Work Text:

Yoongi had always enjoyed going to the park and just relaxing. He liked being able to shift to a cat in general because he was able to go to places like the park and not have people, humans, bother him.

He was a black cat so not many people were too keen on coming up to him to begin with. So Yoongi would often find himself at the park, and bask in the sun all day. The sun would beat down on his sleek black fur as he dozed off to sleep.

It was a Wednesday in April, warm spring weather finally settling in after a long winter. The grass was cool beneath his small feline body, a stark contrast to the sun. He would hear the sounds of people walking all around him, occasionally a child pointing over and asking their parents if they could pet him. The answer was always no, thankfully. No parent trusted that a stray cat wouldn’t have any diseases and never wanted their child near.

Yoongi, of course, was neither a stray nor did he have diseases.

He was a familiar for his witch, an herbalist named Hoseok. Hoseok would often practice dancing on his rest periods from working in their magic shop, a time perfect for Yoongi to have some solitary time in the park.

So Yoongi lay, on the edge of deep sleep, finally letting himself relax after a gruesome day spent trying to keep Hoseok from blowing up their shop. The herbalist was sometimes overzealous in his attempts to create new amazing potions.

He was finally drifting off, that was, until he heard the barking.

Yoongi’s ears perked up at the annoyance, and he blinked his eyes awake slowly. He stretched out and rolled onto his other side to see a ginormous doberman running at him. The dog's owner chased as close behind as he could, a young man, probably in his early 20s who was covered in tattoos. Perhaps under any other circumstances Yoongi would have paused to appreciate the attractive man, but he was quickly entering fight or flight.

Yoongi jumped up, his fur stood to attention and his tail a ball of puffed up fur.

He ran like his life depended on it.

Yoongi’s paws tore through the grass of the park, the grass that he had just a few moments ago been relaxing in.

He had no set location in mind, he just knew that he needed to escape.

Logically, if he ran far enough, he would be able to shift back into his human form, but his brain was only focused on getting away.

He barely registered that a tree had gotten right in front of him, but his brain just supplied him with the information that if he was able to run up the tree, the doberman would be unable to follow.

So Yoongi leapt up with all his might and flew onto the truck, digging his claws into the hardened bark as he scaled up the side of the tree as fast as he could.

The dog reached the bottom of the tree, jumping up on hind legs trying to reach Yoongi who had already gotten to the top.

Yoongi hissed down at the dog who whimpered at his bad luck.

Yoongi outsmarted him, of course.

His tail swished back and forth as if to tease the dog and Yoongi looked down tauntingly.

The owner finally caught up, out of breath from running for so long and trying to catch up with them.

“Ah, Bam. What have you done?” The man muttered, running his tattooed hand through his dark brown hair.

The man looked up towards Yoongi. “Here kitty, why don’t you come down now… I’m holding onto Bam.”

Yoongi narrowed his eyes. How could he trust this guy when he had caused this beast of a dog to escape already before?

But Yoongi looked down anyway and realized begrudgingly how high up he had gotten.

Fuck.

Yoongi pawed at the bark, testing it out. How was he supposed to climb down?

Yoongi kept reaching down slightly, trying to get a grip, but it didn’t work.

He meowed at the tattooed man as if to say it was his fault.

The dog, Bam, just panted at his side, tongue out and drool rolling off.

Yoongi meowed again, maybe this man could climb up and save him.

He seemed to understand and attempted to look at the top of the tree. “Kitty, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to get you down.”

Yoongi hisses, angry at this man and his annoying dog. Hoseok would be wondering where Yoongi was in maybe about three hours if he were lucky.

Hoseok knew where Yoongi would go on his breaks and he would come to the park to find him. Then he would be able to get Yoongi down for sure. In the meantime, he had to deal with the fact that he was stuck in a tree.

The man at the bottom seemed conflicted about leaving Yoongi up there. “You must have an owner who will be missing you… I need to find a way to get you home.”

Yoongi glared. Hoseok was definitely not his owner.

Well okay, maybe. But that was more in a spiritual sense.

“I have a friend I might be able to call…” The man took out his phone and Yoongi could have smashed his head into the tree with irritation.

At this point he just wanted to be left alone, he didn’t want this random man who he did not know to worry about him. Yoongi would be perfectly fine unmoving from this tree until Hoseok came looking.

But alas, the man seemed to dial a number and held the phone to his ear.

This was beginning to be way more trouble than Yoongi would have ever asked for.

