Lukas limped his way into the rebuilt temple. His injuries from the battle with the beast on Onderon. Bao-Dur had done his best to treat the injuries. There were still lingering ones that caused his limp. If the Council decided to attack him they would likely defeat him with ease. His lungs burned with the effort to keep moving.
Kreia had waited outside in the courtyard to see what they would do. Lukas wanted nothing more than to return to his ship and sleep. He was so tired and he didn't think there was enough to sleep that he could have would change it.
When he arrived at the meeting spot the three Jedi Masters looked up. They all looked just as exhausted as he did. Tiredly he bowed in greeting nearly stumbling over his own feet. A fierce blush ran up his face in embarrassment.
To his surprise, Kavar chuckled. It was a soft sound that forced him to relax. Kavar had always been someone he felt he could trust. Even if he didn't know why he trust the man.
Vrook coldly said, "So you have returned to us."
Lukas coughed painfully, "I said I would. Are you all well?"
Zez-Kai Ell replied easily, "We are. Though you look a little worse for wear. What happened to you, Lambert?"
"Dark side monster," laughed Lukas painfully, "It nearly got the best of me but my allies were able to stop it. Bao-Dur one of my allies healed what he could."
Kavar asked his voice laced with concern, "I thought you said you were fine. Why didn't you tell me about your injuries?"
Lukas simply smiled. Of course, he said he was fine. That was the most common lie he told. He didn't want anyone to worry about him so he said he was fine. More often than not he treated his own injuries in his quarters away from the others.
Kavar left the safety of the Council to stand in front of him. Lukas flinched not having noticed the man moving. Vrook snarled soundlessly. He obviously still did not like Lukas.
Kavar's hand found itself on his chest and Lukas could feel the Force swirl around him. It soothed his injuries and even healed the serious one. The younger man felt his waning strength completely leave him. His body collapsed forward into the Jedi Master.
Instead of letting him fall onto the ground, Kavar caught him. The man's earthly scent kept him from fighting his way out of the grip. Zez-Kai Ell watched with a knowing look and he could feel the acceptance within the Force. An acceptance that Vrook lacked.
Vrook ordered, "Kavar you know what we must do. The wound to the Force must be closed."
Kavar turned his blazing blue eyes upon the older master, "You can't be serious, Vrook. He can barely keep conscious it's obvious that he is not the threat you so fear."
Zez-Kai Ell agreed, "Vrook he is not the threat. I only agreed with you because Lambert was growing in strength. There was a possibility of him becoming the threat you feared. Seeing him like this I can see how you were wrong."
Lukas had put two and two together in what they were talking about. Vrook still saw him as the threat against the Order. That meant he wanted to end the threat by any means necessary. Either kill him or cut him off from the Force something he doubted he would survive a second time.
Breathing hard he gripped the Kavar's arm for support as he tried to regain his feet. Blue eyes turned back to him worry was clear in them.
"Stay down," ordered Kavar, "I won't let anything happen to you."
"You choose an exile over the good of the galaxy?" Questioned Vrook disbelieving, "I always knew you were weak Kavar. But this borders on treason."
Zez-Kai Ell said coldly now standing beside Kavar, "Enough Vrook. Alone you do not have the strength to cut him off the Force. If you try you will have to face both Kavar and me."
The old Jedi Master glanced between them in disbelief.
Then he declared, "The Dark will win because of you. Just watch he will betray you."
Then Vrook fled leaving the two masters to support him. Kavar slung Lukas's arm over his shoulders and helped him out of the meeting area. Silence reigned in between them.
Weakly he said, "Hold on you have to know something. There is an old Master waiting for us in the courtyard. She was a master during the Mandalorian Wars."
Kavar blinked down at him in surprise before saying, "That makes sense. I had thought you had an ally to help you. Someone to reteach you how to use the Force."
"Do... don't hurt her. Force... bond." With that, he fell into unconsciousness the injuries taking their toll.
...
When Lukas fell limp Kavar awkwardly picked up the younger. He practically weighed nothing despite all the armor he had. This man needed to take better care of himself. He would ensure that Lukas did just that. Even if he had to force-feed him.
To Zez-Kai Ell he asked, "Do you sense anyone?"
The older man raised his head and sent out his presence searching. After a moment he shook his head. No, he didn't sense anything. Kavar didn't sense anything unexpected either. There were several Force-sensitives on Lukas's ship but he knew about them beforehand. There wasn't anyone he would have considered a Jedi Master.
Questions would have to come later though. First, they needed to heal Lukas's injuries and get some food into him.
