Pools

Summary:

A long-form poem I wrote. Inspired by late-night thoughts that flowed into my head in the wee hours of the morning for several nights in a row until I finally sat down and wrote it out.
If you dig it, please leave a Kudos!

Work Text:

You will find me at the wading pools.
When you close your eyes and the darkness floods your vision.
Settle your gaze and the smooth muscle of your eyes
will find newness in the shade.
Subtle colors and shapes form. It's all still shade of varying black,
but somehow, you know that swirl in the corner of your vision
is supposed to be blue. Red. Green. Purple. Unknown
hues that have no need for names
here.
You will find me at the wading pools.
When all the nameless colors and shapes coalesce into a pond and
as you look into it, you find yourself melting down,
down,
down,
down - into the depths.
Notice how this pond has no bottom? Just deeper shades of
colors so dark they appear black but shimmer ever so lightly
in the no-light of this place.
You will find me at the wading pools.
Where down into the soft ink it narrows and expands repeatedly.
Like the lungs of an immense creature born before the
big bang. Before the concept of light and dark were born.
Notice this leviathan's lungs match your breathing - or you are
matching its own. Unified breath, pulling you - leading you -
to the sea where al the world's breath and darkness and unknown hues
flow.
You will find me at the wading pools.
Deep down in the depths of the shared lungs of the sleeping
Leviathan. Swim down to where all things were, before things
were able to be things. All closed eyes sharing the same
reservoir - all colors and shapes calling to you. To me.

I will find you at the wading pools.