“Namjoon? Hey, It’s Jungkook. Do you still have that ladder? Yeah, I have a situation.” The man, Jungkook, paused to listen to what the person on the other line was saying.

Yoongi’s tail swished in annoyance.

“No, no. I’m not in trouble, I promise. Wait, tell Jin to calm down. I’m okay. Bam and I are at the park. Just bring your ladder.” Jungkook’s eyebrows scrunched, obviously not enjoying the fact that he needed to tell his friends that he got a cat stuck in a tree. That was very unfortunate for him.

“Just get here soon, bye. Bye!” Jungkook hung up quickly, sighing as he looked back up at Yoongi.

“I’m sorry, kitty. My friend Namjoon will be stopping by soon. He has a ladder and will be able to get up the tree. I’ll need you to stay calm when he gets you, though. He’s going to pick you up and take you down. Please don’t bite or scratch him.” Jungkook pleaded, but Yoongi just continued to stare at him.

Within the thirty minutes that it took for Namjoon to arrive, Jungkook continued making small talk with Yoongi.

Of course, he was still in his cat form so he had nothing to reply with, but the human just continued speaking, unrelenting, for the entire time.

Yoongi thought that he must feel quite bad for what happened, perhaps imagining a stressed out owner who was fretting over their missing pet cat.

Hoseok probably hadn’t even noticed his disappearance. Yoongi would have scoffed had he not been in his cat form.

Hoseok’s boyfriend Jimin had come over to join Hoseok for the break right as Yoongi had gone to leave for the park.

Sometimes Yoongi would stay as Hoseok and Jimin danced together, but most of the time Yoongi knew Hoseok just needed a bit of alone time with his boyfriend.

Yoongi was plenty okay with that, but it also meant that Hoseok would not be looking for Yoongi for a bit. Which meant that he needed to rely on this Namjoon person to get him down from the tree.

Namjoon finally arrived with two other men, lugging a ladder from the roof of one of their cars into the park.

Yoongi watched the entire debacle from his perch, high up on the tree.

He was not sure which of the men was the Namjoon that would be rescuing him, but he looked carefully at each of the three nonetheless.

“Over here!” Jungkook called out to the group as they came further into sight.

And Yoongi could have curled up and died with embarrassment when he saw that none other than Kim Taehyung was with them. Kim Taehyung who was Jimin’s best friend. Kim Taehyung who knew who Yoongi was.

This also meant that Taehyung would know what happened to Yoongi and now he would have to deal with everyone else knowing too. That Yoongi had been chased up a tree by a dog, just like some regular house cat would.

Yoongi’s hackles raised in irritation again. Hopefully Taehyung would just think he was some random black cat that happened to be at Yoongi’s favorite location.

Yoongi knew deep down that he would never be that lucky.

“What’s going on?” Namjoon asked as he approached the tree with the two others he had come with.. “Did Bam lose something?”

Jungkook sighed, looking down at the dog who was frothing at the mouth with excitement at seeing the other humans. “Bam chased a cat up into the tree and the poor thing can’t seem to get down.”

Poor thing. Yoongi wanted to die. He supposed that dying may be less painful than whatever was happening to him at that moment.

Yes. Death would be quite nice.

Namjoon looked worriedly up into the tree and spotted Yoongi. “Oh, look at him. Okay, help me set up the ladder so I can get up there. I need everyone to hold tight to it as I go up.

Yoongi had never been so ashamed in his entire life. Four very attractive men were setting up a ladder on a tree to try and get Yoongi down.

It was terrible.

Yoongi would never live this down ever.

The three boys held the ladder steady as Namjoon took his first step, gripping the edges of the ladder tight.

He continued to climb the ladder up towards Yoongi, the cat familiar getting more nervous with each step. He wished he could just back up into the shadows and disappear, but unfortunately he was doomed up on that tree with nowhere to hide.

For him to use his magic he needed Hoseok at his side, otherwise he was practically useless.

He let out a low guttural growl as Namjoon reached the top, a warning not to drop Yoongi.

The two stared at each other for a moment, Yoongi’s fur raised in fear.

Yoongi could not help but notice how extremely attractive Namjoon was.

“Hey.” Namjoon whispered, his voice low and calm. “You’re alright. Come into my arms and I will get you down and you’ll be back to your family soon.”

Yoongi took a tentative step towards Namjoon, unsure about the stability of the ladder.

