Work Text:
Hana was no genius. And she may be a little dense. Okay, that may not be very flattering, but on the other side, she's got two distinctive traits: she's observant, and unassuming. And this comes in very handy when things start to be about Miko, her long-time friend. Miko is the kind of girl that doesn't really talk about herself, and if it wasn't for their closeness, Hana would probably never get to know what she can be thinking of, or what she may be feeling at times. For example, last year, things weren't so good for Miko, since she lost her father in a car accident. He was leaving work, while her and her family were waiting for him to get home and have dinner together. He never arrived to his destination. It was a rainy day, and apparently, the other driver lost control of his vehicule, and you know the rest.
Even though Hana had realised Miko really was out of it at this moment, it still took her at least three weeks before she was told about the accident, and it was only because she kept asking Miko what was going on, and why she didn't look too well, so yes, it's a good thing that Hana is observant.
Otherwise, she would have never seen the slight changes in Miko that started happening about two months ago. And she's not talking about being more mature, adopting mimics and other things, but about the weird gestures Miko sometimes made, as if she was avoiding an object that wasn't there, or how Hana could find her, whenever and wherever during the day, for a few minutes, looking like she saw something others couldn't, or also that one morning where Miko literally just stared at Hana for a solid minute without saying anything, then turned around and asked about where to buy a rosary, like she totally didn't do something weird.
Really, it's bad enough for Hana that Miko doesn't talk to her about that, but the worst is that, when those moments happen, Miko looks scared shitless, and Hana doesn't even know why, and that makes her unable to comfort her. Even if Miko thought she was going crazy or something, Hana would still want to know, because after all this time they've known each other, Hana thinks that Miko has become the most important person to her outside of her parents, and she really hopes Miko feels the same. So, for now, until she decides to tell Hana what is wrong, she will just continue to try and distract her the most possible, by taking her out to the mrs donuts shop, going shopping, or even just spending time together.
She can always wait forever to learn the truth, nothing would be too much for Miko. She just hopes that someday, Miko will open up, just like she did with her father.
