"Wanna go for a swim?" Kotaro asked, his voice vibrating in your ear as you laid your head on his chest.
"No, it's too dark. Who knows what’s lurking in there at this time.”
"Don't worry, you’re with me!" he argued as he swiftly got to his feet, threw you over his shoulder, and went running towards the ocean. No amount of screaming deterred his actions. Cold splashes of water sent chills down your spine as he pulled you away from his shoulder and into the water to carry you in his arms.
"Don't glare at me like that. I'm not going to let anything happen to you," he promised, looking into your eyes.
Your expression softened as you gazed back at him. The moonlight illuminated the features of his face. The way his smile curled upward and his eyes crinkled never failed to catch your breath. He leaned forward and brought his lips against yours to gently kiss you. You closed your eyes and tightened your arms around his neck, leaning into him as you kissed him back.
