is to be happy and to finally acknowledge that he is too precious as well.

‘Ah, I feel like crying,’ Shoyou whispered.

But then she heard Atsumu answer, “Sorry, you are not my type.”

“Then tell me what your type is, Atsumu-senpai, I could change myself.”

And the blonde guy replied, “That won’t do and I already like someone.”

“Is that Hinata-senpai?”

Atsumu hummed and said, “Who knows? Maybe or maybe not.. Regardless, I appreciate that you admire me but I bet you deserve someone better. Anyway, goodluck.”

Atsumu left and all Shouyou could do was to cover her lips, looking so confused on what Atsumu had just said. She thinks that Atsumu could have easily denied it instead of providing a word play which she is not a fan of.

A while ago she felt like crying but now she still feels like crying but not because she is sad but because she almost feels relief that Atsumu rejected someone’s confession.

“What are you doing over there? Are you playing hide’n’seek?” someone asked and she was frantically shocked when the voice came from someone whom she knew very well...

“Eh? A..Atsu…mu-san?” She gasps.

“What? You look like you have seen a ghost.” Atsumu commented as he looked from right to left in thought that she was with someone.

Shouyou really thought that Atsumu had already left, “Ahh.. Me?? Hmmm” she muttered, obviously creating an excuse in her head.

Atsumu chuckled as he patted her head, “Go home already. It’s getting dark..” he paused for a moment and then continued, “ And… be safe, Shou-chan.”

She watched Atsumu finally walk away and head to the gymnasium, put her hand on her head where Atsumu patted him, remembering the words that escaped from his lips, ‘be safe, Shou-chan.’

Clenching in her chest, as she whispered to herself,  “ Idiot.”

…………………………………..

“Don’t tell me you haven’t confessed yet?” Osamu asked as he stuffed his mouth with an onigiri.

Yeah he hasn't but who cares? He wanted to retort but doing so will result in unnecessary discussion so he answered, “Yeah. The timing was off.” as he munches on his bread pan.

Osamu had the audacity to roll his eyes which he finds so annoying especially if he knows that his twin is holding back in saying something he knows that makes sense or will make him feel like a total loser. Osamu knew that he was just making a poorly made up excuse and he hates to actually admit it.

Osamu fakingly wiped some tears away from his eyes from laughing too much and then replied, “That is the loserist word if loserist even a word that I had heard from you. Well, suit yourself. I’m just tired seeing your face looking so frustrated, it’s like I’m facing myself in the mirror.”

“Yeah? Whatever. I have my own pace.. I’ll handle it once I’m ready.” He muttered.

Osamu shrugged and continued minding his business which is eating. Atsumu sighs and also resumes eating.

He could probably do it, he just needed a little push and the perfect moment. That is why he thought he could have some alone time with Shouyou during their school trip. Their last trip as a highschool student.

Luckily he got to join the group where Shouyou is assigned so it will be alot easier for him to do it. Hopefully he could actually do it.

It is the day of the school trip, and Atsumu is already seated in the fourth row near the window and unconcerned about his surroundings. Looking out the window, he saw Shouyou handing her suitcase to the teacher assigned to them, putting it inside the bus storage. As soon as Shouyou entered the bus, he instantly fixed his posture and tried to pretend that he’s listening to music on his earpods.

He asked Katsunagi to let Shouyou sit beside him, which Katsunagi quickly approved. Normally, Katsunagi will automatically decline everything that he and Osamu suggested saying that their opinions or suggestions are trash. He didn’t mind since it was really trash and they actually like to annoy their poor class representative. When he asked why she quickly approved it, the four eyed girl simply answered, ‘ Just because.’

Shouyou approached him, still pretending he didn’t hear nor see her.

“Atsumu-san?” Shouyou called out but when the girl noticed he was not responding, Shouyou poke his cheeks which made him flustered as he pretended to chuckle a little, removing his earpods and answered, “Shou-chan, didn’t notice that you were already here. Sorry about that.”

Shouyou smiled at him as the girl put his backpack below and took her seat. Atsumu somehow thought that it would be more comfortable for her to sit near the window instead so he asked, “You wanna swap seats? Or Are you fine sitting there? It's just that I thought you wouldn’t be able to sightsee later.”

“Is that alright?” Shouyou asked back, too shy to take his offer.

“Yeah. It’s fine.” He answered as he stood up, getting out to let Shouyou take his seat and once they were settled, Shouyou happily sighs and said, “It is really nice that I got to be seated next to you.

He stuck up looking a little flustered as he didn’t want to misunderstand Shouyou’s remark. There’s a million words stuck on his head and waiting to be said but he's afraid that his tongue would stumble. He always felt like he could fly just by looking in her eyes. He starts to think that he is crazy. Poor him. He wonders when he will be able to tell how much she means to him.

Shouyou fell asleep, he thought the girl probably woke up too early to prepare so it is only natural that she gets sleepy. Not him, he is wide awake. If there is one thing that someone could compliment something about him it's never wanting to procrastinate. He always sets everything or does something ahead of time because he hates being rushed. Well, that is one of the reasons why he couldn’t sleep, the other reason why he couldn’t catch even a wink of sleep is that Shouyou is beside him, sleeping nonchalantly beside him.

