Work Text:

Little Apple is not a good donkey because no donkey is a good donkey. Maybe a small, placid pony could be a good donkey, but it would then not be a donkey, and no donkey is ever a good donkey.

Little Apple has been a normal, evil donkey for years before suddenly, the family's young master that is thrown into her barn and takes up her space wakes up different. He feels more powerful, and has a dangerous air about him.

Not that this keeps her from head-butting him. Donkeys are fearless creatures. Even if the King of the Underworld itself appeared before any member of this proud species, their only reaction would be braying really loud in his face – as they would do to anybody else.

Unless he had apples. Little Apple is partial to apples. Carrots are good as well, but juicy apples are tastier, and thus make the weird hairless bipeds worthier of her noble attention.

When the loony young master eventually takes her away, she is quite happy. It doesn't take long for her to train him and make him understand that she is the one calling the shots - unless he has enough apple to bribe her to act otherwise. Though he is a bit too snarky for her liking, he still gets her down from the net the little yellow, screaming biped traps her in, reluctantly gaining her friendship.

This means that, whenever she tries to nibble on his hair, she tugs a bit lighter than she would have had he not won her undying devotion. Ha! She is such a generous donkey. He doesn't even look that disgusted at her saliva dripping off his long, dark locks. On the other hand, the tall, white biped that eventually joins them does.

The white one leads both her and the loony one to a pretty place, full of dewy grass and rabbits to annoy. She loves chasing those furballs around, watching them jump away in fear: all creatures should fear the mighty donkey. She would even expect a tiger to bow down to her.

The white one and the loony one sometimes take her to travel the land. When they don't, smaller white bipeds come to feed her treats. They obviously understand that she is a queen, and start by petting her luscious mane and holding the delicious apples up to her magnanimous mouth.

But sometimes they don't. And when some of them start by feeding the small furballs hanging around everywhere rather than her, she charges into them and makes them eat dirt. This lets them remember who should get the best vegetables the next time they come over.

Doing that often makes them drop their basket. When they do, she gobbles up all of its contents and watches them walk back, defeated, towards their tall stacks of wood to get more food for the small furs.

She particularly enjoys headbutting the loud, mouthy one. His screams of rage afterward taste sweeter than even the best apples.

Then, the world goes to crap, and she dies.

She wakes up, unfazed. Of course the Universe brought her back. She is a donkey.

She had spent her time dead braying as loud as she could in the Universe's ears – and eventually annoyed it into bringing her back. As it well should have.

She spends a really long time grazing. It seems weird to her that she doesn't even meet any reapers come to take her life. Usually, they always show up when donkeys pass a certain age. Chasing them around while trying to eat their shadowy coverings is quite a good distraction from the mundanity of life.

Eventually, someone manages to catch her. She feels pretty bored, and so doesn't resist too much as the person drags her to a stall that looks very similar to the one she had once lived in. How had that place been named again? Ah yes, Mo village.

This place seems to be called Mo village as well. Hmm. Bipeds have a rather peculiar naming sense. She spends a good few years living near that shed, puzzling the bipeds with her continued vitality.

Then, she meets the loony man again. He doesn't look the same but she still recognizes him - and from the look he sends her, he does as well. She made an impression on the Universe, eh! It even brought her favorite biped back to her.

The loony biped talks with the person tasked with taking care of her and exchanges a few glittery stones with him. She hears the loony one telling him to bring her to Yiling Wei within the month, or face his wrath. The man who takes care of her trembles in his boots, quivering in fear as he nods as quickly as he can, giving assurances that the donkey will be delivered as quickly as possible.

Hmpf. How dare that servant fear the loony one rather than her, the world-travelling, donkey deity.

But oh well. That loony guy had been pretty fun to headbutt. She'll just go there, and see how long she wants to stick around. After all, she is a donkey. She does what she wants, and even tigers - or the Universe - have to bow down to her.

Notes:

I hope all of you enjoyed this bit of fun ;) Also, I think I'll post the next real one-shot on Wednesday.
