Work Text:
Raphael walked into the Pandemonium, doing his best to ignore the stench of alcohol.
Maia called him, asking him to pick up Simon. The fledgling had a habit of not knowing when to stop drinking plasma, not that Raphael could blame him, he had a similar problem when he was a fledgling. He scanned the crowd, he couldn’t smell Simon at all. Not abnormal, the place was full of people all wearing far too much perfume.
He made his way towards the bar area where he spotted Simon, but before he could get him, his jaw dropped at what he saw.
The Alexander Lightwood. Kneeling.
Raphael, having been practically raised by Magnus, knew all about warlock traditions, but where did Alec learn about it. Because he knows for a fact Magnus wouldn’t bring it up to him.
Alec looked relaxed; his thumb was running over Magnus’s knee while Magnus let his hand drift over Alec’s shoulders in a comforting gesture. Like he was letting the other person know they were there.
What was even more surprising was that the Shadowhunter had no weapons.
Anywhere.
There was no knife, bow or blade on his body. There was nothing next to him. He was completely defenseless, but he looked like he was at home right where he was.
Raphael knew the basics as to how Nephilim thought. And never would he had ever imagined that he would’ve seen any Shadowhunter not only unarmed but also kneeling for a Downworlder. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would’ve thought it was utter bullshit.
Watching Alec kneel... He was almost happy, Magnus finally had someone who treated him right and respected him and his position. The vampire had to admit it earned Alec more respect than he originally had for him.
Raphael shook himself out of his thoughts, and walked towards Simon, he helped him to his feet while ignoring the chuckles from Maia. He ran the fledgling home to make sure he wouldn’t throw up on either of them. He couldn't waste more money because Simon ruined another suit.
Raphael dropped Simon off at his room and walked towards his own. He sat at his desk, pulling out the last paperwork for the week.
Maybe he should visit Magnus soon.
