“Just before you go home sir, would you mind talking to the prisoners?”
Vimes frowned, “Why? Did something happen?”
Cheri looked a little worried, “Not quite, sir. It’s more about what didn’t happen. According to Reg, sir, one of the fighters managed to kill one of them. For about ten minutes, at least. Then they got right back up again.”
“How do we know they weren’t just stunned?”
“By a knife to the neck, sir?”]
Vimes was planning to head home, but the Narrative (and a group of roving pirate musicians) have other plans.
