“Tough match?” Hendery asks, a half-smile on his face as his free hand reaches for Ten’s bruised knuckles. Tension almost melts off of Ten at the words.
“You should see the other guy,” Ten jokes after a moment of stillness, nodding at the sandbag. Hendery huffs quietly, pushing at his chest.
“Bet you couldn’t even land a punch on him,” He teases. That tight, squeezing sensation in Ten’s chest loosens.
Carefully, Hendery moves his fingers from wrapping around Ten’s wrist to curling around his palm, with a gentleness to each movement that makes something tired in Ten weep.
ten's always struggled to reach out for help, and hendery wishes he'd take the hand he's been holding out for the past two years.