Namjoon held out a finger like you would to a normal cat, so that they could assess a person’s scent. Yoongi appreciated that Namjoon was doing his best to get on Yoongi’s good side.

He finally got close enough for Namjoon to scoop him up properly. Yoongi felt big, muscled arms holding him tight.

“I need to let go with one hand so I can hold on the ladder, just stay still.” Namjoon spoke to Yoongi.

He did as he was told, not wanting to fall as much as Namjoon.

The human slowly started descending down the tree, shaking slightly as he continued to hold Yoongi close. Finally he reached the ground again, but did not let go of Yoongi.

Yoongi was not particularly ready to let go of Namjoon either.

Those arms of his could have been considered therapeutic.

“Are your owners close by?” Namjoon asked Yoongi, but he just meowed, content.

“Thank you so much for helping.” Jungkook said, releasing a sigh of relief. “I was so worried about this little guy…”

Yoongi was once again starting to get embarrassed as the group of men surrounded Namjoon to get a closer look at the cat they had all just rescued.

“Oh wait a second.” Taehyung seemed shocked for a moment.

Yoongi went still and looked everywhere except for Taehyung.

“Oh my God, you’re Yoongi. I know that cute little nose anywhere.” Taehyung’s voice was gleeful, much to Yoongi’s disdain.

Taehyung reached to grab Yoongi, but he hissed in retaliation, only causing the other to laugh.

“You know this cat?” Namjoon asked, slightly bewildered. “Are you sure?”

“I’d recognize this precious kitty cat anywhere.” Taehyung began to coo at Yoongi, teasing him. “Awww, little Yoongi got lost away from home. Hoseokkie must be so worried about you.”

Yoongi could have killed him.

No, Yoongi was about to kill him.

“Oh, you know his owner?” Namjoon seemed relieved, ready to let Yoongi down.

Yoongi was still not ready to go.

When would be the next time an extremely attractive man would hold him this close in buff arms? Yoongi could not even remember the last time he had been in that situation, so he would like to savor it.

“He doesn’t seem to want to let Namjoon go.” One of the other men spoke up.

Yoongi did not know this person yet.

“Yeah he’s holding me super tight, Seokjin.” Namjoon replied, Yoongi’s claws gripping onto his shirt for dear life.

Taehyung made eye contact with Yoongi, a smirk glimmering off his eyes. “Oh, I bet he doesn’t want to leave you yet. Why don’t you drop him off at Hoseok's with me?”

“Ah, but shouldn’t I go?” Jungkook spoke up, looking nervous. “I got his cat stuck in a tree…”

Taehyung shook his head. “Trust me when I say that Hoseok will find this situation hilarious. On we go, Namjoon. It’s a short walk from here.”

“But the ladder…” Namjoon started to speak but Jungkook stopped him.

“You came all the way here with it for me, I’ll get it back to your apartment, don’t worry. It’s the least I could do.”

Namjoon shrugged, but decided to bring Yoongi to his owner with Taehyung. Seokjin and Jungkook got the ladder packed up to go.

“Hoseok has a shop nearby.” Taehyung mentioned. “Yoongi usually comes to the park when they aren’t working. That’s another reason I was able to tell it was him.”

Namjoon nodded along. “Bam must be so scary for such a small cat…”

Next time, Yoongi would like it if Namjoon would be there to protect him and save him from huge scary dogs that chase him up trees.

Yoongi purred as Namjoon held him against his chest as they walked to Hoseok’s shop. He wanted to stay like this forever.

But alas, they eventually arrived.

Taehyung walked right in and called out for Hoseok.

The shop was closed on Wednesdays, so it was currently empty aside from the pair of boyfriends who had been doing god knows what while Yoongi had been at that park.

Hoseok and Jimin came in from the back door and just stared at the scene in front of them.

“Um, is that Yoongi?” Hoseok asked, a bit bewildered at the sight. “Who are you?”

Namjoon seemed a bit nervous, unsure of why he was there. “I rescued your cat from a tree, Taehyung said he knew you were the owner, so…”

Yoongi looked over to Taehyung who was making eye contact with Jimin, the two of them giggling.

Hoseok himself looked like he was holding back laughter.

Yoongi grimaced.

“H-he got stuck in a tree.” Hoseok finally managed to say, his mouth twitching. “You had to save him from a tree?”

Namjoon nodded, not particularly understanding the energy in the room. “My friend’s dog chased him up… The poor thing was too scared to come down.”

Hoseok finally could not take it anymore and wheezed out a huge laugh as Jimin and Taehyung started cackling as well.

