Work Text:

“Lance!” Asmo sang and draped his arms around the human. “Do you want to go to a party with me tonight? It’s supposed to be a lot of fun!”

Lance patted Asmo’s arm and shook his head. “Can’t, I promised Barbatos I’d help him.”

“How boring!” Asmo sighed dramatically. He moved so he was standing in front of Lance. His bottom lip was sticking out as he mustered up crocodile tears. “What am I supposed to do without you at the party? If you help Barbatos clean, it’ll be a waste of a perfectly good Friday night!”

Lance shook his head and started to lead the way home from RAD. “Asmo, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I’d rather have a boring night in than go out to a party.”

The Avatar of Lust groaned but followed Lance. “How are we besties?” Lance just shrugged, not bothering to put too much thought into it.

“A boring night?” a voice uttered quietly as emerald eyes watched the pair leave the school grounds. “That simply won’t do.”

His feet quickly maneuvered up the steps to the demon lord’s castle. Just as his knuckles were to graze against the door, it slowly opened. Lance tilted his head, bits of hair falling in front of his eyes. Carefully, he peered inside. “Barbatos?” he called out. His eyes trailed the shadows closing in the entryway before they landed to where there was a flickering light.

Lance slipped off his shoes before he cautiously made his way closer to the light. There, candles lined the path. The flames lit up the blue rose petals adorning the ground. Lance bit his bottom lip as he tried to avoid stepping on the flowers. Finally, the trail of candles led to a room. Lance poked his head in. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. It was empty of anyone else.

He carefully walked towards the chair and table that was set up. His hands grasped an envelope with his name on it. Lance sighed in relief, realizing he was supposed to be there. His fingers just managed to open the envelope as he took out a note.

Take a seat.

Lance recognized the handwriting as Barbatos’s, but still stared at it in confusion. He peered over the frames of his glasses towards the chair. It was the one he always preferred to sit in the study. He chuckled, realizing that Barbatos must have moved it here for whatever he had planned.

“What do you have planned, Barbatos?” Lance asked the air, waiting for a response.

“If I told you, it’d ruin the surprise,” Barbatos whispered into Lance’s ear.

The human jumped and turned to face the demon. Barbatos smirked down at him. He bit the tips of his gloves and pulled them off before placing them on the table. The purple of his nails lightly brushed up against Lance’s burning cheeks as he stared up at the demon in shock.

“Oya?” Barbatos spoke in fake concern. “You’re burning up, Lance.”

Lance darted his eyes away from the butler. He swallowed, trying to slow just how fast his heart of beating. The human’s ears twitched as Barbatos started humming. Music started playing from a nearby speaker. Barbatos trailed around the chair to face Lance. He placed both of his hands on the backrest of the chair, caging Lance in.

“Are you alright? Is there anything bothering you?” Barbatos asked just above a whisper. Lance tensed up. His lips pressed together in a thin line as he weakly whispered. He tried to look away from the butler, but the butler had other plans. He hooked a finger under Lance’s chin. “Your poor manners won’t be tolerated, Lance,” he playfully chided. “When someone asks you a question, it’s polite to respond.”

“I’m fine,” Lance managed to choke out.

“So there’s nothing bothering you?” Barbatos leaned closer, their noses brushing up against one another. Barbatos lifted his legs. His knees were placed on either side of Lance’s legs.

“No!” Lance squeaked and craned his neck up to look at the demon.

Barbatos chuckled. “Good,” he breathed out. Lance could feel his breath against his skin. He shrank back against the chair, quickly becoming overwhelmed. Barbatos simply smirked at his shyness. The scheming demon used a hand to slowly loosen his tie. Once the knot was undone, Barbatos quickly snapped it from his neck. With the silken material, he slid it behind Lance’s neck and used that to bring the human closer to him.

“Barbatos, you’re going to kill me,” Lance muttered quietly, he almost couldn’t hear his own voice over the pounding of his heart.

Barbatos’s chest rumbled as he laughed. He let the human fall back against the chair and dropped the tie onto the table. Still, he wasn’t done having his fun. He moved his lips over Lance’s neck, feeling the human’s racing pulse under his kisses. “I, too, cannot stop this billowing feeling."

“I’m dizzy,” Lance breathed out, he could swear he felt steam rising from his face.

Barbatos’s emerald eyes widened as he pulled away. Lance fell forward and rested his forehead against the demon’s chest. With a sigh, Barbatos ran his fingers through Lance’s hair. “I took it too far, my apologies.”

"It’s okay,” Lance murmured, his eyes closed as he tried to get his vision to stop spinning. “I’m sorry I get overwhelmed so easily.”

Barbatos chuckled and pressed his lips to the top of Lance’s head. “Nonsense. It’s enduring.” He slowly moved off of Lance’s lap. “I’ll prepare you some tea, Little Lamb.”

Lance grabbed his hand quickly, stopping him from leaving. “Thank you, Little Bat.”

Barbatos turned back around and softly caressed his cheek. “For you, I would do anything. I hope you do realize I’m so crazy about you.” He pressed his lips to his forehead, chuckling as he felt Lance’s face heat up again. “Now, stay here. I’ll be back with some green tea to help you relax.” He pulled away, just barely succeeding in fighting the temptation to hold him tightly.
