February Air

Summary:

Femslash February Day 9: Sweater Weather
who didn't steal-or borrow-their girlfriends' clothes? Montana wasn't immune to the luxuries and simple pleasure of knowing she was wearing something that belonged to Meghan.

Notes:

I think we should all consider this ship for a moment and then consider it again. Thank you.

Work Text:

Meghan sighed, drumming her fingers against her thigh in no particular tune. There was a small seed of regret blossoming in her stomach. Her strong, nagging, desire to spend one of their-her and Montana's-last weekends together, before the Spring semester started, was making her uncharacteristically impatient. When it came to her girlfriend that was.
Why had she chosen not to join Montana in the shower? Besides the glaring fact that if anyone were to walk into the sorority house and find them it would be hard to come up with any excuse that didn't seem like they were fooling around. After-all, wasn't that what most recent high school graduates entering college were guilty of? Looking for a good time.

Montana promised she wouldn't be long. But according to Meghan's phone, that she was checking just moments after closing it-like opening and closing the fridge as if that would suddenly sprout a different outcome-okay in reality it hadn't been that long. But she'd be lying if she said relativity and reality weren't going through a disconnect.
It was just scraping past half an hour; which was short considering Montana often found herself getting lost in her own world once she stepped under the rejuvenating stream of hot running water. It often left Meghan joking about her being a mermaid in another life. Always managing to get a goofy smile out of her girlfriend. It was silly, stupid even, but so very sweet.

A side of Meghan most people weren't lucky enough to see.

It wasn't like she was some wicked witch of the west or anything. She simply had an aversion to people. Especially when they tested her very thin patience.

Meghan let out a puff of air, eyes sweeping over the bedroom that Montana had all to herself. It resembled a watermelon with its many shades of pinks and soft pastel greens. Two corkboards hung side by side on the wall just above the bed that sat snug against one of the four corners. They were tacked with ticket stubs, astronomy pictures and photos that made it clear Meghan was her girlfriend; not just a very close friend who lavished in a very keen sense of lacking personal space.

Glow in the dark stars that came in an array of sizes clung to the ceiling. Staring up at them had a delicate smile pulling at Meghan's lips. Thinking fondly on how excited Montana was when she showed them to her; which had her promising to help her put them up the following day. They were actually one of the first decorations to touch the surface of Montana's new sorority dorm.
Though Meghan still didn't get the whole sorority lifestyle thing, she wasn't about to be an absolute downer on Montana about it when it seemed to make her happy. The prospect of a place that gave the feeling of community. A close knit friend group like they had back at Rosehill.

Meghan sat up from her dazed star gazing at the sound of the door, a bemused smirk settling on her lips. "I was wondering where that got to." Eyebrow quirked.
Her eyes swept over Montana. Hair damp; towel dried but not combed through, framing her face in untamed wavy fashion. Dressed in one of Meghan's soft sweaters-a touch oversized-the barely there lavender boxer shorts poking out from underneath.

Montana looked down, pulling on the fabric so she could better examine the design, cheeks brushed with pink at being caught. Though it was inevitable. Who didn't steal...or borrow...their girlfriends clothes?

"I was planning on returning it." She let the fabric fall loose around her torso once more, "eventually."
Meghan let out an airy laugh of affection, because she wasn't mad; how could she be when Montana looked so perfect? She crawled to the foot of the bed, putting herself closer to the door; and in relation closer to Montana. "Come here," she purred, eyes half-lidded as they looked Montana up and down.
"I know that tone," Montana giggled, taking gentle care in slowly wrapping her arms around Meghan's neck.

"As much as this look suits you Monty," Meghan ran her fingers along the fabric of the Ghost face sweater, "you might be a few months behind."
She let her fingers find their way underneath the fabric; cool skin meeting skin still warmed from a hot shower. Making Montana shudder as she blindly traced up and down.
"I actuality think it was you who told me Halloween was year round?" Montana tilted her head, blonde and brunette strands falling with the motion.

Meghan rolled her eyes, leaning back and pulling Montana down onto the bed with her, causing a soft shriek that transformed into giggles. "I think we've been spending far too much time together, you're really becoming a smart-ass babe," she couldn't hold her serious tone, a grin spreading on her face. She readjusted herself, letting Montana lay more comfortably against her body while also making it easier for her to crane her neck to plant a kiss against Montana's tanned cheek.

"What are these sorority girls going to do with you." She sighed happily into damp hair.