It seemed to Namjoon that they might be laughing at him. “Well, I just came to bring him back home…”

Namjoon’s grip loosened around Yoongi who just sunk his nails further into the shirt, still not ready to let go.

“He doesn’t even want to let go of his savior.” Hoseok laughed, walking up to Namjoon to take Yoongi from his arms.

Yoongi hissed at Hoseok, irritated that the witch had laughed at him.

“Give it up, Yoongi.” Hoseok rolled his eyes and pried Yoongi off of Namjoon.

Namjoon seemed unsure of the situation even more than he had been prior, as to him it looked as though Yoongi wanted nothing to do with being reunited with his owner.

“Hey, why don’t you stop by the shop tomorrow?” Hoseok suddenly asked, a smirk growing on his lips. “We can properly thank you for saving Yoongi.”

“Oh.” Namjoon paused to think. “I mean sure? It was nothing, really… I couldn’t possibly leave the cat up there.”

“Now, now, now.” Hoseok patted Namjoon’s shoulder, holding Yoongi tight with his other arm. “You did us a good deed, let us thank you properly. I’ll give you something nice from the shop as a gift.”

Namjoon looked warily around the room he was in, noticing the vials full of mysterious liquids cluttering the shelves. Plants and vines covering every inch. “Oh. What exactly, I don’t mean to offend, but what exactly do you sell here?”

Hoseok gave him a huge smile. “Come back tomorrow and I’ll tell you.”

Namjoon finally nodded in agreement, a bit begrudgingly. “Alright. I’ll leave you for today. I’ll stop in at around noon tomorrow?”

“That’s perfect.” Hoseok held out a hand for Namjoon to shake. “I’m Hoseok, by the way, to answer your question from earlier.”

“I’m Namjoon.” Namjoon took the hand before bidding farewell and leaving the shop.

The moment the door closed, the three boys burst out laughing again as Yoongi turned back into his human form, crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance.

“You got chased up a t-tree.” Hoseok could barely breathe since he was laughing so hard, ignoring the glare Yoongi was sending him.

“You should have seen the beast that chased me! It was blood thirsty and prepared to kill.” Yoongi argued back which caused Taehyung to double over in laughter.

“Bam?” He said between wheezes. “Bam was blood thirsty?”

Yoongi scoffed, kicking his feet against the floor. “I forgot you are friends with that monster’s owner.”

Jimin raised an eyebrow. “It was Bam that chased you? Oh, that’s even better.”

Yoongi huffed, refusing to make eye contact with any of the other men in the room. “'How come everyone knows that evil creature?”

“Who is Bam?” Hoseok asked, teary eyed from laughing so hard.

“He’s a dog that belongs to Taehyung’s boyfriend Seokjin’s little brother. I’ve met Jungkook and Bam on a few occasions.” Jimin supplied to Hoseok who nodded along.

“I see. Chased up a tree by a dog.” The witch feigned momentary seriousness before snorting. “Really, Yoongi? Aren’t you supposed to be some powerful demon that was sent to me from the spirits to aid with my magic?”

“He was huge! I wouldn’t expect you to understand…” Yoongi muttered out before cursing under his breath causing Hoseok to giggle.

“We’ll see your new crush tomorrow anyway, let’s finish up work for the rest of the day so that we are prepared for tomorrow.”

Yoongi refused to make eye contact, but Hoseok did not miss the faint red that tinted his cheeks. '“Okay, whatever. Let’s work now.”

Taehyung and Jimin headed out, saying farewell to the witch and his familiar that soon went back to work, ready to prepare a new batch of potions.

Hoseok noticed how nervous Yoongi was the following morning as the two of them started to reorganize their shelves before they opened the doors to the shop.

He watched as Yoongi kept accidentally half shifting cat ears on his head while working, unable to control his emotions that were all over the place.

“Yoongi!” Hoseok laughed after the tenth time that the ears appeared and disappeared. “What is going on with you? Are you that nervous about Namjoon stopping by later?”

Yoongi sighed as he shelved that last potion in the set of the healing batch he was currently holding. “Well, he thinks I’m a cat, Hoseok. What is he going to do when I meet him later and he sees that the cat he saved from a tree is actually not a cat at all? What happens then?”

Hoseok straightened out a few of the vials in front of him as he thought about what Yoongi was saying. “I think his first thought will be how attractive and irresistible you are in your human form. He will be head over heels for you in no time, I’m sure of it.”

