Work Text:
Soft sunshine fell trough the creaks in the curtain and landed directly in Smough's eyes. "Ugh, is it already that late?"
With a grumble, he tried to get out of the bed, only for his legs to deny him his commands. He looked down to find a pool of white hair spreaded evenly over his chest and chaught a glimps of scales around his legs from under the blanket.
A smile formed on his lips. Smough gently moved his husbands head off his chest, threw the blanket off himself and got into a sitting position. Careful not to use too much force, he began untangling the snakes from his legs, soflty grasping their warm bodies and sliding them off.
Unfortunately for him, his plan didn´t work out as when he was done with one leg and moved to the other one, he felt the snakes gripping his leg again.
"Damn, I know you like snuggling but I need to get up," he grumbled. One of the snake´s head popped up and looked at him with utter disapointment and sadness, the likes of which could only be rivaled by a child loosing their favourite candy.
Smough stared back, trying his best not to give in. The snake stared at him for a while, then quickly slipped their tounge out and in again before returning to stare at the half-giant, seemingly expecting an answer. Said half-giant let out a sigh.
"You know i dont understand you," he said, exhausted. Another Snake raised their head to look at him, again slipping their tounge in and out.
Smough felt his legs being gripped even tighter, to the point where it started hurting. The snakes still stared at him, demanding an answer to whatever question they had asked.
"Listen, I know you are not the smartest but after all this time even you must have realised that I dont understand you. In fact, the only person who understands you is sleeping right there!" he sighed frustrated, pointing at the pile of white hair lying next to him.
"And I would prefer to get up and get ready without waking him up, okay?"
The Snakes looked even sadder now.
Smough turned his gaze towards the windows, watching as the sun slowly climbed over the roofs of Anor Londo.
"Ornstein will kill me if I don't show up soon," he mumbled.
Then, an idea struck him.
Turning towards the Snakes he said, "If you let me get up I will get you breakfast!"
Suddenly, six more heads were raised, staring at him happily while the room was filled with the sound of tounges sliding out and in and satisfied hissing.
The grip on his legs however, was just as firm as before.
Smough sighed. It seemed Gwyndolin was right about the intelligence of his scaled friends.
"I can´t get you food if you dont let me go," he exclaimed even more exhausted.
The hissing turned angry.
In his head, he considered if he just should lie down again and wait till Ornstein dragged him out of here by his ears. At the moment, it seemed like the path of least resistance.
He was just about to do that, when he felt something move beside him. Turning his head over, he looked into the golden eyes of his husband.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," he smiled, somewhat relived that at least he didn't have to worry about waking him up anymore.
Gwyndolin's pupils returned into the snake-like state they usually were as he slowly sat up, his long hair falling over his slender shoulders.
"Morning," he said, obviously still half asleep.
He rubbed his scales around his eyes as he asked confused, "I tought you had guard duty today?"
Smough let out a snort.
"Well, I would be there if your little friends would let me go," he pointed at the eight heads that still stared at him angrily.
Gwyndolin followed his movement and let out a sigh.
"You will let him go or you won't get breakfast today."
Smough had never seen someone looking so betrayed in his entire life. Then, he felt the grip around his legs slowly loosen, until he could move them again.
"Quick, go before they change their mind", Gwyndolin said, a small smile on his lips.
Laughing, Smough kissed him on the cheek.
"If I didn´t know it better, it sounds like you want me to leave."
"I just dont want a discussion with Ornstein about how I destroy your work ethic."
"Sure, sure!" Smough said as he got dressed.
When he was finished, he turned around one last time.
"See you at dinner, darling!"
With that, he closed the door behind him and made his way to the throne room, knowing that he was in for a long preaching.
