Chapter Text
Youngjae had just finished up with a patient and was heading back in the direction of his office but decided to take a smoke break outside.
Leaving out an employee only door, he walked a few feet away from it before lighting a cigarette.
"You still have that habit after all this time?"
Rolling his eyes, Youngjae blatantly ignored the person.
"You can't still be mad at me. It's been 8 years after all" he heard as footsteps walked up.
"That doesn't mean I forgave you Seungcheol," Youngjae replied.
"Let it be Jae. It’s the past now"
He continued to smoke for a while longer, before dropping his cigarette on the ground, crushing it under his shoe.
"Don't call me that. What the hell do you want?"
Seungcheol shrugged.
"Maybe I want you to come back to the family. Maybe I want you to come back to me."
As the man spoke, he walked closer, the gap between them lessening.
"It can be just like old times"
Every step he took forward, Youngjae took one back. He felt as his back touched the brick of the building and he just wanted him to stop.
“Don’t you miss us Jae? We had such good times. When you behaved of course. Me, you and Han”
“Shut up! Don’t even talk about him!”
Seungcheol stopped in front of Youngjae as he laughed.
"Why not? You still blaming me for that too?”
The man leaned close to Youngjae’s ear.
“We all know that it was your fault he died,” Seungcheol whispered.
Youngjae’s eyes filled with tears and he turned his head as they began to fall.
“Aw little Jae feels guilty. Don’t you think it’s time come back to where you belong?” Seungcheol asked, reaching out to Youngjae’s cheek.
Then a fist was flying and Seungcheol was holding his cheek as he glared to the spot next to Youngjae.
He looked and it was Jinyoung whose eyes met his.
‘You okay?’ was the question his gaze asked and Youngjae broke eye contact as he wiped away the leftover tears.
"I thought I told you to leave him alone" Jinyoung stated.
Seungcheol huffed as he wiped away the blood from his lip.
Youngjae noticed that his right cheek was already bruising.
‘Not bad Jinyoung’
"It's none of your business Park. This is between me and him" he replied, pointing at Youngjae.
"It’s my business now. This is my last time telling you to leave him alone. Get fucking lost"
Seungcheol looked back over at Youngjae briefly as he walked away.
The look clearly stated “this isn’t over and I’m coming back”
Youngjae’s knees wavered as his adrenaline wore off and he slid down against the wall to calm himself.
"Are you alright Jae?" Jinyoung asked and Youngjae nodded after a few minutes.
“What made you come look for me?”
" Jenny told me that you went for a break and wasn't back yet. It didn’t sound like you" Jinyoung replied.
"It was just Seungcheol. Thank you for helping"
Jinyoung gave a smile as he helped Youngjae up from the ground.
"Anytime. Now let's get back to work" he said and they walked back inside.