Yoongi started walking to the back to put away a few boxes that were still out from when they started unpacking the new batches that morning. “Humans are not used to cat shifters, Hoseok.”

Hoseok hummed under his breath as he walked over to the cash register to start it up, but looked over at Yoongi to assess his emotions. “Jimin and Taehyung both dealt just fine and neither of them had any experience with magic beforehand.”

“Jimin was so in love with you that it didn’t even matter. Taehyung automatically believes anything that comes out of Jimin’s mouth and was absolutely fine with accepting it if he did. I don’t think those two are a prime example.” Yoongi finished what he was doing and raised an eyebrow at Hoseok, putting both hands on his hips.

“Namjoon is friends with both of them so it will probably help him digest this information. Plus, Namjoon will think you are super hot and fall in love immediately. You do not have a single thing to worry about.”

“Whatever, Hoseok. We need to open the store now anyway. I can already feel the grandmothers lining up outside the door right now waiting to come in and get those elixirs they are obsessed with. They’ll start pounding on the door at any moment.”

Before Hoseok could reply, Yoongi was shifting into his cat form and running to sit on the check out desk.

The witch clicked his tongue but went to unlock the door anyway. Sure enough, a group of older women had lined up outside ready to come in first thing.

They always did that.

The morning rush went by quickly for the pair, their stock for the day dwindling down as the afternoon settled in.

Hoseok was always amazing with his customers, a people person at heart. He was enthusiastic to talk about his recipes to those who asked, and he answered any questions people had about his products with a huge smile on his face. He loved his job, genuinely, and Yoongi had always been thankful that he was bonded to someone like him.

Yoongi never had to do much during the work days, always leaving it to Hoseok to work with the people that came in and take their orders and help them navigate their products. Yoongi’s job mainly dealt with helping Hoseok prepare his recipes, gather ingredients, set up for the day, and protect the door from evil spirits.

Overall, he had a super easy life in the human realm.

Before bonding with Hoseok, he had heard horror stories from his colleagues about some of the witches they had worked with and began to fear what it would be like to be a familiar.

Yoongi considered himself very lucky to have Hoseok.

When the clock struck 12 in the afternoon, Hoseok met eyes with Yoongi from across the store and gave him a knowing smirk.

Namjoon would be arriving any second.

Yoongi’s heart rate picked up, and he hated the way that some man he had only met once was affecting him so much.

Though, if you met Namjoon, you would understand his predicament.

Yoongi’s tail fidgeted with nerves as he continued to watch the clock knowing that at any second, Namjoon would walk through the door.

Hoseok naturally found the situation humorous, chuckling as he watched Yoongi sit super tensely on the desk, and nearly burst out laughing when Yoongi jumped up comically when Namjoon walked through the door. It looked straight out of a cartoon.

“Namjoon, you’re here!” Hoseok spoke, straightening himself up so as to not scare off Namjoon this early on. “Come in, come in.”

Namjoon let Hoseok lead him inside the store, the human looking around at all the intricacies that lined the shelves and the different types of people that were viewing the products.

The vibe of the store was completely different than it had been the day before when it was closed.

He walked up to Yoongi, patting the top of his head and saying a soft hello.

Yoongi meowed in reply, but it sounded strained.

“Let me show you to the back room and we’ll be with you momentarily.” Hoseok said as he opened a door at the back of the shop that led into a small break room.

It was furnished with a worn out brown leather couch, a wooden coffee table, a mini fridge, and a medium sized television mounted on the wall. Several books and magazines were littered around as well.

Hoseok gestured for Namjoon to sit on the couch and then left the room, closing the door behind him.

“Yoongi!” Hoseok walked over to the cat that was still sitting on the desk, disheveled looking. “Turn into your human form for our guest, would you? How else are you going to ask him on a date?”

Yoongi failed to find the humor in Hoseok’s words, the witch clearly having a great time with this.

Yoongi shifted into his human form, the other people in the store unaffected since they were all magic folk as well. “I’m just going to give him your little gift and then let him go.”

Hoseok tsked. “Just talk to him and see what happens. When was the last time you even dated someone? A millennia ago? Do people date in the underworld?”

Yoongi scowled at the witch, but gathered together the gift he had prepared for Namjoon. It was a potion to help with stress, something to help ease the mind of worries.

Yoongi gripped the vial tight, holding it close to his chest as he became more nervous at the prospect of properly meeting Namjoon and thanking him for helping him get out of the tree.

