Work Text:

Four hundred years. It took four hundred years for Vox Akuma to finally step out of the shadows and into the light. After getting humiliated and feeling, quite frankly, embarrassed , he finally found a way to grow his clan again… and sure, it was a weird way to regrow his clan, but it worked. This same demon, who had only felt a deep hatred for his, now deceased, foe for the last four hundred years, started feeling something else when he met one of his, soon to be, dearest friends.

Ike Eveland caught Vox’s attention almost immediately. He was more talkative than Vox could’ve imagined considering the fact that he’s a novelist, but he didn’t mind. He thought that it was… endearing. Vox latched on to Ike, curious about everything that Ike did or said. He never knew how to describe the feeling either, not until he realized that the feeling in his stomach was butterflies, the same butterflies that his fans and clan felt for him. Not until he realized that he was craving Ike’s loving attention, even if he kept quiet and tried to suppress it. He also realized, at some point, that he wants to visit Ike. The voice demon wants to be able to touch him. He wants to know what it feels like.

Vox would flirt with the other members of Luxiem on stream before, mainly Mysta, but he knew it was different with Ike. He knew it was the real deal. He knows it, he just doesn’t know how to confess to people, so he flirts instead. Sometimes it’s subtle, and sometimes it isn’t. Vox has also told the novelist that he loves him multiple times. He’s called him cute as well, hoping that Ike would get the idea. The demon knows Ike isn’t that dense, and even if he was, Vox would find it cute. He knows that Ike hears him whenever he flirts, and he either gets ignored or dodged. Sometimes he thinks this means that he still has a chance with the man, and others, he would feel completely hopeless, thinking the novelist just sees him as a friend.

He was feeling in the middle of both options, doing work and taking short breaks, watching YouTube videos to pass the time since his stream had ended about an hour ago. He then got a notification that Ike had started his stream. Of course he clicked on the notif, why wouldn’t he? He enjoyed watching the talented man's streams, even if he did feel sort of… meh? Yes, he felt meh about his feelings right now. Of course, he got excited when Ike finally started, and ended up getting distracted by the man. He wants to visit him, of course he does, he wants to visit all the members of Luxiem. He wants to touch him, and not in an inappropriate way, he wants to touch him gently, almost as if he’s afraid that Ike will break. He wants to kiss him, and he wants it to be passionate, he wants Ike to feel how much he loves him from one kiss.

‘I love you Ike <3’ is what Vox ended up sending in chat during his love-drunk haze, and soon started to panic as he realized what he sent. What if the novelist just decided to ignore him again? What if he said that he doesn’t love him back, on stream, in front of more than one thousand people . He was panic-stricken. He was about to be humiliated and embarrassed for a good amount of people to see again . However, to Vox’s surprise, Ike replied verbally with, “Aww, I love you too, Vox.” The voice demon didn’t know if he said it in a friendly way or a loving way, but it didn’t matter to him at that moment. Ike finally said ‘I love you’ back. Vox didn’t care about the chat, which ended up going completely wild when Ike said it back, saying that Vox won against them. He didn’t care about the work he had to do to make both the Kindred and himself happy. He only cared about Ike and the serotonin boost he got from Ike saying that. But little did he know, Ike felt blood rush to his cheeks. They were both completely head over heels for each other, even if one of them didn’t admit it. It took four hundred years for one man to fall in love, and out of all those years, this was the happiest year in his life.

Notes:

I wrote this while feeling very meh at school today.