Calm the fuck down.’ He told himself but then he felt Shouyou’s head over his shoulder. Side eyeing if the girl is still asleep.

Osamu has the nerve to look back on his seat, in an attempt to ask if he had extra earpods that he could borrow, almost ruining the moment. The good thing though, Osamu knows how to butt out when he needs to even without him opening his mouth.

It took a while before Shouyou woke up that he almost couldn’t feel his shoulder. When the girl realized that she used his shoulder as a pillow, Shouyou panicked so he pretended that he was asleep and just woke up.

Shouyou stuttering said, “I..m sooo sorry.. Atsumu-san.” as she taps his shoulder checking if she drools on him or something, “No drool?”

He chuckled and answered, “No drool.”

“My head is probably heavy.” Shouyou concluded, fidgeting her fingers.

“Nope.. You are light as a feather. It would be weird if your head is bigger than your body, So don’t worry.” he teasingly said as he let out a little laugh.

“Mooohhh… Stop teasing me.” Shouyou poutingly said.

They finally reach the hotel where the whole students will stay. The guide instructed them to return to the main lobby to discuss the next activity.

On their way to their room, Osamu looked at him like he was trying to judge him so he muttered, “What? Just spit it out before I punch you.”

“What are you so grumpy about? Geez. Did you enjoy the bus ride, At..su…mu kun?” Osamu was obviously teasing at this point. He shot a fiercely gaze on his twin which Osamu quickly animatedly dodge as he added, “Don’t be a sour puss. I’m just teasing ya. Well, goodluck to your venture later. Hope it will be fruitful since I’m tired looking at your pathetic face.”

Although his twin words are a pure language of annoyance, he knows Osamu means well.

To be fair, he also hopes that everything goes exactly how he plans it but if that is too much to ask, he hopes that everything somehow turns out well.

After putting their things in their designated rooms, as instructed, they all go back to the main lobby for itinerary discussions. They will have free time on their third day to go to the places they wanted to go that are not included in their itinerary and buy souvenirs.

He looked at Shouyou who looked so happy and excited with his curiosity, he asked, “You look ecstatic Shou-chan. Are you that excited about this trip?”

Shouyou nodded but with a hint of embarrassment and said, “Tokyo is really different from where I grew up. In Miyagi, all you can see were mountains and trees but it’s not like I’m ungrateful you know.. But.. I always wanted to visit Harujuku. That’s all.” as she tries to let off a smile.

“Then why do you look so embarrassed right now? There’s nothing wrong with that. If you ask me, I also wanted to visit Miyagi..” he said, acting nonchalant.

“Why?” Shouyou asked back, tilting her head.

“I like to see real foxes. I hear that Miyagi has a village where foxes are free to roam.” he answered.

Shouyou laughed a little as she said, “You know, you kinda look like a fox Atsumu-san.”

“Is that a compliment or are you trying to tease me?”

“Whatever suits you.. But.. is it definitely a compliment? I think?” Shouyou responded and then giggled. Making his heart beat faster and loud again, ‘this again’’ as if his heart is another person itself. Can’t think of anything to say, he simply muttered, “Is that so?” smirk and then ruffle her hair.

They proceeded with the rest of the activities and programs and he barely had a moment to have an alone time with Shouyou which frustrates him so much. Just how the hell will he do it when Shouyou was surrounded by people? And it’s their last day in Tokyo tomorrow.

He sat down on the couch in front of the vending machine, leaning in with a towel on his face as he thought to himself, ‘ this sucks.’

“Atsumu-san?” A familiar voice called him, “are you okay?”

When he removed the towel on his face, he saw Shouyou facing him. He quickly got up and answered, “Yuh sure.. I am good. What's up?” Scratching the back of his head.

“Oh sorry didn’t mean to startle you. I just thought you fell asleep.” Shouyou explained as she flinched her hands in the air.

“It’s that what I look like?” he questioned as he laughed. Shouyou nodded but looked flustered as he stood up and added, “You should get back now to your room. It’s almost curfew. If you get caught, you're gonna miss your chance to visit Harajuku.”

“What about you? Do you have plans for tomorrow?” The girl asked.

“Nahh. Nothing in particular. Probably be stuck with Samu and Rintan.” He answered looking so disappointed and annoyed. In the back of his mind, ‘just ask her! Why won’t you ask her?!.’

He was about to leave but then Shouyou held the hem of his jacket and then stutteringly said with a face flushed, “About that.. Do you wanna tag along? I mean.. Of course if you don’t have a prior plan.. Well.. I’m just thinking if.. You want to be my tour guide? Or maybe not..” letting him go as Shouyou continued, “Forget abou-”

“Sure.. I’ll be your tour guide.” He answered, cutting Shouyou off, afraid that she’ll take it back.

Shouyou’s face lit up but still painted by a beautiful shade of pink as she said, “Really? You sure?!”

“Yah.. I mean.. If you don’t have any plans to take it back…” He answered, still trying to act cool.

“No take backs here. So.. See you tomorrow then?” Shouyou asked with a smile on her face.

“Yeah.. See you.”

As he went back to their room, he couldn’t remove the stupid smiling face that he’s wearing. Osamu and Rintarou look at him, probably thinking he must be going crazy. He probably is but that does matter? No, for all he knows he will be spending his whole day tomorrow with Shouyou so he might as well pour everything he got.