Yoongi took a deep breath as he opened the door to the break room, letting himself in quietly.

Namjoon was sitting on the couch looking through one of the plant books that Hoseok had on a side table.

“Hi.” Yoongi spoke, voice quiet.

Namjoon looked up, slightly startled, having been immersed in reading about greenery. “Oh, are you a different worker here? I’m Namjoon.”

Yoongi continued to stand at the room entrance, still clutching the vial in his hands. “My name is Yoongi. I wanted to give you this as a thanks for helping me yesterday.”

His words were a bit rushed, and his tone was still soft. He was worried about scaring Namjoon away far too soon.

The human stared at him, face unreadable. Yoongi’s poor heart pounded.

Namjoon looked even more attractive close up like this.

“You share a name with the cat?” Namjoon finally asked, probably having thought over what Yoongi said multiple times before coming to that conclusion.

“No, its…” Yoongi started, shifting his weight between his feet nervously. “This is a magic shop. Hoseok is a witch and I’m his familiar… I’m the cat…”

Namjoon continued to stare at Yoongi’s wide eyes. If Hoseok had been there, Yoongi would imagine him joking about how small and scared Yoongi looked for a demon.

Namjoon still hadn’t said anything so Yoongi held out the potion he was carrying. “This is our gift of thanks to you. It’s a peace and tranquility potion for if your thoughts become too much and you need to relax.”

The room was still quiet except for the words Yoongi spoke.

Namjoon reached out and took the potion, fingers brushing Yoongi’s. “Thank you for the gift.”

Yoongi noticed that Namjoon did not speak about the magic shop information. “I hope you don’t think I am lying. I know it’s a bit to take in, but I wanted to thank you a lot for yesterday. I often go to the park when I have time off.”

Namjoon looked down at the potion in his hands and then back at Yoongi. “You’re a cat?”

Yoongi fidgeted with his fingers. “I’m technically a demon that bonded to Hoseok and became his familiar. I take on a cat form and a human form when I am in the human realm and can shift between the two.”

Namjoon stared again. “You’re a demon???”

Yoongi scratched behind his ear nervously. “Yes? It’s not as terrifying as it sounds. I just help out Hoseok around here as his familiar.”

Namjoon nodded slowly, trying to take this all in. “Taehyung knew, didn’t he…?”

“Yes.”

Namjoon hummed. “I see. I believe you.”

“You what?” Yoongi was taken aback.

“It would explain what you were selling in the shop and the way you were acting around Taehyung and Hoseok yesterday. Plus you don’t have a reason to lie to me so I just decided to believe you for now.”

“Oh.” Yoongi let out a sigh of relief, tension leaving his body and a weight lifting off his shoulders.

“Though I have a question.” Namjoon continued. “I can understand getting scared of Bam and running up a tree, kind of, but why did you refuse to let go of me after? You would have been fine getting back home but Taehyung insisted I bring you. That doesn’t really make sense if he knows about you, I guess…”

Ah. Yoongi should have known this was coming.

“I really liked it when you were holding me.” Was the genius response he came up with.

Yoongi mentally slapped himself.

“You liked it when I held you?” Namjoon asked, slightly in disbelief. “What do you mean by that?”

“You’re really attractive.”

Yoongi was not sure if it was possible to embarrass himself even more than he already had.

“Oh…” Namjoon spoke, most likely not quite sure what to say.

Yoongi supposed he should just get it all out since he had already gone this far. “I was actually wondering if you would go on a date with me… So I could properly thank you for saving me yesterday.”

His cheeks were burning, he was so nervous.

Namjoon had a soft smile growing on his face, dimples showing and making Yoongi’s stomach do somersaults.

“You’re cute.” Namjoon grinned. “You’re really cute.”

Yoongi attempted to reply, but no words came. He cleared his throat, pausing before he was ready to respond. “Is that a yes?”

“I would love to go on a date with you, Yoongi.”

The two were silent for a moment, smiling at each other. Namjoon was still holding onto the potion that Yoongi gave him.

Before Namjoon left, he and Yoongi exchanged phone numbers with the promise of messaging later and working out the logistics of their date, both bubbling with excitement.

They eventually said goodbye and Yoongi walked Namjoon out, watching as he walked down the street back to his apartment.

Yoongi turned back to Hoseok who had a mischievous grin.

“So was getting chased up a tree worth it?”

Yoongi sighed, knowing that he was right about never living it down. But on the other hand… “I suppose it was.”
